I was thinking about the issue we all know about outnumbered servers, a commen solution people come up with is “server merger”. Some say this will cause anger to those who have pride in their servers, well i was thinking if instead of simply merging servers, anet created an alliance system.
Say for example there are 3 alliances, in which all servers choose to join. Instead of RealmvsRealmvsRealm it’ll be AlliancevsAlliancevsAlliance, the number of maps for AvAvA would be determined by the calculation on how much players wvw in all servers.
Players will join an alliance, when they play a WvW game they get to choose either T1/T2/T3 map to play on, they would be then placed in their servers chosen alliance. Probably players will be able to choose which Tier they want to wvw in, quing up if it’s full. This seems to me as an esay solution, which players who wvw in empty worlds don’t have to, they can choose to fight for their alliance in either. Tiers would be represented by the most populated Alliance vs Alliance vs Alliance map (A v A v A = W v W v W ).
I think this solves the pride issue because you will have pride for your alliance and respect to other servers serving in your alliance. I think this is a great solution since people will stick to servers instead of switching to higher populated WvW ones, also give players more aspects to try out populated or low populated AvAvA matches.
Also i’d assume servers would have a poll in which alliance they’d want to join. This is my rough sketch in a solution, which i’ve gathered from others solutions/ideas.
Anyway please add and discuss how to better improve this idea!
