WvW population balance idea
I feel WvW is lacking a reason to win. Some kind of tournament with rewards might help. However due to loss of world identity, unfairness of linking, population imbalance and coverage issues it is premature to hand out any rewards in WvW.
Your suggestion may work for PvE and sPvP, but WvW is not about individual players.
It is nigh impossible to measure a player’s contribution to the victory. A seasoned scout or commander on field can be a game changer even if they only typed in chat or talked in TS. A pack of zerglings without a commander is as good as finders-keepers lootbags for the enemies. Individual players cannot be credited for PPT which is significant part of your team’s success.
Punishing (reducing rewards) for more players participating is against the foundations of GW2. Players are to be encouraged to take part and welcome more players to join.
As for the balancing, players would probably still rather win with 100% certainty and then take their chances with the contribution ladder. Rather than risk losing the tournament.

It’s been said before that ANet won’t introduce rewards of any sort even for the winning servers because it could cause things like bandwagonning… Which of course, we know doesn’t happen especially now that world linking is in effect… huh?
I get what your trying to say. I have enjoyed previous WvW tournaments very much. But at this time a Tournament would really hurt WvW. They have issues that need to fixed before that can be a thing again.
Blow up all Servers give WvW guilds of respectable activity and size as well as the.active WvW players a choice of which of their WvW guilds they want to stay with Redistribute WvW guilds then seed the rest of the population till the populations are within reasonable balance, then lock all Server transfers for the foreseeable future and for everything to settle make population sizes/map caps as such that they do not Cause the horrible lag due to server load issues. And boom re-evaluate after a couple months and adjust as needed. This may need to result in some Servers disappearing all together if The Servers would be to underpopulated after the Player distribution.
And none of that would be an issue since Server identity/Pride is no longer an actual argument against.
