WvW worth it?
Yeah because a few badges, a ton of karma and XP, and the fun of killing people is all just a waste. Did you even pick up your loot bags? Hard to believe you lost 15 silver unless you got killed a lot.
Now you will never get rich in WvW, but you really should not be losing money without doing a lot of upgrades or buying a a lot of seige.
Devona’s Rest
If you are out for personal reward then WvW isn’t for you. If you want to be a team player then winning or doing well for your server is reward in itself.
That’s why I play it.
Very worth it for me, I love WvW. It’s like a pride thing, having pride for your server, defending and capture areas with people from your server working together. It’s like a bond that cannot be broken kind of thing. Best part is when everyone is gathered and storming the gates of the keep, that epic feeling bursts out, trying to get everyone to keep a tight formation, attacking certain points and such.
Also, I you actually gain more than you lose if you collect those supply bags after you kill an enemy/monster. And events give lots too, not just like those random monster events but from capturing supply camps, sentry points, keeps.
WvW is at best a money-neutral proposition for me (being a bubble-blowing guardian).
Why do I play it? Because it’s fun!

It’s very easy to lose money in WvW if you purchase siege weapons and upgrades.
If you’re looking to get money or karma or experience, there are many methods of getting all of those that are much more efficient.
If you want badges your best bet is to run the 4 jumping puzzles daily and then leave WvW.
People play WvW simply because it’s fun.
Is WvW worth it? well no but it should be I mean I spent 2 hours yesterday and I had a lot of fun but still I felt like I just wasted 2 hours of my life since I didn’t achieve anything not even a little game thing which is still wasting my life but a game needs to reward you for spending 2 hours on it. Instead I lost 15 silver. I just though DAM so now I vow to NEVER play WvW ever again till its rewarding.
If your dying a lot and not flipping keeps/camps, or killing other players much. The repair bill you have should be expected.
Try playing with your guild in a group as a team. You will die less, and generally have a net profit of a gold+ for your WvW time.
PvP is for fun and competition. If you want to amass gold, game already supports that. Just take out your credit card and buy as many Gems as you want.
The reward is the enjoyment of it in itself.
As for gold, I come out on top every day and I probably drop more siege than anyone on my server, as well as purchasing several upgrades.

WvWvW is the best feature of this great game.
Could be a stand-alone game in itself.
Only problem right now is that the material rewards of it (Badges of Honor, gear drops, etc) are miser and in short time a lot of people will not play it anymore and WvWvW will suffer greatly from it because the more people plays it the more fun it gets.
If you are not careful about avoiding death, the armor repairs will take a toll on your bank account..:)
I hope ANet improves dramaticaly the rewards of WvWvW in the near future. Karma farming in Orr is a very boring and risk free activity and you can get loads of gold and drops while in WvWvW you get almost nothing. Just for your information, in my case I get in average a Badge of Honor for every 8 enemies killed which is a pretty low drop rate (and yes, I loot all bags).
Thanks and best regards,
Red
Move to winning servers and you too will have fun. You will also get tons of exp, karma, silver, and badges with no fear of even dieing.
Me? I try to see how long I can last against 30+ dudes everyday. I made it up to 30 seconds once.
I think the rewards are ok, unless you run around solo a lot for whatever reason you’ll make more than what you spend.
Though I do think they should increase badge of honor drops, or decrease the cost of things you buy with them.
I make about 1g-3g a day as a Mesmer in WvW… I die maybe 1-2 times and kill about 100 people or so… I also play solo so I always get loot bags and majority of the time I get 1-2 badges.
Events give silver… aim to do those… when you are at a camp, rush the dolyaks… taking down 2 dolyak then the camp is a stack of 3 events in 60 seconds of your life. Look for the next camp to take or a sentry. Quaggons is another easy event that pays well.
I use master kits and make 1-3 Orichalcum ore from heavy armors I get as loot… most of the time it is mithril. But selling the mithril at 30c each will add up and the Orichalcum at 3s…
Also jump puzzles give you blue prints… you can sell them at 50% off to players making several gold each day especially if you get alpha golems and trebs.

Honestly speaking, as painful as it may be to admit
to directly answer your question which I bolded
until such time as AN actually looks at wuvwuv instead of pretending it
1. does not exist
2. not broken
3. something besides a casual place they don’t want to be “end game” which we have turned it into
NO
:( sad but true

If you feel like you need to be constantly rewarded in games to feel like you aren’t wasting your life, please stop playing games altogether.
The more you put into wvw, the more you will get out of it.. that goes for pretty much everything.. ever.
Join a guild.. get connected with other guilds who wvw, communicate.. learn what wins the match ups.. learn what is effective in wvw.. find your niche in there and enjoy it for what it is.

Since you can drop them on the ground with ` and put them intro bag with 2

You had fun, and yet you felt like you wasted those 2 hours? In real life when you have fun does that mean you need to achieve something as well?
WvW is quite possibly the most addictive thing you can do in this game.
Try spending 6 hours a day 7 days a week and get nothing but badges which you dont need except to buy more siege.
It’s not worth doing imo, and really takes way too much time

Then don’t do it? No one’s forcing you. Myself I’m having a great time in WvW.

I always thought MMO meant you played with and against a ton of other people. Somehow it morphed into a few people trying to kill a computer boss. Glad GW2 came about. Just wish WvW was even bigger.

If you have expectations of team-work… you might be in the wrong place too… at least for defense. I try my best not to think about how many golds I was spent on upgrades only to see my ‘team’ ignore threats… only to show up to flip a camp after it’s been taken… after the cash, siege, time, and effort it took to build it up was totally wasted.
My suggestion- decide before you go in how much you are willing to spend in coin… and don’t go over. If folks don’t want to do upgrades… it’s because they don’t want to defend it…. which means it’s plain stupid for you to spend any cash at all.
Never upgrade a supply camp more than twice. Not worth it…ever.
Do the jumping puzzle… not the EB one…every other day… certain 4-5 badges per toon… not per account… (I have 5 toons… I spend about an hour…and I have 20-25 badges and each has more siege).
For the rest… it’s if you are having fun. Join a zerg and just rush around… that’s probably what I will do…and have a blast doing it.

I wish it had more dynamics… I’m missing the original Alteric Valley… back when you summoned the Eagles, the Giant, etc… Wow vanilla Alteric Valley… that’s what is missing in Wv3. That little bit extra.

I only wish I had that problem
