WvW not welcoming to low level characters
anet just made leveling your character much less fun by reducing the traits you can use by like 60%
(at lvl 40 i can use 1 trait… before the change i could use 3 at that point…)
doesnt look like they want to give players a reason to do anything on their lowlvl but level it to 80 the fastest way…
pretty sad
edit:
If I may restate my original post more succinctly: I can enter WvW at level 2, but see no good reason to do so.
you can help the enemy server by being a rallybot if you dont like your own server

It’s true. Leveling was annoying but tolerable but the new system is trash. To make matters worse uplevels are now even weaker while they could at least stay alive with some traits. They can’t do that anymore.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Go EoTM and join the upscaled lvling karma train there. This is little to be gained from going on the main wvw maps as an upscaled- less loot, more deaths.
Hint hint, the gem shop harvesting tools are not level restricted. :P
1. Do not purchase siege and upgrades if you’re strapped for cash, you’ll thank me later. You’ll end up leashing yourself to structures to make sure they don’t flip or siege doesn’t despawn while everybody else is having fun fighting.
2. Use the zerg as a meat shield, bring ranged skills, and play as defensively as possible.
3. Realize some PvP centric players on your server will shun you because of the ridiculous rally system and don’t take it too personally.

Thanks, I will try this next.

Go with the meta and zerg in EoTM.

Loosmaster with all due respect, to heck with the meta and to heck with zergs. I expect a little bit more from GW2. However I will try EoTM.
Let’s just hope you’re Green, lol

This ^^ EotM is essentially a PvE map where you once in a while fight people. It is a good middle ground between PvE and WvW.
WvW is designed as end game content. Really, anytime you face another human versus AI you need to have not necessarily the best gear but at least all your skills.
While you can enter WvW as a level 2, you won’t have a good time and neither will anyone who has you on their side.
On the other hand, you can do reasonably well just short of 80.
I suggest you go take an 80 to wvw and treat it as a second beginning for your character!
But it seems like Anet could take a look at making WvW more inviting/rewarding for low level characters.
With the new trait system, Anet has made WvW far less inviting for low level characters.
everytime I see that upscale arrow, I rush you down
you basically have no armour so my crit does 15k to you… they should fix the upscale stats.
Heres my list of thing that will help up levels in wvw.
Remove down state so they dont rally
that is all thank you
Digital Sacrifice Guild
The big reason low level characters are discouraged is because they often end up rallying enemies in zerg fights.
If you’re looking for a way to just level up in WvW, EotM is the place to go – there is usually a karma train going on, which will get you experience, wxp, badges and some money at the same time.
On the regular maps, I would suggest joining a WvW guild. While they will still prefer level 80s, some guild are absolutely fine with you running whatever you want, just be sure to ask when you’re applying or talking to their recruiters! You should try to make sure the guild is a good fit for what you want out of the game, just as they want you to be a good fit for their guild.

www should remain a death area for players, special for new one .
www is a gw2 sandbox end game and experience matters.
there is always the eotm maps where a new player can take experience to raise his wexp rank and be 80 lvl to be competitive before access the www.
also a new player takes a lot more exp from story line quests than by playing in www.

Can’t say I see the problem with a level 2 character being ineffective versus level 80s. They give you a shed load of hps to squander, so that at least you can play. Can’t really see how it would work any other way. The traits you are now missing didn’t make you any more able to kill a level 80 before the patch anyway.
Ppl who want to level can go in EoTM..it’s literally the perfect map for that. Yet u refuse and come in the main maps where the slots available are limited, tensions are high specially in seasons when ppl are more competitive then usual…and u take the spot of a lvl80 guy who could actually be useful in the fight.
It’s completely expectable to get raged on by the others..specially when u have an alternative map made specially for casuals/upleveled and in a game where lvling up is one of the easiest in any mmos atm. U can make 0-80 in a week by solo playing for 4-5h/day. U can do that even faster in EoTM… Do level 80 then come to the main maps..that easy.
It’s the same as dungeons. Even if a dungeon lvl req is 30 for example…i will kick anyone who is under 80. Because it takes away from the fun of 4 ppl just to carry 1 extra guy who dies all the time.
You can WvW at a low level, you just have to play tactfully and be aware of your limitations. You can still carry supply, which is incredibly valuable. Not to mention, low levels make excellent scouts. It’s all the benefits of having a scout without removing someone valuable from the front lines.
You can find safety running with the map zerg (especially if you’re on TS), and depending on your class you can provide useful fields/blast finishers.
Otherwise, prioritize staying alive over getting tags/kills and you should be fine.
