Sup,
So I got an Eir’s longbow as a random drop (yay!) and it sure beats the hell out of the healing rare bow I had before. I always dabbled around with trying to make a longbow warrior work, but had limited success. I came to my senses a while back and realized gearing/specc’ing for conditions as a warrior is stupid cause we lack the tools needed to make it work like other classes (engi/necro/ranger condi bomb dumps on people) and so I need your help.

Have any of you roamers (solo or SMALL groups, 5 or less) made your longbow warrior work? If so, what build/gearing did you use? How did you find the sustainability to pull off what the roamer thieves / eles do so effortlessly? Is that even possible? I’ve played warrior for a while but for the sake of discussion and theorycrafting pretend I installed the game yesterday and explain your experiences as a longbow + X warrior.

(For reference I’m currently running P/V/T armor, ruby orbs, Emerald Acc’s + zerker jewels, guild p/v/t backpack + zerker jewel. Trying 10/30/0/10/20 out with GS/Longbow…)

Try posting this in the Warrior forum and just state that you’re talking about WvW. You’re far more likely to find a person who plays Warrior and willing to help out with Warrior-specific builds in the forum designed for that

Hey braxxus. As a fellow Yaks bender I will share with you a longbow build i’ve been running. you’ll have to bear with the descriptions as my gear is kinda all over the place and mixed and matched to get the stats i want.

And before all the build criticizers jump in here and tell me what all is wrong with my set up and how much better it could be, keep in mind that i really dont care, this works in my hands and i’m gonna share it.

Mostly use this in small groups and a little bit of roaming.

Weapons: Longbow/Sword and shield

Traits: 0/30/20/0/20
Arms traits are III, V, and XI
Defense traits are V and IX
Discipline traits are VI and either X or VII

Utilities: Healing surge, Shake it off, Endure pain, signet of stamina and signet of rage

Gear: Knights chest and legs, Valkyrie shoulders helm hands and boots all with superior runes of the pack. Beryl amulet, and Coral earrings and rings. Rampagers longbow with Superior sigil of corruption, Rampagers sword with superior earth sigil and apothecary shield with Superior Air sigil.

Now before everyone gets their jimmies all riled up about me not having the stronger bowstrings trait in the vitality line, I never really found the need for it. However, Braxxus if u want to put it in there feel free to take away one of the other traits (I havent found one that I can do without to be honest).

Usage: pretty simple. build adrenaline with the auto attack and skill 3 on the bow, lay down fire field for ur party, switch to sword and jump into it for fire aura, and by this time u should have enough adrenaline to do F1 on the sword.

Its by no means a perfect build but I find it fairly solid with decent damage output, particularly when running with a group. Adrenaline builds up real fast with the bow auto attack hitting twice, and if they both crit the arms trait can really pile on the adrenaline. Try it out let me know what u think. Open to legitimate constructive feedback.

Warrior in WvW is already bad enough. Warrior roaming? Yeah good luck with that. Best I can do is recommend the Yojack bleed build on the warrior forums.

Warriors can most certainly be effective with conditions you just have to build for it. I’d be happy to share my build with you in game or you may choose to go with the builds currently on here. I usually suggest trying several builds and seeing what you like best or don’t even follow any of them exactly and mix and match a bit. Warrior WvW is just fine I play in small groups, roam, solo, play in larger groups. Warriors play well in all of these situations. You just have to learn the class and play differently in certain situations.

Add me your friend’s list and pm me ingame when i’m online .I will tell u all u need to know about longbow synergy.I used longbow on my warrior since launch and it’s the best weapon to pair with anything.

Also do not listen to ppl telling u that warriors are bad at anything.They are misleaded because they think warriors are like thieves ,just because many bad players with awfull builds play them does not mean the cannot be good.Actually warriors are beasts atm with a right spec.

Why roam on a warrior. Successful roaming is more about mobility than actually winning fights 1v1 or even small group, because there are some fights you just won’t win, vs any significant greater odds, and you need to be able to get away in these situations or its the end of your roaming. That’s why practically all roamers are one of two classes, thieves (often P/D abusing culling) or D/D eles. Occasionally mesmer if they are good, but I don’t see too many.

Some people wonder why there aren’t more roamers to fight, its because other profs don’t get the same tools to be good at it, and game is not balanced. Even if you as a warrior defeat (or start defeating) one of these more typical roamers, they are going to run away from you, then reengage till odds go in their favor.
