WvW maps are empty
The borderlands could use another keep or a few more towers, maybe even ‘special’ towers, aka repaired ruins that are now defensible with walls and the like. I mean who actually camps and defends the ruins?

On rare occasions my roam group will build the cannons in the ruins and lead larger groups into cannon range for laughs. We went 5v20ish against pug zergs doing this lol.
This week is ending up as it is from lack of player participation. I’m actually really surprised how poorly a lot of WvW players responded to this week. Players already raged quit before reset even began. Other players rage quit after an hour or two after reset. The effects of having less and less players to fight just snow balled the rage quitting from there. The simply solution is to man up and get back on map! So what, we have a lot of Golems, that doesn’t prevent open field fighting. We have the Golem buff issue, which again, is a so what? Just everyone pop it and we’re all on an even playing field again.

Not everybody wants to exploit, sorry. I should not have to exploit a bug in order to be on even playing field. I’ll simply not play and wait until the developers fix this crap.
Also not everybody wants to ktrain, it’s boring as heck, if I wanted to ktrain I would’ve been playing in EOTM. The people you’ve seen out in WvW this week are for the most part people from EOTM. It’s kind of hard to get an open field combat when they avoid you like a plague, and map hop to empty maps just to ktrain (the same things they do in EOTM). You could chase them for an hour and maybe one push them once, then it’s back to cat & mouse. Sorry, that’s just not fun at all.
Lastly, I think it was Monday when we had 3 guilds out ready to fight in EBG (I’m from JQ also btw). Three guilds + pugs ready to fight and have some fun. There were good fights against BG that day, it was kind of fun until we ran into a specific guild blob from TC that had 90% of their guild players with supercharged golem buffs on them. I won’t mention who but I think you know. You can’t compete with a map blob full of people with supercharged golem buffs, not to mention they outnumbered us by at least 15-20 players. Since nobody wanted to exploit the golem buffs, people logged in disgust. What would’ve been a decent day in GW2 ended up crappy, Anet should be shamed for not fixing exploits and not even acknowledging the problem.
I myself have tried to play on multiple occasions, I thought maybe I’ll roam a bit more this week since it was either roam or golem ktrain. Well you guessed it, roaming is fun until you get jumped by a thief/mesmer with supercharged golem buffs and get hit for 23k+ in 1 shot. How do you “man up” from that kind of crap?

I’m one who spends most of his time in WvW, and most of that time for fights only. Here’s how this week went down for me:
Day 1) A few small fights here and there. A few zerg v zerg fights here and there. It’s fun the first few times. Starts getting boring when I realize how sluggish golems are (especially alphas) in any real fight not involving a door. K-Train is ramping up.
Day 2) K-Train is on it’s way. Begin seeing people with the overcharge buff that aren’t in golems. Getting annoyed.
Day 3) Number of people abusing the overcharge buff increases seemingly exponentially. Still pretty much 100% k-train. Super annoyed.
Day 4) Same crap. ArenaNet is remaining silent. I’ve given up this week and lost a lot of faith in ANet. Definitely not purchasing HoT until it’s on sale dirt cheap way in the future.
It’s not for lack of people.

Uh, no.
WvW is a sandbox environment. People play it for a lot of different reasons and do different things in it. The golem event forced WvW to stop being a sandbox, forced players into doing one thing and one thing only because of the way you were punished for NOT using a golem. That’s why players quit.

Yes, I know the bug is annoying. I spent most of the week whispering those using it to stop, no matter what side they were on. Though organizing a map wide “gentlemen’s agreement” has been my own fool’s errand. They’ll always be a few using it so it’s just easier to get everyone using it. Until reset, I’m simply choosing to look at it now as an extension of using food and oil. It’s a part of this weeks Meta and it would be much more fun if we all tried to adapt to it and move on.
btw, the only players whom lost there preferred play styles was a builder like myself. As there is no WP’ing a keep, no matter how hard I’ve tried. So I’m running around an open fielding instead. It’s one week, I can adapt and still have fun in ts with everyone.
hell i would trade any of you for your k train for what ET has right now. last tonight i have tried to play only to find a total of 4 people between all maps, even the red team in the eotm maps i get, only have 5 people. When the bug started i knew what was going to happen.
Who ever had the most player would just face roll the others, till they just gave up by Sunday night. One can tell how bad it is when even red team in eotm has just quit with only like 5 people still trying.
There were four of us just on EB on ET server tonight! I’d say that’s pretty good for a week day…

Well boycotting the game in the state that Anet left it for this week is the best message to send to Anet, altho I’m quite sure they don’t really care.
They never really cared about WvW feedback before, they didn’t even bother to fix one simple exploit for the whole week. So why bother playing?

You cannot be serious with this sorta statement.
After 3 years of people saying less siege / less golem reliance you are shocked that people outright decided to walk-out on an “event” that promoted something they wanted no part in ?
Do you WvW like at all ?
On the flip side… some fight guilds went out to raid as usual and decided if the only enemy players on the map were in a karma train, at least it was something to fight. After two hours of easy wipes because everyone in the train was an uplevel, it got a little boring. When 25 people can hold off a map queue at spawn, it’s a little ridiculous.
The whispers of teary-eyed commanders wondering how we could be so mean to poor little uplevels just trying to gain karma was hilarious the first few times, but it just kept going and going until they all got tired of being farmed and left for the night.
After that night, both of my raid guilds called off raiding for the rest of the week. That was Saturday. I miss my WvW.
Our fight guild went to eotm, because it is the only place where you can get fights this week during our timezone. Even the T1 maps were empty or k-train with few people, it is really boring.
Frankly, I enjoyed smashing the uplevel k-trains in eotm and trolling them. I don’t have any sympathy for this kind of playstyle in wvw-maps, too many time I’ve got steamrolled by those players. Hearing their complains and seeing them ragequit makes me giggle. Best words until now was someone who has asked us, if we don’t know how to play eotm (it’s still a wvw map, isn’t it?) and that one k-train commander tried to claim that he’s doesn’t k-train but rather xp-train.

This week was total garbage. The golem event turned raiding guilds and roamers alike off of playing WvW, and the large shakeup in T1/T2 with many of us from JQ and BG moving to YB also contributed to empty maps. Hopefully they’ll read the feedback from the golem week and know not to try something like it again. It’s over now, so we can get on with our lives.

So if you want to come up to T1 and replace the dead wood, we have openings! Please have a sense of server pride and care about being a part of a larger community. TY
The golem event might have failed, but the upcoming Asurapult (catapulting Asura over walls) event is going to be great!

Is this sarcasm? Your telling me people to have server pride and leave their server to bandwagon on to yours?

Your posts are probably some if the best I’ve seen regarding the event, glad some positive people still come on forums. I’m glad to see there are other people who can stand to adapt for a week and enjoy GW2 for what it really is, a game meant for fun.

They don’t have to care because of servers like the one I’m playing on now. Almost perma queue on EB and several queues during prime time. We’ve had more players than normal – at least when I watched the queues because I refused to play regular WvW at all – and this is kinda sad.

I’m willing to bet within the next few days Anet tells us how much of a great success this event was, confirming that they truly are out of touch with us.

I love the people who think we’re dead to them because we leave a server. You’re welcome for all the work we did for Jade Quarry.
I’m just glad your deplorable opinion isn’t shared by many of my other friends on the server .

It isn’t. Beyond that, TW are JQ natives and are always welcome as dear friends.
They left exactly because “empty maps” i.e. the good fights lately become a rare commodity and the players are trying to save their preferred game mode by themselves. Good changes are needed desperately, because every WvW player lost makes the situation worse.
