WvW needs more task for small groups
I think there should be events in every half hour. Example an orb spawn on ruins and you must to run it, king of the hill, kill the priest, keep the dont know what as long as possible in your hands etc

Lol, the orbs! They’re back…problem with those event is that the last time we had them (referencing when orbs used to be in the game) hacking became overly rampant, and it detracted from the game.
If they could add these events minus the hacking, I would be all down for it!
Capture camps, kill dollys, kill guards, kill roamers, plenty of things to do solo. You only need a few people to build a ram, take an unguarded keep. You can scout for bigger groups as well.
People are so spoiled nowadays, thinking you need an entire blue tagged zerg to do anything. Seriously, a full border will come to a grinding halt if blue tag leave. People just dont know what to do. A larger WvW server wont help you figure out what to do when outnumbered, people are just as apprehensive.
I would like some small missions like Stronghold, where we summon units by running supply to a certain location.
I mostly run in a small havok group these days, there are things you can do as mentioned as a solo dual or 5 man havok squad in wvw. Take sentries, kill dolys, take camps, take towers, capture bloodlust, scout on enemy movements, kill enemy roamers/havok doing those exact things to your side. Even when outnumbered, nothing drops morale more than seeing your entire bl another color, so help out and keep the smaller things in your color.
WvW is about war with 3 sides, I’m not sure adding in pve events or mini games like king of the hill events will help. The ruins were added to be a place for the smaller groups to fight over something, and instead it’s just become an annoyance that needs to be recaptured every few minutes.
Orbs were a problem with fly hacking, they won’t return. You could put down open capture areas on the ground that sides can fight over, whomever caps it gets some extra points, but then population imbalances would ruin that.
Summon npc units with supply? We kinda have that with siegerazor and crusher. Before those were put in I use to like the idea of summoning units to help when outnumbered. Sorta looked to alterac valley battlegrounds in wow back in the day when you could summon units for your side.
Image a keep on homebl has been held for more than 6 hrs by the enemy, bring 1000 supply to spawn and summon a giant to come help break the outer wall down lol. I wouldn’t mind stuff like that as long as the trigger to do them was reasonable, not like every 5 mins like siegerazor.
I still wouldn’t mind the idea of putting in some repeatable events for times when your bl is dead and need something to do, still the option to kill the skritt and centaurs events in the north corners of the map. Just as long as it’s not stuff you “have” to do away from everything else like the ruins are now.

Not trying to be mean but if you liked stronghold go play stronghold when it comes out. I beta’ed it both times and had fun the first time and well this time around not so much. Its just a zerg race to lords and we completed a few matches in about 4 mins and fought basically no one except NPC’s. Actually that was how most of the matches went and would have actually been more fun but most people are stuck on the “zerg” tactic..
There are lots of things to do as a small group, it is just that people think you need zergs to do everything.. Yes it sucks at times getting zerged down but that is all just part of wvw. I’m usually in a party with 2 -3 guildies (new guild) sometimes we have 5 and we can actually pull the enemy zergs from maps by hitting their big objectives elsewhere. We always laugh at how many people they send for just us and if you think about it, you are helping your commander out if he is on another map since they sent the zerg after you. We’ve busting in keeps as a small man group and have wiped larger groups. Not all the time but it really can be a lot of fun if they keep sending smaller waves of enemies at you..
Also there are events in EBG. Dredge, Hylek and Ogres, that help you take and will defend a camp when you capture them. I used to come here and say “break out of your zergs people” but for some people they have fun zerging and really we all just play games to have fun anyway.
If the update of the ‘no swords’ showed anything is that small groups can do a lot more than you think.
That is what got me into WvW fully. Going with 3-5 people, and pulling an entire map queue worth and running for our lives while they seek around for the rest of us that dared touch their keep, which in turn allowed the commander elsewhere freedom for a bit.
There will be many tasks for small groups:
- defend/kill dolyaks
- heal dolyaks
- kill sentries
- defend/conquer shrines
- conquer/defend camps
- defend towers (important short cuts for your team)
- scout movement of hostile groups
- hold bottlenecks and hinder enemies with shield generators
- attack towers
- place supply traps on decent locations like bottlenecks

To expand on that maybe they could add spvp type/achievement tracks for wvw, only you put specific progress and rewards in there.
For example a track on Dolyaks for borderlands, separate one for ebg.

If you check out gw2score, you may find that a lot of servers have at least 1/4 their overall points not coming from PPT. This includes stuff like dolyak kills and bloodlust stomps.
These actions add up and do make a difference. Havoc parties can often acquire more points than say, a karma train zerg that doesn’t ensure stuff gets held for a tick or two.
