So, any updates when the mesmer portal/ invisible enemies issue will be fixed?
WvsW is unplayable at the moment. The guilds “Nugos”[Nug] and “GreenFire”[GF ] from Far Shiverpeaks are permanently abusing this and we usually die before we can see anyone of them. We reported their members several times because of exploiting, but nothing happens. It’s frustrating to play against this guilds as long as this isn’t fixed.

You can see four enemy “names”(not even fully rendered), while there were at least 20 [Nug] players.
You can see most of our raid death or downed, while we barely can see anyone of them. And now think about it, how long it takes to kill a player+ his additional health bar during his downed state. 8 of our players are death, while 4 of their players became partly visible during this time( just the “far shiverpeaks” above their heads, not even the character models)
And this is how EVERY fight against [Nug] looks like.

what exactly are they doing?
Most likely abusing the client limitations so you basicly fight against a stealth zerg.

Playing on Vizunas Homemap against [Nug], who are permanently using the mesmer portal/getting invisible exploit is getting boring. if u can’t fix it, the mesmer portal skill should be deactivated until you find a solution.
Mesmer portal has saved our smaller raids numerous times. Just because some jerks are abusing it (we’ve all seen it by now), doesn’t mean a legitimate elite skill should be removed.
I for one consider the Mesmer portal tactics to be valuable within reason, however I do defiantly agree that abusing the clones to back up the game client and create invisible armies should be considered an exploit, I know for a fact that when my guild has fought in WvW we have been killed by invisible armies on several occasions when trying to take a fort/keep etc.

Mesmer portal is used to get into the center of your zerg. It’s a tactic, not an exploit.
Using it to get into the emty keep can be concidered an exploit !maybe!, but using direct mesmer’s mechanics for creating a total mess inside your army is not a bug. Why do you think that invisibslity and portals are made for flight only?

I dont´think that this is an exploit. They use the rendering and performance issues of the game in their favor. Is itkitten gameplay ? for sure, because it takes no skill or no tactic at all. Where the playstyle of GF shines is when you have small room to act like in keeps or in camps. On the open field they loose most of the times because besides that strategy they are not very impressive to be honest. What they need to fix regarding Portals is that you can port such a big amount of People with one portal, they should restrict it to group size.
If I had 1c everytime I’ve been killed by someone I can’t see I’d be rich.. it’s an issue everywhere, blame the client.

Guess what, when we push and actually kill your brainless PUG we also didn’t see you because of the same rendering issue.
Then why you die, and we are alive? Because we use scouts and coordinated voice communications, and you only dying under keep gates, without even trying to play smart.

Thing is, whenever I fought Nug members, I was literally laughing at how weak they are.
Now that they are exploiting bugs, I’m laughing even more, but feel a bit sad about it at the same time, ’cause the free kills will be removed by ANet bans.

Back to topic, there IS a perma invis bug that I know of, and that is not caused by slow rendering and unculling, it’s an actual exploit. Just like the Orb bugging/Lord invul exploit/Flyhack, it will get people banned. If you get killed by someone like this, they usually appear after they finish you for a few seconds, use this time to report them. (But first consider if it was a zerg or a single player/small group, because zergs aren’t exploiting the bug, that’s the real rendering issue, the individuals and groups on the other hand do use it)
I’m curious as to why some people are convinced that its even a rendering/culling issue. I mean Mesmer’s do have an area invisibility skill after all. So if a Mes is porting people on top of you and they are invis then how do you know they aren’t just using their abilities?
I think the people who are defending this as a “tactic” are either players from far shiverpeaks or don’t undestand what these guilds are actually doing.
They are not using the mesmer portal to have an advantage because of the moment of suprise. They are using this to get invisible for the enemy based on server/rendering issues. The two endings of the poral are placed side by side (or even on top of each other) Their raid is going through, gets invisible and kills our raid, because we can’ts see anyone of them, while our character models are fully rendered for them. So we are fighting against invisible [Nug] raids (while they can see us) the whole time. And they are using this permanently!

i love how many guys obvious exploiting this and saying it isnt an issue at all, cause you can use it yourself.
hopefully anet will throw the banhammer. far shiverpeaks might become an quiet unpopulated server when the really ban all the exploiters there, but maybe fairplay gonna win soon.
abusing a bad gamemechanik for the own advantage with the knowledge the opponent has no chance to deal with it in any way, because of technical limits, is just a kitten exploit.
you can keep using it, but you wont play a role in wvw dominating when this will be fixed.

how ever we used this “smart tactic” day before yesterday night with 5(!) guys and killed a 30guys GF-zerg.
i know GF is probably unorganized and they are highly fairplay players (cause they dont glitch maps, dont teleport into claimed bases and dont use mesmer exploit, not!) and yeah we were 5guys random pug with voice.
obvious its just a tactic they cant deal with it and not a form of heavy exploit a mechanic.

When render will be fixed, we will be glad, because you have no explanation for your weaknesses. And we will also not visible for you, because we know game mechanics and skills.

even if FS wouldn’t use any “exploits” and dominate, there will be a bunch of ppl whining and accusing FS guilds and players of cheating. a nobrainer defence

on green boardlands we even took blue briar and hold it for like 2hours while you keep your best to portal down what ever you can.
when the rendering issue is fixed, you are right then you just abusing an inbalanced skill (probably will be fixed before the rendering thing) and if you are still notbanned you can breath out, cause you cant be banned for using an broken skill, but you can be banned for abusing the rendering exploit.
im with you, you will end in 2nd place at the end. cause after yesterday you finally managed to make more guys of us leaving WvW. so actually you have free hands together with the frenchies on the whole, cause no ambitious riverside WvW guild, will abuse the mesploit. so we just wait till anet fix it.
but are you serious complaining about “night domination” from riverside over shiverpeaks? just because we hold a supply camp in night to get in score in front of you.

You clearly don’t understand the issue.
Mesmer Portals + Stealth + Zerg = Tactic
Mesmer Portals + Taking advantage of Rendering issue + Zerg = Exploit
The people using the mesmer portals in this case are exploiting the culling system that is a known issue. Taking advantage of a unintended game mechanic for an unfair advantage…what does that sound like again? OH! An exploit. If there wasn’t a culling issue these people porting through would be slaughtered, the only reason it works is because they can kill while completely invisible. This isn’t a case of stealth either because 1-2 seconds after using an ability in stealth you appear on the enemy screens. This is a case of an entire zerg being killed and only some names being visibile, it is a culling issue and those guilds are exploiting it.
I’d love to see mesmer portals be used for this purpose in the future when rendering is fixed/prioritized better. Currently though, it gives a huge advantage to those exploiting it and it needs to be stopped.
This has NOTHING to do with Mesmer portals, it is down to the game client rendering, which aNet have stated is the issue. There is nothing wrong with people using Mesmer portals for a tactical advantage, stop crying because you got outplayed.

I really hope Arenanet does something about your guild permanently exploiting the server issues.
And I’m not from Vizunah. I’m from Riverside and were are loosing just like your server everything to Vizunah at night. But at least they play fair and are not permanently exploiting. (there were several other exploits, like a player from you(far shiverpeaks, not [Nug]!) killing our orb altar at the bay from under the floor.)

Besides in this dispute, there is no point. If you are afraid to use the portal (after bans for karma vendors), thinking that it exploits exploits, this is your problem.

I’m playing Mesmer, I have that skill (Portal, I’ve mean) and I’m using it very often in the PVE and PVP. Whould they ban me coz only this? Lol, r u mad, bro?
Sometimes, my enemies do not rendered without any portals - just because they have too big number or something else. Let’s ban them too? Lol!

Hey all we have some plans to fix some of this. It is currently being looked at so expect a fix in the next few weeks. Basically we like that Portal has this power, but it shouldn’t be able to bypass walls, etc.
As for the problems with players not appearing this is a more difficult engine problem to solve. While we would like to solve it there are definitely counters to this strategy, because anyone doing it has just clumped up their entire team for AoE nuking. Ultimately if they outnumber you by a lot there are much more effective ways for them to kill you.
