I get the feeling that this is how maps will be…

See eotm and the individual sides?

So I see 1 desert bl, 1 revamped alpine map, 1 new snow map and a visually updated EB map…

This will be the set up, not all three sides being the exact same map.

Thoughts?

I doubt they’ll make any sort of replacement maps for WvW any time soon. They just came out with a new map, and while it was a complete failure for numerous reasons, it was still a lot of developer time, energy and money. Anet’s never really been one to backtrack on their mistakes, so they’ll probably just focus on making a bunch of small changes to avoid fixing their giant deserted mistake. Polishing the proverbial kitten , so to speak. Which will only lead to further player attrition, to the point where all they’ll need is a single instance of EB, because that’s all they’ll be able to fill.

They crapped the bed pretty bad here. They had a window to recover, and they missed it entirely. They didn’t even so much as acknowledge it. With the new RvR coming out, it’s going to be a very fast ride downhill from here on out. If you neglect your girlfriend for long enough, she’s gonna be someone else’s girlfriend and she’ll never come back. The same concept applies here. Only not only was there the neglect, but then they gave us our own shoes for our birthday, and stuck us with the bill for having them polished. There’s plenty of other games out there where the developers will actually value their customers, and treat them with respect. Anet’s been given countless second chances, and has failed with pretty much every single one of them. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out how this is going to end up.

I think they just tossed in what was ready, and it happened to be this one map…

I have no idea if they are working on another map or not, if they did that might be the case. Though I’d guess at a Jungle/Swamp themed before snow, since we already have (had) Alpine for that.

What we might see in the near future is them trying to create a rotation of BL maps, as they have mentioned wanting to do earlier. Just no clue how they are going to solve it with only 2 BL maps. Probably something like every other week 3 alpine/desert.

Would love to see them dare to change it up with 2/1 alpine/desert or other way, so we got both maps in play at the same time.

(Obligatory note: that I personally hope they move away from the whole "Home" map system, and change the maps up to work more like EBG, so they can add in as many or few maps as they want for the population, without creating any mess with homeland advantages.)

this would be a good solution so people that wanna play this terrible map, can play on this alliance war system and people that like the good old sandbox game type wvw, get their old maps/mechanics back until a new wvw map that is actually a wvw map and not a recycled pve map, comes out

…did you just “ready” ? …no, I understand you’re really just trying to say “most recent playable version of this one map” … at least, I hope that’s what you meant. The WvW updates certainly weren’t …ready.

It’s interesting to speculate, however does anyone really think Anet will hurry to introduce any new maps after the last one?

If each “borderlands” is a different map you risk the problem we already see – with players favouring one map to the exclusion of the others. Using the example suggested in the original post I would not be surprised to see queues for whichever BL is Alpine, maybe queues for EB and two empty new maps. How this will affect the match up scores is anybody’s guess.

Of course, Swagger may well reply saying that there need not be any servers disadvantaged because we’ll all be mega-server teams (I’m suggesting this response is likely based on his other posts and ideas – it is an assumption though and perhaps he’ll say no to mega-server after all).
However it could well be that what the OP really envisages is a 4 map EotM set up, which I suspect would please the WvW community about as much as the introduction of the Deserted Borderlands did.

That was just a statement. I’m not nor have ever been a part of any testing.

I’m going by what Colin’s statements were about wvw stuff.
