WvW legendary backpiece and armor

how?

Add new achievements for backpiece and armor

such as : kill 1000 dolyaks(make it a new achievement), escort 1000 dolyaks, capture 500 camps, capture T3 towers(100 times), capture SMC 250 times, capture garrison 100 times

kill 500 players with cannons, kill 500 players with AC, destroy 500 seige, kill 50,000 players with weapons.

add skirmish rewards (weekly) where you get x amount of certain item depending on your rank (1st place,2nd place, 3rd place) where X item will be needed to craft armor and what not.

Add wvw backpiece and armor related reward track where you would need to repeat 5x and 25x respectively.

make it a lengthy grind

I agree that Anet should make a WvW backpiece. They made one for Pve (fractals) and PvP so it seems cruel to leave out WvW players. However legendary armour is a Raid exclusive reward. It hasn’t been made available via pvp so it shouldn’t be made available via wvw either.
edit: If of course Anet makes it available via pvp or wvw, then I agree it should be made available in the final game mode.

Yup… Anet should supply legendary options for the different play-styles in the game. And make them unique styles for that game type. So WVW’er leg set, PVE leg set, and TPVP leg set. All different designs to give some exclusivity to each game mode.

I agree we should have a WvW legendary armour. Please don’t confine the set to raids. Having a WvW legendary armour will greatly improve the reward track and incentivise players to join wvw without feeling like they have lost out on rewards.

It would be linked to some achievements, a reward track and probably wvw map completion. The lists of wvw achievements varies with how you play. Roamers tend to have more camp/dolyak kills than anyone else, Karma trainers have a lot of caps but few kills, and Zergs have high kills. A-net will not make legendary armor for wvw but a back slot item or something else.

As for the skirmish rewards their should be a small reward for playing and winning a skirmish. Something like come in 1st during that time get 3 wvw reward track potions. Only if you have max participation or if you gained 500-2000 reward track pts during the skirmish showing that your participated.

WvW could use a legendary armor set, instead of other types of legendaries, for a couple of reasons.

For one, backpacks are already in both fractals and PvP.There are also 2 generations of weapons as well, with one being exclusive to OWPvE, but the other being outright buyable in the TP. Pretty much, no type of legendary is exclusive to one mode, except for armor.

The other reason is because stat swap is most useful in WvW, while legendary armor is the only type of legendary with multiple pieces.

The only caveat would be that the armor would have to be different to the raid armor.

You guys really want to sit around waiting years for your armor to come out? I think It’s great that they are perfecting the armor but seriously.. it’s been close to a year since release and many will have the insights to make more than one weight set already.. and another few months before they are ready?!? pathetic…

Guess if you WvW players have stuck around this long you will for another year or so.. or will you?

While I see why people want legendary armor just by playing wvw, I don’t think playing wvw is “legendary” enough. There is no difficulty in running with the zerg and just being on a lot. Raids are very difficult, a lot more so than wvw and there is no way for arenanet to make wvw the same high difficulty for everyone.

And why do we need legendary armor? Everyone gets their ascended armor already. Legendary is just for showing off.
Furthermore legendary armor would give people a reason to bandwagon to a server where it is easier to farm it. So it is kind of ironic how people whine about the few bandwagoning we have right now while wanting to create reasons for it to become a big thing.

I would be for new unique skins in wvw though. Maybe something that has increasing chance to drop on high level rankups? At the moment a higher rank in wvw is a bad thing, because you get focused a lot and you cannot hide it. And the people in your zerg don’t see it. There is nothing to balance it out atm.

Raids are as difficult as your schedule and the adults that have to be babysat, they’re special because people say they are so that “first” posts in chat might mean something. Raid mechanics are normally a test in diminishing the stupid every attempt until everyone is simply at the same level of barely passable. Depending on how a legendary reward track could be scaled along with any achievements and check lists, the difficulty in a Legendary WvW collection could be comparable in time and grind work.

If they want to market raid exclusivity then at least open up that second tier of Triumphant armor and throw a backpiece skin on to it, I don’t really care about legendary though it would be nice to change stats on the go, it’s just not a big deal. Whatever we get in the future, just please don’t make all of it bulky and spiky or any of the other obvious high end MMO armor tropes.

Edit: If we ever get a special effects armor set, make the effects occur around actions that happen in WvW, like some cool effect after a chain kill, like a “you’re on fire” kind of thing.

If you have the task to kill 10’000 invaders or capture 1000 keeps, this would be
a) not equaly difficult depending on what server you are on
b) in a zerg not need any skill or contribution from yourself other than tagging and standing in a circle.
So while it may be comparable in time and grind work to get legendaries through wvw instead of raids, it would clearly not be comparable in needed skill and it wouldn’t be fair to many servers and lead to bandwagoning.

I love your idea about armorpieces (or weapons for that matter) that react with optical effects on kills/killstreaks. Would be a very cool thing for very very rare armors. That’s an idea that shouldn’t be buried in a topic like this one to be honest.
