I have a theory, with absolutely no way to prove it. Let’s call it a series of observations.
According to the Guild Wars Wiki:
“Player limits are not yet finalized, but current estimates are that each of the four maps support up to 500 players, split across the three worlds, for a total upper limit of 2,000 players across the entire WvW match.”
On Kaineng I’ve never seen more than about 30 people (give or take) in any given zone, ever. I always believed this to be an issue of low server population (which is definitely part of it). However, last night something new happened.
Last night there were about 30 of us fighting in Kaineng Borderlands. We APPEARED to be greatly outnumbered, and we had the outmanned buff.
Then my wife decided to join us out there, and we were both shocked when she ended up in queue, granted only for about 45 seconds.
How can you have the outmanned buff and a queue? We appeared to have roughly 30 people in Kaineng Borderlands at the time (which is the most we can usually muster up at prime time), and the zone is supposed to hold roughly 500 people. How are we getting a queue, ever?
When I was playing on DR I’d sometimes get a server queue, only to go out and find when I got in that it appeared we were greatly outnumbered by FC. From Kaineng’s perspective, FC seems like a giant zerg, but when FC moves up a tier, they say they’re greatly outnumbered and can’t even get out of their spawn point. Something seems off here.
Reading these forums, even the #1 and #2 servers going at it, with the #2 server screaming that they are greatly outnumbered in WvW by the #1 server and are backed up all the way to their own spawn point. This is happening all over the place.
It just seems odd to me that in almost every 3 server tier there’s 1 server dominating and two servers that are screaming that they are outmanned.
Could it be that the math determining how many people each server can fit into WvW at the same time is bugged and the matches REALLY ARE that lopsided?
Just an observation. Like I said, no way to prove it, other than my own observations.
