..by just tossing tournaments around. Same with PvP.

I don’t understand the delay.
I don’t understand the wait.
And I certainly don’t understand the complete lack of word on ANY direction these game modes are going.

There have been a billion suggestions and CDI’s.

I’d like to start seeing some results.

Because labeling something as “Tournament” or “Season” fools people into believing something is at stake and even worse, that its an actual competition. And what’s the unique prize? Skins that I don’t even see people using lol. Is it worth the the decimated population left in its wake? Nuup!

Don’t forget the “Amazing” one time only use dolyak statue at citadel and limited use dolyak finishers!

Tournaments/Seasons w/e they wanna call it are the worst thing to happen to wvw, every time its like playing russian roulette, and seeing which server is gonna die.

every season I’ve noticed the general wvw population shrinks. s2 burnt out probably the most players out of the three tournaments.

Season 2 was the probably the worst yea, at least for me, I was on SoR for all 3 seasons, and we had an exodus of many of our wvw guilds after the first one and the 2nd season started right at the worst possible time because we had no chance to stabilize and rebuild and we got thrown into silver league where we could not possibly compete with anyone there and ended up losing every week. It was just so demoralizing and heartbreaking.

Everyone I know enjoys the seasons. As well, I see the population in WvW on my server, and those I compete against increase.

Care to actually explain how it is harmful? As of now, I am seeing little more then unreasonable, anecdotal claims, with no actual evidence to the claims themselves.

Hard to give more than anecdotal evidence with no numbers available to us. Personally I do feel like I see significant transfers happen at the beginning and end of each tournament season. And it seems like that throws off whatever balance there might be in the ranking of the servers at that time. But that’s only my observation, with nothing to compare it to.

Again…and you’ve been asked this before…what server are you on? A large population one, I would assume. Players on small pop servers are NOT generally having much in the way of fun when they habitually get steamrolled by servers double their size.

Seasons are kind of trivial for me, as I would be in WvW anyways doing what I always do. The main thing it has the ability to do is attract people to try the game mode atleast, but if it’s anything like the last season then they’re there for 5 minutes then leave every week, or if it’s like the first tournament you have inflated queues and lots of random rage at people who seem confused and keep losing you fights.

also with anet messing with the achievements for season 3, new players wouldn’t have to bother with regular wvw. They would’ve done the achievements in etom. Usually i volunteer myself to train the newbies. But that didn’t really happen for season 3…

What do you define as small population servers? Several months ago, me, my guild, and some friends transfered from the JQ in kitten a T3 server. You would have gotten an answer sooner had you simply PMed me, instead of assuming I owed you anything, and demand I answer you on a public thread.

When you make an assertion, you need to back it up. People need context. You don’t owe me, personally, anything at all. But you will note that most people that are saying they are seeing fewer people in WvW usually mention their server. It provides that context I mentioned. So when someone comes on and says “Everything is awesome”, then it would be nice to know if this is server-specific awesomeness or perhaps Tier-awesomeness.

In any event, you must be lucky, because the majority of people that seem to be on this forum claim to be seeing a decrease in the numbers of people in WvW on their servers. Myself included. So, kudos to you and your friends. Would love to see that kind of commitment on my server (NSP).

Oddly, you complained about “…unreasonable, anecdotal claims, with no actual evidence to the claims themselves”, but, like all of us on here, all these claims, yours included, are “anecdotal” with no “actual evidence”. How could it not be? It’s not like someone logs onto WvW and does roll call.

I am sure Anet could provide us with stats on the number of unique players on WvW monthly per server (including time spent in WvW, etc). But until then, everything has to be “anecdotal”.

The servers seem to shift back and forth a lot with populations.

For me, it’s just getting old. Same old maps. Same old nonsense. If you don’t have the coverage or population, the matches are never competitive. Boring loot. On lower servers it seems to becoming more like EotM – no one defends and just rotates taking things, since you can take a keep in about 30 seconds.

Assertion? I simply suggested that those in my circles appear to enjoy tournaments and fell they are very positive, s i understand it. I do not claim to speak for them, I am simply stating the general feel I get from the general 200 players in my guild, and my friends.

I hardly take that seriously. They come here for the sole purpose of complaining if you ask me. The misrepresent by trying to claim to speak directly for others, and overextend their ire with hyperbole. As it was said before that only 7% of the accounts created in GW2 have ever posted on the forums, I hardly feel the same 100 complainers here represent much of the community.

I simply expressed my opinion of my experiences as well as the tone I feel expressed by my guild, and friends. Others who I claim anecdotal are simply those who claim to speak for everyone, their entire server, their entire tier, and so on. My issue is those who intentionally mislead or misrepresent.

I have a very good time, every night I play, when I log in after my kids/grand kids go to bed. Such as last night when my guild all logged in on thieves for 2 hours, then we switched to all rangers. Tonight we will have fun with a full engineer play for 2 hours then swap to ele. It is fun stuff when you have 100+ running all of one profession, or all on necromancers leaving marks and wells all over the ground. 150+ engineers who all run builds designed around bombs alone. 100+ mesmers with clones…………..Ahh the fun.

That is nice and all, but that doesn’t mean some of us cannot disagree with poster who chide tournaments and speak of them as if they are bad, when myself, and perhaps others, fully enjoy them and their effects.

can we get proof that everyone you know enjoys the season? can we get some actual evidence to your claims that your server and those you play against are increasing?

Ignore him. From what I can tell he disagrees just to disagree on most anything.

I hardly call someone disagreeable, when they claim to be having fun and speak out against the trolls, who do nothing but make misrepresenting claims, speak as if the entire game mode that has 8 servers of queued maps is hated by all, and so on and so forth.

I mean I literally count 8 different posters who are complaining here. Do you 8 posters really think you represent even a minute amount of the player base? You sure seem to post with a tone that suggest you do.

So the argument here, bloodletting wolf, as I see it, is you have no intelligent argument to post, so you take the route of attacking anyone who is not making an effort to be as negative as you? Shame on him for having fun in a video game right?
