I’m new to WvWvW, only been playing it truly a few weeks now as being primarily a PvE and dungeoner. My question is, is there a reason why the loot is so godawful in wvwvw? If there is can someone tell me? I mean even when i tried coming in with magic find up to my ears the loot barely gets better, even a green is like a rare blessing.

Just curious as to why compared to PVE loot is such a joke.

It’s bad because it’s not scaled properly. It’s like taking your lvl 80 and going to a lvl 10 zone. Half the time you get items appropriate for your level, half the time you don’t.

Wearing MF gear while in WvW really isn’t the way to go. If you want good drops that bad, go PvE. Unless of course you’re ikittenerg train.

No I get plenty of good drops in dungeons/fractals/ pve etc. Just noticed the drastic difference. I’m not craving loot, just wanted the reason for the difference.

If your currently not having a full bags problem, you need to be in a party, and running with a guild group that can cap points and get kills.

All the above aside, the loot has been poor vs PvE since live, and only Anet can give their reasoning behind such a decision.

Ahh yea I get it, and no i get lots of loot bags, just jesus, the actual items are laughable. What the hell will we do with spikes and white items? xD But yea i guess its been planned that way sadly. I feel bad for all the people who only wvw, they must get garbage all the time.

Meh we literally have to empty our bags out at least 2 to three times per night, if you are having difficulty getting loot find a better group. But yeah, I wouldn’t say the drop rate of exotics and rares is insanely high although I see getting in-game gold for playing PvP is a bonus. Although nobody can beat Renny’s 5 stacks of spikes.

No, again I am not having difficulty getting loot bags or anything. Quantity is not my concern, I was asking about quality. Loot quality is so low compared to pve to the point where getting a green for me feels like how often i get a rare in PvE.\

Fair enough, WTB Fractal drops in WvW. Nah it wouldn’t happen considering that fractals are instanced and are designed to have a certain amount of objectives in a linear path. WvW is more freeform than that so I guess that it would probably screw with the economy if there was a sudden influx of blues/greens + t6 drops from WvW.

You shouldn’t feel bad for anyone. That is the PvE mindset, people play WvW for the world vs. world aspect. The rewards and loots suppose to be improved with the new patch. On the same note, I can tell you there are wvw’ers that feel bad for all the people who only fight NPC’s all the time.

Several reasons.

1) loot is just god aweful.
2) Action, and kills, isnt guarenteed. Face it, you generally run around getting a lot less kills in WvW then you would in a PvE event or a dungeon.
3) Lootdrops are scaled based on the ENEMY you kill. If you kill a lv10 player, his lootbag will (most of the time) contain lv10 loot. And there are a ton of upleveld characters in WvW.
4) Events are spread out. The only events you qill frequently do dont award much coin, xp or karma. The really rewarding events, capping towers or keeps, are much harder and rarer because you have 1 (or even two) servers trying to prevent you from doing that.

On average i make about 2-3g for playing a day of WvW. Depends greatly on how much stuff we take and a lot of it is from gathering aswell.
By contrast, a fractals run or dungeon run nets me about the same income. And, for me as not an experienced pve player, that takes me between 30min and an hour.

This IS a serious issue. Because it will result in dedicated WvW players ending up screwed over badly. I know some think “ow the drama, so you dont get as much gold, whats the harm?”
Simple. As more gold enters the economy you get inflation. And the PvE players can afford the inflated gold prices for items/gear/runes/etc. But for a WvW player it ends up having to save up several days of gold to afford even a single rune

If you think its a joke now you should have seen it prior to the last patch. Its 100 times better than it was with the fix to the way loot is calculated in the last patch.

Its a common theme among dedicated players in WvW servers that we are trying to come up with ways to entice casual players to participate in WvW. Its hard when the rewards are terrible when compared to WvW. As a dedicated player, I find it actually costs me more to play WvW than I obtain. On an average day I could earn or lose coin, depending on the situation. If I am in a situation where I have to outright defend, then I lose money. If there is alot of flipping going on, I might make a very small amount or maybe break even. Which is terrible when in PvE you can pull 5g+ an hour. Upgrades to buildings cost so much. I don’t know if its intended, but if you are a dedicated WvW player you have to be able to farm PvE in order to contribute in every way possible in WvW.

I think this is a bit exaggerated.. In the past 2 days I’ve played WvW for about 6 hours total and made at least 9 gold (actual was more, but food costs take their toll). I am very happy with my 1.5 gold/hour profit as I am doing something that I enjoy. I’m not trying to earn gold and I’m getting quite a bit.

I think WvW is at a pretty good point loot wise. It can be rewarding, but it’s really only rewarding if you are willing to sacrifice for many hours as you pass over the large-scale pvp learning curve. In the beginning, I’ll admit, loot is flat out bad because you struggle to get kills, but after you find a group of players that supplements you well, it is not rare to get over a hundred kills per hour, which translates into quite a bit of loot. I know my guild has adapted to dropping merchants after we take any major objective or make several major defenses. During the span of just one hour yesterday, my inventory was filled up 3 whole times that I needed to find a vendor to empty it. That said, WvW shouldn’t be played as a means of making money – it should be played as WvW.
