I could understand if the system had a rank limit (but one doesn’t appear to exist) ..

Right now the current system kind of kills my want of taking alts out into WvW

Your mistake is in caring about ranks.

If I see a “bronze colonel” in game, I see someone who has spent far too long PvDing, not someone who is awesome at WvW.

I think it should be character based, but they should be easier to get.

You should be more worried about how ranks are gained.
