You know you're a scout when ...
I don’t scout for the most part, but I’d like to thank you all because without you, we’d get stuff like “omfg they’re in lords room of garrison come quick!!!1111 you guys suck its gone” all day.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
The frustration of the broken Presence of the Keep that you can’t hold 25 supply to fix walls
You spend more time with yaks than with players. Mooooo.

when you say where enemy group is, call for help (tower-keep) and no ones come
a Fissure Of Woe player that has no home.
When you have stop playing after HoT and DBL because this upgrade destroy a big part of the scout job ?
BL scouting is alive in some DBL, the issue is the numbers VS larger servers, air keep has to many stuff to breach to be covered by small servers also.
Still map has alot of scouting to be done, just learn th enemy prefered path, this is… if theres enemies invading your DBL… lol.
Edit: You know you’re a scout when … almost 1k rank over this 4years.
You know what Giant Pearls are and you still carry a stack.

You kill yellow mobs with balistas and ranger lb as they continue to regen until they finally die to sheer will.
.. you are in a empty wvw-ts channel but still call out the 5 man enemy blob that just arrived in front of your tower because you haven’t noticed
.. when you cannot stop yourself from saying “thank you” to the zerg that just saved “your” keep after the call
.. when you fully siege up paper towers with superior siege even though the passing commander told you to “let it go” because it is paper
.. when you are reliefed to find out that the opponent only hit one wall instead of two, because last time you had to fix them both alone and it took you 15 minutes
.. when you are respecting enemy scouts instead of just being annoyed to see them in keeps and towers in the bls you arrive at
.. when you stop expecting people to show up when you call out crucial enemy activity, but are still grateful if they do
.. when you are the one guy that defends alone even against 20 guys until it is flipped rather than jumping out when the door or wall goes down (and then continue by telling the commander where the zerg is heading to next).
.. when you increase the volume on your computer to be able to hear any activity while you are cooking, working or doing something else afk
The enemy blob knows your solo guild tag.
Story of my life, this one. I’ve had so many people see me when I’m in EOTM going it’s you!
You know you’re a scout when you’re +1’ing so many fights you start to feel bad.
You know you’re a scout when you check live maps at millenium.org when you’re not online.
You know you’re a scout when you’re up to date with the server politics of servers you’re not even fighting.
You know you’re a scout when fight guilds are whispering you to get your help on locations.
You know you’re a scout when you have a mental clock on the decay timers for all the siege you built.
Champion: Phantom, Hunter, Legionnaire, Genius

We had a guy on Piken nice enough to build us a siege decay timer app. God love Rosh. No, you can’t steal him.

Actually these make great Inventory Slot Holders to reserve space when managing your Inventory space.
Plus, ANet did say that the Quaggan event might return one day.

You know what Empyreal Fragments are & you carry several stacks of Empyreal Stars because they take up less inventory space.
You get a lot of these Fragments when capping camps…in case you’re wondering.

only yak will get this one. you know your a scout when your on longer then dk?
… You burn several disablers and almost whole supply depot, broadcast every 25% of outer and inner wall, and finally after X minutes die at lord’s side against 4 attackers; then you waypoint to citadel, see 5+ people AFKing or running around services/merchants and log off disgusted about humanity.
And of course, while you are defending and calling for help, you see at least one “Your realm just captured papercamp XY” message.
… when you purposely do not tick poorly placed siege or normal siege so it will despawn and replace it with superiors
… when you spend more time farming random enemies or pve critters with cannons and balli’s. cause scouts need t6 mats too
When you try to kick someone off a treb to refresh it.
when you deploy your kite or tonic to reduce the chances of a zerg targeting you
… when you purposely do not tick poorly placed siege or normal siege so it will despawn and replace it with superiors
No that’s being a snob, lol.
Superior is preferred, but never discourage anyone from building. There are too few of us. Big deal, regular siege. Build a superior beside it and refresh both.
Take the time to teach if you can do it gently and patiently.
Which brings me to:
A good scout is endlessly patient and willing to teach anyone who’s interested.

Then a friendly blob comes, gets credit for killing the enemies and you don’t.
… when you feel morally obligated to scout longer than you should because if you leave, the map is probably going to fall to the enemy.
… when your WvW rank is vastly inferior to everyone else’s because you rarely do stuff that give WXP.
… when you get distracted while moving from keep to keep by dying your armour but you fall off a cliff and you’re the one to dye (bad pun)
… when you play Ranger almost exclusively for scouting and roaming purposes, but the minute you decide you want to join a squad, you get kicked and asked to reroll. smh

Spot on with that!
Also you know when you are a scout when you do NOT miss siegerazer at all.

You have all your server’s commanders and your partner servers’ commanders on your friend list for when you need to send out the SOS. (And they respond!)
You’re ecstatic to find a real-time stream of the enemy zerg movement on twitch which leaves you free to scout the third server’s movements

You watch for sentry movement on the map & then run to the nearest camp to stop it from being capped or to report on enemy troop numbers.

You after 3 years still care about a completely pointless scoring system.
You feel in the right to commandeer public teamspeak channels because the commander does not come to save “your” tower.
You have used the phrase “true way of playing WvW” and were actually serious.
You feel entitled to special privileges within your community and that the server owes you something for your sacrifices nobody asked you to make.

Not a scout/guard, but I find it more hilarious when zerglings complain about no call-out in map/ts when anyone on ts/ map chat could see the call 5 min before a keep or tower flips.
TY scouts. You are crazy, but most of the ppl appreciate what you do.

Well, I guess sometimes people do throw down whatever siege when they’re in a hurry though there’s generally very little reason to build regular arrow carts. I suppose if the target is full of supply, building a crappy ballista or something as bait (so they don’t instantly torch all your expensive stuff) isn’t a bad idea though not everyone agrees!
Although I suppose if a structure isn’t likely to be defended well, cheaper siege does make sense. Also the whole superior siege snobbery sometimes rears its ugly head when people toss catapults or something and suddenly realize we don’t even have the supply to build it.
The main argument against regular siege is that it contributes to the siege cap, but outside of deliberate trolling, I can’t say it’s actually been an issue— lack of siege is usually the bigger one.

Projection much? I mean I despise the PPT’arding individuals you describe because I know a few like that and they’re in my block list, but hold back on the salt— because not everyone is like that and probaly not in this thread especially. It’s bad for your health.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
