if your server is losing badly, so what? next week you will be put in a different match with softer foes that you will dominate, you may aswell dont bother this week at all and wait for that.

if you are doing bad, so what? noone knows who you are, and you dont know that the same guy killed you 50 times this week. there’s no motivation to push your own limits, you are just another nobody hiding among the herd.

see, what made WvW “click” for so many people in DAOC was a strong sense of realm self-worth, and long lasting rivalries both personal and inter-realm. none of which can be found here at all

  • let people see each other’s names so we can have a good amount of personal rivalry and grudges

as it is now, noone gave a kitten from the start, and still today noone gives a kitten . WvW is something that people does for fast exp or to get their fix for big battles, but only as long as their personal performance is meaningless and they are just another body for the meatgrinder

DAOC kept people playing solely WvW for years without tiring. here the vast majority dont bother playing for more than 1 month before either giving up completly, using it as a farm spot, or feeling the need to take looong periods of vacations before joining WvW again.

I’d rather they were permanent, like on the good old DAOC. all in all they have had a whole kitten year to find the place of each server in the rank so matchups would be fairly even.

but I counted on the bottom of the barrel kitten poor players complaining that they wouldnt be able to demote ranks till finding a server they could beat so they felt a lil bit better about themselves.

turns out I was kitten right. ty for replying to my thread. now go back to hide in the back of the zerg doing as little as possible, lest someone finds out you dont know how to fight your way out of a paper bag.

Create guild that has only one member (you). Problem solved.

NOTE! This was toungue-in-cheek comment, I realize most people want to be in guild that has other members.

Most of the time it not so hard to figure out who is who in roaming and you can always /invite party. Not all people accept party invites though.

I like current match-up system better than stagnant match-ups (tiers/longer match-ups).

well, i play on low popuplated server, we don’t have the numbers to play vs full servers, especially ones that are like rank 4 etc.

last week that is what happend, we faced 2 high populated servers + server was widely abusing hacks on top of it so it ended up like 5 of us defending with 70 ppl zergs

i know for fact, i don’t want to face same server again ever; i like how it changes every week, forces people actually come to wvw instead of sitting for 3 months and like w/e we have time

i will tell you why names are not shown: so people don’t go on other servers and talk crap to each other; the community in this game is great, let’s not ruin it

3 months!? Good god no. Please no. The switch at the end of the week always draws people back in to see what the new matchup is like. And at the lower tiers we’ve had some matchups that would make 3 months feel like 3 years.

As long the game is only about who has highest population 24/7 points do mean nothing.

So i rather have a system where we can fight a new good guild every few days.

Or if they would change the point system so its more about who is better..
Like points given for objectives changes when there are more or lesser enemies in the zone, compared to the number of allies.. So holding an objective with both enemy servers having queues, and you only have like 10 players the objective is woth for example 200 points. If there are no enemies in the zone and your server has a queue the same objective is only worth 5 points.
(so owning and holding objectives during prime time is a lot more worth then early morning raid when there is no one to defend)
And dolyaks bring x number of supplies depending on how many enemies are in the zone. So an upgrade during night time with 0 enemies in the zone the whole time takes +- 10 hours

@OP. Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a post where I disagree with everything written.

1. Longer matches??? No no no. With the exception of T1 in NA, there are not three other servers that match up really well together. After 3 months, people would get really bored. Especially in this new RNG match-up model, resets should happen twice a week. The most popular WvW night of the week is when reset occurs. This should happen 2x a week.

2. Show names? No thanks. I really do not need people messaging me from other servers. Right now I just need to be in a party to prevent that.

Oh, and WvW is already working so your title is wrong too.

The problem is most the kids now a days have such short attention spans that they can’t stay focused on one thing for more than a week or two, and when things ‘get bad’ (IE: they can’t compete), they’d rather just move on then learn to adapt and overcome.

The reality of a prolonged battle between severs is:
- Alliances would form, adding a much more fun dynamic to the game, when one server greatly dominates the other.
- Strategic gameplay would develop, as people began to realize you can’t just zergball around for 1 week.
- People would get bored of the Zerg Ball, and more “Roaming” groups would develope as the focus on PPT would lessen.

You’re being so naive it’s adorable. If there’s a red-lettered tower sticking out like a sore thumb in our frontyard that is tempting you with WXP, XP, coin, karma and map domination, no one would care if you have an “alliance” with that server.
… that would actually benefit you how? Since timetables are so incredibly long in your version, what could conceivably be the goal to winning? If there’s no winning condition, alliances are worthless.

People don’t zerg because of PPT but because it’s fun and gives bags.
If you think you can’t have tactical large-scale combat you should play WvW more often, because you evidently don’t.
Also funny how, when prompted, everyone has a different definition of “zerging”. For some it’s only upwards of 40v40, for some it’s as low as 10v10. Adds further discredit to your position.

We already had servers matched up against each other that lasted months. People complained so it got changed to our glorious system now.

I’m not really a big fan of really long matches. 1 week is enough for me.

No thanks to seeing other player names. I do not trust you people enough to act like a decent human being. I think that you would abuse and troll the players that you lost to because you “think” you are a better player.

I speak for my self and no one else. Only fools believe they speak for a majority.

Anet needs to give players a choice. Instead of always dictating how things are.
I can’t stress how important this is, in every aspect of the game.

For example, instead of simply not showing all player names, give players the choice to toggle whether their own name displays to enemies or not.
