Greetings WvW Junkies & Bystanders Alike,
With so much negativity spewing over these forums I figure it’s high time for some constructive posts that highlight some of your favorite foes and why.

For me, my favorite matchup has been Isle of Janthir. After weeks of fighting these guys and so many different leadership styles going on over there they were one of my favorite to fight. They were typically honorable and always fought tooth and nail no matter how the odds were. I can’t point the finger at any guild in particular but have to give them all a firm salute and I hope to fight against them again someday.

Ok folks, the year is rapidly coming to a close so I thought I’d run an unofficial contest.

Who has the best server out there overall? Who are our unsung heroes? What has impressed you during your time WvWing?

Rules are simple:

Nominate the best server in GW2 based solely on in-game matches and posts you’ve read here on the forums. Game scores and rank does not count. You’re welcome to post screen shots/video and details as to why you picked this server as your winner.

The hard part: YOU CANNOT NOMINATE YOUR OWN SERVER. This is you taking note of how your fellow competitors have played and what has impressed you. It can be anything from a surprise tactical attack, to how the server’s players represent themselves on the forum or in game, or both.

You can only vote once, but you’re more than welcome to engage in the discussion as often as you like. Your first post in the thread will be considered your official vote, so if you change your mind, be sure to go back and edit it.

I’ll tally up the votes on December 31 at noon EST and announce the winner later that day.

Ok fine I’ll start.

I nominate Yak’s Bend. This server is the epitomy of class, both in game and on this forum. For the number of players they have, they put up a massive fight and are fierce defenders of their realm. On the forums, they are nothing but ladies and gentlemen and participate in discussions respectfully. (CD is a close second for me for similar reasons).

I nominate the one with the most transfers.

Fort Aspenwood… how they put up with some of the servers and shenanigans those servers resort to is beyond me.

On EU, its undoubtably FSP for me.. Amazing people. Good community.
They got night capped from 2nd rank down to tier 6 now. And u dont see the 10% of qq or ego that top servers have. Only downside is.its not too wvw focussed.

I nominate Devona’s Rest because of it’s ORIGINAL members and player base… Being from Blackgate, I’ve never went against your server but anyone that is willing to fight it out in T8 for months on end and having huge WvW guilds leave time and time again is no easy task to endure. Now I see you guys getting a huge boost to tier 6 after a week long streak with 450+ in PPT. It’s one hell of a feat to make it out of t8 and continue advancing strong into the upper ranks. Really hope to see you guys up in the higher tiers where your server belongs

TC, for their epic WvW team.

Gunnar’s hold.
The server that I’ve had the most fun times with while roaming.
Skilled players, lot’s of /bows and honourable fights we’re had.

Despite them losing most of the big guilds, they still fought valiantly during our match-up.

Far shiverpeaks comes in at a close second for having great individual skill and sportive behaviour.

Both these servers deserve better rankings, hands down.

Desolation. Had some awesome fights with IRON, FG, GoD and the like during our matchup. Many great guilds and fighting spirit.

Sanctum of Rall…

I’m sure that if BG goes to T1 that i’m going to transfer down to T2 just to fight those guys again…

From a European perspective:

Best commitment – Vizunah Square

Best tactics – Desolation/Elona’s Reach

Best Guild – RG (Red Guard – Blacktide), the most impressive/terrifying thing in WvW.

SBI- WM were by far the most advanced guild I have played against. The entire server is organised and solid, even the pugs. They have a loyal bunch on their servers and built it themselves through what seems to be a great community and strong W3 reputation.

Looking for more nominations! C’mon now’s the time to nominate a server that’s impressed you in WvW!

I’ve been impressed by server forum attitude and action of Tarnished Coast and Sanctum of Rall from afar since I’ve never gotten to play against them. Of those JQ has battled against (regularly I might add) Stormbluff Isle hands down has some of the most dedicated players out there. /cheers

I was impressed by Piken Square back when we fought them (I was on Gunnar’s Hold at the time): they had very tight ranks and they did pull off some impressive tricks. Kudos

They seem to have some folks with great attitudes and generally both win and lose with grace.

This could be interesting and if the community pushes for it, maybe we can get some Anet backing.

We always had a good laugh when we’re talking about you guys. It seems everyone can crack up a JQ joke. From the massive transfers to camping the JP @EB to mindless zerging. Above all we managed to stay T1 from the beginning until now.

Throwing in another nomination for Tarnished Coast.

As the upper tier rankings have stabilized in the past couple of months, TC has shown that they have the skill and manpower to stay at the top. Not only that, but they do it with a very upbeat and gracious demeanor.

Aren’t there like… categories? Because for an example I would nominate Vizunah Square for consistency, but definitely not for being “the best” or anything.

At the moment it’s just one category — something you noticed done well by another server — but maybe next year I’ll make it more detailed. Rooster I love your idea of categories, maybe that’s what we’ll use for 2013!

I nominate SoS because they’re the only server to really challenge SoR’s NA Prime time. We lack the numbers around the clock, but I hope to one day be back against SoS for some real top notch fighting. I’ve also played with/against 80% of SoS’s guild since most of them were transfers from Dragonbrand server. So I do know how respectful they can be, and how tactical they are.

I’m late, but PINK wherever the hell they are(and whatever server they are on), for the awesome Golem duel we had with them at the end of one of our matchups!

Of the servers I have come up against the ones that have impressed me the most (in no particular order) are TC, FA and Mag.

Since I have to pick only one I have to find some way to seperate them, thus since both Mag and to a lesser extent FA have a few players who spoil their image on the forums (only a few, the majority are reasonable) my vote goes to TC as I can’t recall ever seeing a TC poster being disrespectful or trolling.

I want to nominate the Tarnished Coast Militia. On alot of servers, the elite WvW guilds run the show and the “pugs,” as they call them, either get in line or get out of the way, but not our crew. The TC militia is always quick to respond either on their own, or while being led with a bag full of supplies, siege and yes, tons of GOLEMS. TC wouldn’t be T2 without that great community.

DERRRP, my bad. I read this post like 2 days ago and I swear it said you could! Okay, okay.

I guess I’ll return the favor and say Yak’s Bend! In the early days of the first week of Yaks/FA/TC matchup, when it was still somewhat even, I once asked one of my commanders in mumble why we spend so much time in FA and not Yaks. His answer was quite simply “The Yaks defend really well.” I didn’t understand it at the time till we finally did get a chance to hit their map and saw the dedication to defense of homeland. I was very impressed.

Their good spirit makes them a destination server for anyone looking to find a good wvw server in the lower tiers to ride up to the top. Keep it up Yaks!

Seeing that we are prohibited from nominating our own servers I will have to, based upon my entirely subjective experiences, throw my name into the Yak’s Bend hat. That being said, I think we all know that Tarnished Coast has this in the bag.

Mine goes to those who stayed on ET. They may have gotten it worse than us but they still get out there every day.

I’m nominating Devona’s Rest, this weeks battle has been extremely enjoyable. Their offensive/defensive teams are very well organized and put up one hell of a fight. I wish them the best of luck as they climb up the Tiers.
