So it has come to our attention that some other servers feel we “Yaks” bring out the worst in them.

We see 30 page threads when ever we are involved. As I feel that being a member of the evil empire I should not care, I do.

With that being said what is your favorite moments against us at good old yaks-bend. The supply traps? The relentless defense? The arrow carts, defended by arrow carts, and other arrow carts?

Haha! I know what majority of our rivals would choose :P
But you forgot to add one more: Golem rushes xD xD (Remember CD players once said to ban YB because of golems LOL)

But no, we tend to bring out the best in others and whatever we do it well within the rules. Even when we are outnumbered, we give our best with whatever number we’ve got.

I forgot the whole thread dedicated to the ban of yaks-bend due to our unfair use of golem strikes.

The words ‘worst’ and ‘Yaks’ are often used in conjunction.

First reset of Season 2 we faced Yak’s Bend and Sanctum of Rall. I generally lead havoc groups, but my guild convinced me to put a tag on that night, and as it turned out we were the only group running on YB BL that night from BP (transfers hurt us real bad, but that’s a different story). We had never played on YB BL at reset night before, so I’m not sure if you guys throw supply traps everywhere like you did that night, but it was initially the most aggravating strategy I’ve ever encountered. It didn’t stop us from taking your bay several times and farming SoR and YB alike for an hour in your hills (I blame SoR for that though, you guys were holding them off in lord’s room with 2/3 their numbers, and we had only a fraction of your numbers. We liked the bags we were getting and I hope you guys like it too!).

Point is, your supply traps at every turn strategy forced us off the roads and get creative with how we moved across the map. It was really interesting, especially once random players started following me since they were queued for other maps that their guilds were on. You made that reset night a bit stressful/challenging and much more fun than reset nights tend to be. Thanks for that YB!

I felt the same way last night when I ran over someone else’s supply trap.

Kinda odd to post a thread asking people to talk up your server. That said, I’ll play along.

Sometimes, I find myself wishing YB roamers would come out of their towers more often, but, in all honesty, YB doesn’t tower hump more than most other servers. Your reputation as “arrow cart bend” is a bit unwarranted, and I do admire your defensive priorities. I’ve seen your EB zerg map hop to your BL immediately after a scout spotted our zerg, and that’s more than can be said for a lot of other servers.

Supply traps are kittening annoying though.

The terrible roamers that you have.

I would like to thank each and every one of them for the endless supply of loot.

My favorite part of fighting YB was when you all would crumble or run as soon as your numbers were matched.

End of Story. BP here, you outnumbered us big time, but boy do your roamers rock!! Chill out at the temple ruin and just start looting! Yaks bend after Yaks Bend after Yaks bend omgsh delicious lootbags everywhere.

I have always enjoyed fighting YB both on BP and HoD. YB defends which is a refreshing change of pace. YB is also very well rounded. Your roamers are solid, some good skirmish teams, decent guild groups and of course like all mid-tier and higher servers the occasional zerg.

Despite what some have said, I have always found YB fighters to be respectful as well. I really don’t see the downside unless a player dislikes having to fight to take a YB occupied objective.

This thread invites comments by griefers and people who can’t cope with having lost to YB once in a while. I doubt it will last long.

Rena, what is this supply trap defense everyone is speaking of?

We just send Azawrath ahead of us, he doesn’t need supply for his assassination missions. Who knows how many he trips off in his blood hunt? Might want to try stealth traps instead.

I will say this though about Yaks – I wasn’t very impressed with the skill level thus far of what I have seen.

FA on the other hand has given me a bunch of good fights.

Could be the people I ran into from YB or just the server as a whole is kinda meh.

To be honest YB is split into a 30/70% maybe 40/60% split the smaller being the persistent WVWers and the others more PVX players and achievement hunters. The normal wvwers tend to be more tactically minded and can be highly effective with smaller numbers while the PVX players tend to be good but can be more meh. The latter and larger player base also tends to be fair weather to varying degrees that’s what your likely seeing. However, when there’s loot or achievement on the line we all tend to come out hence the sudden boost in wvw players atm. As for FA well they tend to be a much heavier WVW based server so take that as you will.

I would have to agree with Dragonrage… Yak’s Bend is a PvX server. Not a WvW server. But on the upside… Yak’s Bend has a VERY strong and dedicated WvW group that has proven time after time to be able to destroy a 60-man zerg with only a 20-man zerg.

Never played against Yak’s Bend but I enjoyed reading the SBI/Yak/Ebay thread. Quite frankly it was better than the ZDs drama during Season 1. And when EBay came in second, oh the forum tears lol

Honestly. as far as “scummy moves” go, I’d consider bandwagoning and stacking a server for easy wins to be far worse than collusion to bring a bandwagon down. But, as a YB player since beta, of course I’d say that.

How easily they are killed

Will take Yaks over FC any day of the week yaks do fight once in a while FC just run in to a tower and build as much ac as they can even when they outnumber you.

Thats a long topic and its all past now so it doesn’t really matter anymore. It wasn’t just a 2v1, was way more than that. Note that YB was not the only ones playing dirty in that match, but were the dirtiest during it

It wasn’t dirty, it was smart tactics and the only chance at beating the then bandwagon population of SBI.

I’ve been rather envious of your BL defense… I have cookies and ice cream to exchange for your secret knowledge of getting people to stay and defend.

Why I love being a yak ::

Only on yaks-bend does the WvW team create back stories for the various commanders.

Example : DK, who is in witness protection, that is why he used a voice changer

I can’t find it either.

Instead I decided to ask hundreds of people across every server imaginable, and then I asked people outside on the streets the same question “Does Yak’s Bend suck?”

Here are my results. Oddly enough I had a few individuals give me unexpected alternatives to my inquiry. I haven’t a clue what they were thinking, but for the sake of consistency I took only the 100 answers that matched the creteria.
