Hi,
i have read much in the forum about night capping, server transfers, WTJ Winning Team joiners, …

The only possible solution in my Opinion is to get nearly equal team sizes in wvw.

positive effects:
- more interesting fights
- tactics and skill get more important and decide the war
- overrolling is reduced
- extensive night capping is prevented, as there are also equal defenders
- server transfers and WTJ to a high populated server is less beneficial
- population will equal out to all servers, even equals out in the night if people shift to less populated servers, so they can join wvw and get shorter waiting time.
- new tactics for wvw map switching.

negative effects:
- waiting line will extend in high populated servers, until population moves to low populated servers
- waiting line will extend when you play against servers with small populations
- some regional servers with massive amount of specific time zone players have to split up (and fight each other). Think about russian server where people are active when everybody else in the world sleeps.
- some people may be kicked out of wvw.

How to get nearly equal servers:
There should be a permanent calculation how many players are in the 4 wvw zones of each server. This could be easy calculation, as lowest active server (or medium overall activity of all 3 servers) +xx% or +xx players. If a server is above new players cant join and have to wait until slots are free.

But there are some cases where this won´t work:
If the lowest populated server A goes to sleep and 20 players server leave wvw, the others player amouts of server B and C must be reduced. So they have to be kicked, for example the players with longest wvw session first, with a 5-10 minute timer, no kick if they are in fight.

Prevent abusing this system:
If a server is in front with +20000 points, or a enemy is just getting in their Tower/Keep they use a sneaky tactic and may all log out. In this case the kick timer should be long enough and they should be are already in fight. Also there should be a minimum where players are not further reduced. So even if Server a has only 5 active players in one wvw map and only 30 people in all 4 maps, the enemy still has the minimum of 60 overall.

What do you think of aiming for equal team sizes in wvw?
May this be a possible solution?
I may be wrong, thx in advance for feedback.

this is not tol borad. this is wvw.

what you ask for would make this tol borad.

if we wanted tol borad, we would go play wow. but we want wvw so we play gw2.

wvw is meant to be unbalanced and unfair. it is classic traditional pre wow mmo pvp in it’s own box so pve only players need not be impacted.

it seems though, that that doesn’t matter. that people will still complain that it’s just not fair, it’s not fair that pvp happened, and it’s not fair that I didn’t win!

who doesn’t love wow clones?

wvw is meant to be unbalanced and unfair. it is classic traditional pre wow mmo pvp in it’s own box so pve only players need not be impacted

From my experience, the most impacted are PvPers, the people most happy with one sided affairs are Pvers wanting karma/xp/map completion/safe access to the EB jumping puzzle and bandwagon jumpers.

I’m on Desolation (and have been there since headstart), there have been many times the maps are a total whitewash (or near to it) in our favour, which has resulted in this response “this is ******** boring as hell, I’m off” by people that actually want to PvP.

Saying that I have no idea how to make it better, kicking people does not sound like the answer.

after queueing for 2 hours and playing for 5 mins, get kicked cause we outnumber them ?
‘encourage’ players of your own side to go to a different map to reduce the amount of enemy players as a result ?

1. after queueing for 2 hours you are the last player who got in, so before you everyone else will get kicked before you. Also there is still the minimum player amount.
That means you won´t get kicked for a long time. Only in case there is much fluctuation in your server and massive player drop, rise and drop again in the enemy server.
2. Going to a different wvw map doesn´t reduce the amount of players in total 4 wvw maps, so this doesn´t reduce the enemy player numbers.

i’m sure people will find a reason to yell at other people to leave w3 due to a system like this.

if you want balance, go spvp, not w3
