Would you look at that. I be wrong. But I think there’s some parts of value in here somewhere so I’ll leave it.
Now this isn’t necessarily going to be a thread Q.Qing about why being teamed up on by the other two servers is cheating or anything of the such. I don’t believe there are any rules stating that two worlds can’t both attack someone at the same time. I was just thinking from a fair competitive standpoint, at what limit should this be allowed?
I’m from the server DB and this past week both us and BP have been getting stomped by SBI. They clearly did their thing well. And to secure their lead it makes sense to focus majority of their efforts on DB because we were in 2nd place and they don’t want us to catch up. From BP’s standpoint we are the one to take down since we are the best chance of them getting out of last place. So of course majority of the week we would be fighting two pronged battles between SBI and BP. Totally cool. Very good decisions from both those servers knowing who they should attack at what times. I think this is good. This is the reason there are three servers in wvw because it adds much more strategic depth.
Now the issue I have is when this is taken a step further which I will get into eventually. So, even against these odds DB for majority of the week maintained their second place position. We would go through day after day of getting crushed, but then night after night of making our comebacks. Really cool that we had this back and forth position and were able to maintain second place. But during the last couple of days things changed. SBI started attacking BP less and attacked us more. Now they would still attack BP, I mean how dare they control any of SBI’s 3/3’ds of the maps. But their main focus was us. I mean many of the players from SBI came from DB so of course there’s such a rivalry there and that’s cool. It makes things harder for us but hey gives us a challenge to overcome. Overcame it we did. On this last day in the evening and morning we pushed a whole 7000 point lead over BP controlling 100% of all the maps and having just sick overall control of everything, scavanging for any points we could get to gain more of a lead on BP. It was incredibly motivating and we had some strong momentum going into the remainder of the day before reset.
However, something incredibly unexpected happened. SBI decided to take a hiatus from doing anything vs BP. In fact they let BP have 100% control nearly of all their lands except their EBG 3rd. SBI spent their time fighting us while BP would spend their time fortifying their position since they had no worries of anyone really threatening them. Once they finished their fortifications, SBI stopped doing their thing and let BP take over fighting a much less fortified DB with their incredibly fortified BP, courtesy of SBI.
Now one might suggest: “Hey, maybe BP just took a last minute struggle and pulled all their strength from their server to fight not only SBI but DB on an incredibly different level. Because of this they are finally dominating the wvw server.”
To this I would respond with two very important concepts. One, if they had such a powerful wvw crew for their server that could crush both SBI and DB at the same time, why would they wait until now to use it? Why not use it in the beginning to secure a 1st place rather than a 2nd place? Two, during the week with DB and SBI literally ignoring each other most of the time and double teaming SBI, SBI still came out with an incredibly dominate lead. Would they really lose to BP alone when BP + DB together stood no chance?
The point is the strategy they used was this: SBI will let BP have all their territory and focus on holding of DB while BP fortifies their position. Then when that is finished, SBI will allow BP and DB to duke it out so BP can aquire not only SBI’s but DB’s territory. The reason is if SBI were not to help BP out BP with a 7000 point deficite would not be able to gain a 2nd place finish this week. And whoever of DB and BP finishes 2nd gets 4th place in our division. It’s an incredibly important match.
