its got nothing to do with the ammount of MSG’s its if you say the same text like if you say Follow 4 times within 10min you get muted for 30 seconds

I use AutoHotKey when I command to macro things like “Group up on my icon”. When you’re commanding and trying to focus on 20 different things at once you don’t have time to waste extra seconds on typing. I could be spending that time looking at the map.

Unfortunately this is frowned upon by ANet.
Why not set up the macros, with a variable ? I mean you ought to be able to get it to randomize a message that means the same thing! Get ahead, codingmonkey!

That’s the real reason for Commanders Icon and not as a lot of people seem to think that it is the lord and master of the map.
remember ArenaNet stated that WvWvW was capable of holding up to 2000 players thats 500 per map at 166 per side aprox.
If used correctly each squad could be placed in allotted areas rather than mindless zergs.
But I quite agree with you Muting on WvWvW is not needed as there have been times when I myself have needed to call for backup yet couldn’t do so because of the mute, result I get trolled for the loss of the area.

Pre launch this is how I imagined wvw would be (the way you’re describing it) – i figured certain guilds/commanders would be designated/volunteer to hold certain territories on a map. That’s what I thought he whole point of guild claiming was for, and /squad chat, and commander icons in the first place.
Seems like anet set up the bones for things to be a lot more organized, rich, and strategic than it actuslly is at times.
To me it’d be more fun that way – to divide up into squads per map and have keeps/towers assigned to the leadership of certain commanders or guilds. Now that I think about it, perhaps that’s why they’re making changes to promote smaller skirmishes in wvw (e.g., correcting aoe heals to the 5-player cap) than huge armies.

lol you must not WvW much there is nowhere even close to 166 players on 1 team
50-60 players is most ive seen on the 1 team
Squad chat is next to worthless btw because WvW W=World not Guild vs Guild everyone needs to work togeather having only 1 Commander icon show up will make it harder to explain where you need to be or whats happening

not sure how it works but even if you start getting muted for saying “Follow” then say “Follow me” you will get muted again
just simple stuff like “[Cliffside Tower] is under attack” saying that once every few min will end up getting you muted
Chat suppression often interferes with my ability to command efficiently, so I’m hoping some changes are made here.
Most of the time it occurs when I need to say “Portal on me” in say/team chat repeatedly so that people will see it. And then I’m suddenly restricted from saying ANYTHING for 30 seconds. Drives me nuts.
That said, some people should have their mouths sewn shut. So there needs to be a compromise somewhere.

Disagree the Commander tag isn’t earned anyone that farms well can get it. I’ve seen a lot of instances where Commanders would abuse that. Now if it was only unlimited in WvW then fine but as I said I’ve seen commanders spam too much already in PvE areas I’d hate to see them be able to do it without limits.
Now if ANET made the Commander tag earned instead of bought then I would agree but until that time as annoying as it can be I’m glad the system is the way it is.
