Explain or show video link to your most funniest experience as a solo or small group roamer. I’ll start by stating mine that just took place a few minutes ago. While I was solo roaming i noticed a member from my server downed but not out near a high cliff. Close to him are 3 thieves doing /laugh emote without finishing him. I go in without fear to try to save this guy from their left side. My ele is a burst non-glassy s/f wep type so i figured if I can get at least one of the thief downed and killed by my devastating fiery greatsword combo then there will be 2v2 and a sure win for us. Needless to say my fiere greatsword skill 4 + lightning flash fails to execute to a single spot due to an unexpected lag. Instead it does the fire trail hitting all 3 thieves that were on a straight line. My guess is none of them saw me coming and when they got hit hard out of nowhere they used withdraw healing skill… making them roll back and fall off the high cliff. All 3 thieves died in an instant and my buddy rallied lol. I wish i had recorded it.

In a fantastic fight that could have gone either way, I killed a player during a roaming fight in our BL (this was over a year ago). For the entire week whenever I would see that player or a member of their guild, they would immediately transform into a dolyak and follow me around. They wouldn’t attack no matter what I was doing and I just let them be. If someone else attacked them they stayed in their form. At one point they had four dolyaks following me around. That cracked me up all week and still brings a smile to my face.

Oh second one that happened this weekend… My small group of friends and I were being chased by a big zerg but we had a comfortable lead. I kept trying to string out a few players so we could pounce on them all the while my friends telling me to run. Anyway this guardian starts hitting me and my friends ask if I am OK. I respond with oh yeah I can get away easy… nobody can catch me… I then sprint away on my warrior. Next thing I know a leopard form grabs me and slows me down halfway between Speldon and Mendons long enough for the zerg to run me over. All I heard on Mumble was the cackling of my friends when I told them a cheetah ran me down.

Oh I have had so many…

The latest one however was deep inside an enemy border (at north camp), all alone on my PU Mesmer. I met 3 players along the road – same guild, all running together. Normally, there’s only one outcome to that – certain death. But I had gone too far to back out now, so I engaged them. kittened as I am, I went for a guardian first. But in a stroke of luck, he was downleveled. He did nothing to me. But then I remembered the other guys… And tabbed through them. All are downlevels.

Needless to say, certain death turned into a lion playing with 3 mice.

They couldnt hurt me. I got the guardian down 3-4 times and they ressed him, until the last time they tried to res him. All 3 was downed in the same spot, lol. I ran away laughing from that encounter.

Poor buggers. They didnt stand a chance.

One time an uplevel tried to 1v1 me (brave little guy), so I just stood there and let him hit me to try to show him that he was doing no damage. He was running around in circles, and accidentally hit a boar, then another one. He died to the boars.

dunno if it’s the funniest but it’s a recent one:
I had just killed a necro and a mesmer following a long fight, just as Im stomping the mesmer at the bottom of enemy’s watergate stairs, another mesmer comes in.
Silver assaulter, legendary sword.. moa’s me. I wasn’t in trouble, so I pressed #4 on moa then jumped on him with #2 and the guy starts running away up the stairs into garrison. I killed him later when he got out, but was hilarious to watch some guy run away from a moa.

When I use to be a serious business perma stealth scout, my favorite manuver after observing blobs capping the NW borderland tower was to wait just to the north of the tower where the zig-zag starts, bait the blob towards me, and take a leap off the high point of the zig-zag to see who had a fall trait and who didn’t. I can’t tell you how many players I’ve got to make that dive.

With the old d/p perma-stealth, you could sit back at the end of the ramp too waiting for the people to get ressed, and then harass them again as they stood there saying “ty” like they did’t just die chasing a single player off a cliff.

Why people loath thieves 101.

I had spent a few hours running around the south end of an enemy borderlands killing people and kept running into an engineer alone. We fought each other on and off for a while and a few minutes in, a group of 5 people from the third server show up. Somehow the engineer and I decided that we wouldn’t just sacrifice the slower of the two of us, and we fought together and managed to beat the group of 5. We joined party and roamed around the borderland together, trading off camps and killing the (likely very confused) third server invaders.

Lol, solo roaming stories are the best.

I’ve had many great ones but I’ll just give a semi-recent one since it’s still fresh in my mind.
Golanta had been flipped and I had decided to take our camp back. Clearing the NPC’s and carrying on with my business I was suddenly turned to stone by Basilisk Venom and a sneaky Thief. Fortunately I’m a Necromancer and I survived the initial burst, retreated and turned my camera around to see that he also had 4 friends with him. Making my way to Jerrifer’s, I went inside, up the stairs and peered over the walls to see what the Thief and his cronies were up to. One of them was emoting at me, the others were rezzing the Quarter master and Supervisor. I pondered on the situation for a few minutes before deciding I would play chicken and lure them in to a trap. So I hopped off the wall, inched forwards until the Thief and an Ele came after me, turned, ran back for the tower and one of the NPC guards nailed the Ele with an immob. I stacked a bunch of conditions, used Corrupt Boon to get rid of their defenses and that was pretty much the end of that. Continuing this until it was down to just me and the brave Warrior that had been /laugh emoting at me earlier, I walked towards the camp with all the NPC’s as well as the Warrior. Being the sort of fellow he was he kept jumping with all the NPC’s next to him taunting me to come closer. But I wasn’t going to fall for the trick I had just used to kill his 4 buddies. So I activated my kite, jumped around a bunch and took off through the marsh between the hill at Jerrifer’s and the Lowlands keep. Like a good puppy he followed me and I ambushed him around the corner, melted him pretty fast and /sleep emote’d next to him ( :

Just to make things so much better, he grouped me and told me I was a p**sy for running. Lol. My response, “My kite means I’m srs.”

All around and on south ruins island before patch.

A buddy and I pretty much face planted into a group of 5 randoms, and got two of them downed and stealth stomped.

With 3 left, we split off trying to loose as many as possible. Ran out towards south camp with a war and ranger on me, looped around one side. The thief chased my friend, who was playing condi thief, and just as I rolled around, almost dead, he stomps the thief, and pulls the ranger off me. Rinse repeat, kill warrior.

Later on the ranger joined our party to actually be really cool and ask us if we were hacking or not, we told him it was a little coordination and a little luck that helped us win. We all shrugged it off and went on our way.

Not me personally, but my guild visted the ArenaNet office while roaming in EoTM..

I don’t normally attack other players because my main is a ranger equipped with random stuff that I get from loot, so I usually avoid enemy players like the plague.

But there was one time in Eternal Battleground when I was trying to flip the ogre camp by myself, and I stumbled across another player whom fired the first shot. Now in combat mode, I was unable to run away, so I figured that I might as well fight, even though I was fully expecting to lose.

After downing my pets, the enemy player then turned his attention to my character. We ended up downing each other simultaneously, so it became a battle of the downed. A battle which I won by a very small margin

I was building up stacks in speldan which had RI and dredge. I was about half health with a few skills on CD when a thief and an ele from the opposite server got the jump on me. I held them for a bit but I eventually downed. They had agro’d the super and some of the dredge. I held off the stomp, the thief died to an NPC and I rallied and finished off the other. I couldn’t help but /laugh at them before capping the camp for myself.

Been a while ago, but so funny i remember it as if it was yesterday.

Ive just capped Lowlands camp and saw 3 thieves running into me, the moment they went stealth i dodged 2 times in front of supervisor, just to see 3 downed bodies in front of it ( this was before they nerfed the supervisors damage ). Got to love being a ranger and watch greedy thieves die like that.

Will go with the token suicide off cliff whilst trying to run away from a 1v1.

I was capping a sentry in Eternal Battlegrounds when I saw a warrior and guardian running towards me, so I quickly smoked bombed + rocket booted toward Stonemist, which was ours at the time. As expected, they followed me. I decided to engage them near the gate and the guards to even it out a little. The fight went on for a while (the warrior was glass cannon A/Sh + GS and the guard was running healway I believe), and when I was low on health and out of cooldowns I attempted to retreat back into Stonemist, only to find that it had since been capped by another server. I died valiantly.

When I used to play warrior I was scouting at the cliffs of ANZ area looking at Overlook..

A three man thief squad came and ganked me, I used my stomp skill, 2 instantly went off the edge and died so I thought I could kill the last one, I use my gs4 rush at the thief but instead went past him and off the cliff myself… I’m not sure what the last thief did but as I landed on the ground and died, that last thief landed ontop of me dying himself leaving all 4 of us dead at the bottom of the cliffs… Instantly one of the thieves popped a guild flagged and myself and another popped one aswell…

Also meeting enemy quaggan zergs that let me join them is always fun

My favourite moment was when I was capping the ne camp and a blob comes along, many of them start trying to gank me, so I go stealth and run through them because I decided to not bother with the camp, just as they were about to steal the camp from me, an even bigger blob (from the third server) comes along and steam rolls them since half of the original blob were running around trying to kill me. The original blob (what was left of it) starts running away with the second blob chasing them, I just walk into the circle and start capping the camp for myself as I watch the would be gankers get steam rolled while I spam /laugh at them.

I was out one day on my then upleveled warrior trying to get to some POIs and Vistas on my home BL when a random mesmer came along and ganked me. We were outmanned so I didn’t care too much, but after the 3rd time of this mes stalking my uplevel i swapped out to my condi thief and went hunting. After killing the mes twice on my BL, I realized they left and went to their BL to see if they were there. Sure enough they were and I got in my third revenge kill before going back to doing my POIs.

All bls were dead. I was roaming around looking for someone to fight. I see a mesmer and engage. She has bitfrost AND bolt. Lol not even going to try. I gtfo.

Last night I got rolled by about 8-10 enemies after they got the wall down at NE tower. But they didn’t seem very well organised, so I immediately ran back from citadel to see if I could make it back inside before they flipped it, and got back in just in time. I laid a portal and dropped down the cliff a bit, they ALL came down after me, I portalled back inside and just left them down there. They never came back, free tower for me. \o/

Well there are so many stories but one come into my mind. There was a bug with chaos storm for about few hrs after a patch a while ago. Me and my friend happen to be playing before the bug was fixed. A zerg of about 20 players was roaming. I had my friend standing on the roof at the camp by bay. I would lure the zerg over and he jumped on them and killed 5 in a instant we did this for about 20 mins over and over. It was pretty funny.
The other story is the 1 long 1 v 1 v1 fight I had a long time ago. I get in 3 way fights often but very rarely when all 3 of us are decent players. That was one time where all 3 of us were roamers. The battle lasted a long time and we downed each other a lot . In the end 2 of us were down at the same time, I used my down skill to kill the other downed guy , rallied off him. The third guy was very low on health and all out of cool downs so I finished him of rather quickly. Basically I won because the game design was kitten .

My funniest experience was a fight i had 2 days ago with a mes and a warrior playing as my thief. I had the help of 15-20 coyotes and watched my enemies get eaten alive!

That one time Obs tried to kill me and the mister, it didn’t go too well for him.
Apparently I’m a threat.

Once I ran into a thief while roaming, we got into a fight which I was going to win pretty easily so she just stealthed and tried to run away. Problem was she was using the mini pet Chauncy von Snuffles which didn’t get stealthed so I could just follow her wherever she went. I was felt kind of bad for her, so rather than killing her I just partied her to let her know her error.

Back in the days before the bunker guardian build was invented I ran into a guy who was obviously scouting camps and ganking yaks. We did the dance a couple of times with no real conclusion because we often just got run over by one side or the other, but it was pretty obvious that we were both looking for each other.

I snuck up on him at the Stargrove camp because he had this habit of standing near the cliff away from the road, waiting for a yak to spawn. I got him with 2 phantasms and 2 rounds of clone shatters, Moa’d him, and GS5 blasted him off the cliff.

Bag appears at my feet and I’m absolutely certain he was doing that f7u13 thing._

Just last week we came across an uplevel warrior killing a moa outside of red keep in EBG. The moa seemed to have the upper hand but I got my mesmer friend to moa morph the warrior anyway so we could watch a moa v moa duel. The moa almost won too! If he had just timed his daze half a second earlier it would’ve interrupted the warrior’s heal and he had barely a sliver of health left.

There are so many funny and unique experiences posted here. Keep them coming., I’m reading each one.. They inspire to solo/small group roam more for the immense fun it is obtained through WvW.

i left one of our server border’s camp alone even if it belonged to the enemy because there were….3 quaggans running around guarding it. :-o seriously. lol.

When a whole dz zerg chased my poor ele

Before I got serious with WvW, during my Ranger days, I was mooching around on home BL, scouting in NW Tower. Decided to get some supplies so moved onto the Z bend leading down to NW camp. On the path after the first bend I see 5 man group of red looking down the cliff to the camp. I stop to see what they will do when 1 spots me. There’s a short interlude then one of the Reds peels off in my direction. Me thinks: “Cool .. they’re being very fair sending just 1 to solo duel me!” and I get ready to engage.

He runs up to me and drops his exit portal .. and his mates bomb me .. that’s when I notice he’s a mesmer. GG! xD

Happened just then…

4 of us took a golem to Kaining Keep at overlook, busted down the doors and let them cap it back off AR… We then decided to troll kain, running circles in the keep, getting a few kills making sure we stomp in quaggan form then running away again… once they realised the last of us were at the cliff they all came around the corner charging like maniacs…

So we saluted, transformed into quaggans and had a quaggan suicide…. bout 6 Kain followed us to their deaths

There are so many that it’s hard to remember. One occurrence I remember, as it happens often. So I was trying to cap Speldan, with a couple guildies, and had the cap circle up, when of course a large blob of whichever server we were facing at that time turns up, iirc it was Drakkar, ages ago. My friends who were not as accustomed to roaming and running from zergs, were cut down very fast as they try to run, whereas I get most of the way towards the hill to the north and go round it, with about 20 following me. I manage to go around the hill thrice and they’re not giving up, and I decide to make a dash before they catch on – so I head for the water, once I reach it a few of them stop chasing, others renew their efforts, like warriors with their spear skills. Luckily I have JI slotted underwater as well as Save Yourselves and retreat for perma-swiftness. So I’m running up Anza hill, with 15 still behind me, the fastest of which are almost within range. I use my leap to Overlook outer (not)wall thing, land safely and as I turn around I get exp numbers as the majority of them jump off after me. The remaining ones disperse as on /laughs at me repeatedly. I jump down, collect me loot and continue. This jump saves me on a regular basis, and kills others who are mindless just as frequently. This one was only more spectacular due to the numbers that tried it and the length of their chase
My guildies are also surprised that I’m alive after 10 minutes.

Which reminds me of another event, not funny, I suppose. We were against Deso and I’m roaming around SM, near Anza once again. A Knight d/d Ele does the generic rtl and updraft on me, or tries to when I evade. After a few seconds of fighting he gets down by a quarter health and runs in the other direction, so I turn around and move off, thinking to be on my way, and he jumps into me again, nipping at my heels, he deals pretty much no damage worth me caring about or having to try to counter, but I turn around and attack him again. 3 or so seconds later he runs out again to about 1,200, healing and comes back, this carries on for about 5 minutes before I get bored, it’s more like on and off fighting than kiting. So I move off again, him spamming his lightning whip on me as I go, and he stops and /laughs with me, spamming it a lot and jumping. I get a party invite, and the chap starts calling me a coward and playing a complete ez-mode class etc. etc., all the solo roamers are guardians and no one plays Ele because it’s the worst class in the game, if I was skilled I’d play Ele. I bother arguing with him for a bit, saying rangers would disagree with him, but he’s having none of it, says that I play Guard cos I’m unskilled and that we both know it, leaves the party and continues to /spam laugh. At this point a Thief and a ranger come, both from Deso. Following general fighting convention I focus down the ranger, whilst dodging and throwing enough DPS at the thief to deter him, the ele’s joined in, I kill the ranger and having managed to catch the Thief with low enough health after a bit, I have to down him twice before I actually get him. At this point the Ele runs away completely. Just one of those things that makes you shake your head afterwards xD

Some of the best times I’ve had solo are in EoTM with my handy-dandy Magnet, Toss Elixir S, and the ability to reliably stalk friends from other servers.

Once a very long time ago I was playing on my guardian as green team. I was in EB near red spawn and I was getting chased by about 10 from the blue team. Being the genius I am I saw both shelter and renewed focus were up so I decided to visit the legendary defenders and got close enough then combos both skills so I wouldn’t get hit. Somehow about 7 of the 10 got nailed LMAO. After that the other 3 gave up chasing. I didn’t stick around but I wonder if they died trying to res their buddies.

Oh and a much much more recent one when I was playing glass guard (as I currently do). If you ever played glass guard than you know groups of people standing in a condensed area is the best moment in life. So I I’m approaching a sentry point where I notice a group of 5 standing capping the sentry (all 80s but no food). I immediately get my Shield and burst ready and go in and “drop the bomb”, immediately downing EVERYONE. I of course nearly died to their auto attacks but after they were all dead I jumped on their bodies for a good 5 mins before their Zerg rolled me, after which I got jumped on and laughed on!

With my OP thief i killed a necro with one single skill. He was scouting the hill in front of anza, watching our trebs in keep. Near the hill’s border i saw him …

A solo’s lightning fast /surprised + /sleep response to my roaming squad.

I just thought of another one. I play on an HTPC and my bigscreen. I was goofing around with a warrior condi build during season 1 and had just jumped through the waterfall in our BL JP just to have an enemy condi warrior waiting for me when I fell. I managed to immobilize him and double dodged out of his fire field. At that very moment the dog jump on the couch and stepped on the TV remote off button. I scrambled to get out of my gaming chair, get the remote, turn the TV back on, and switch to the correct input to find that, to my surprise, I am still alive but barely. I immobilized him again, cleansed, and dodge and disengaged. Recovered about 1/3 of my health and proceeded to totally own him. I was running a high DPS with anitoxin runes condi build he was one of those troll regen banner builds and wasn’t very good at it. I completed the JP just to have him jump me again as I exited the puzzle. I got him down again but didn’t finish him. Instead, I climbed up to the waterfall ledge and waited for him. I beat him 3 more times before a bunch of other people from all servers show up and had a 3 way group fight on that waterfall ledge which lasted like what seemed forever. Fun times.

As a Necro: Luring three opponents to the top of the ruins at the Temple of Lost Prayers and fighting them while they are coming up getting them down to half HP, When i was at very low HP i kited. So i went into DS and jumped off the ruins where the water seems to be deep, but actually is shallow.. the result being three dead opponents at the shallow part of the water…

I once downed a staff ele on my terri-bad thief. Since he was a staff ele, I decided to let him live in downed state, and I walked away. 2 seconds later my guild comes across the ridge, “Hey! What’s with the ele there? KILL HIM!!!!” I managed to get out “Hey, guys, I let him live, please don’t… Oh, well.”

This was hilarious at the time. Neither of us saw it coming.

I (a guardian) was roaming around and enemy BL with my roaming buddy (a thief) looking for fights. As we were about to find a more target rich environment, the commander on the map asked if anyone would take bloodlust. So we figured why not. There may be someone to kill there. By the time we got there, two of the points were already being capped so we headed out to the SW point, and to our surprise there were already 8 baddies sitting on it capping. I figure, “oh well, we can just go get another one”. By the time I thought it, he was on the point fighting 1v8. So i charge in shouting over TS “I’ll try to keep them distracted! Just kill them!” As I’m tanking the bulk of the group, I see one of them go down off to the side. I heard “One down.” over TS. This continues for about 3-4 more till I can stop taking and turn my attention to killing the rest with him. Now I’m not sure if they were just that bad or if we were just that on our game that day, but as we stood atop 8 dead bodies we realized that we just went 2v8 and absolutely roflstomped them. Those are the fights that keep me roaming. (Note: not to speak of gear or skill, but none were uplvs)

I play a mesmer and roam quite a bit… but the build I use is not very fast at running so it is usually better to just suicide if caught out by a large group. Once I was near the enemy held Dawn’s tower, when a zerg appeared catching me out… so I had a bit of speed boost so used it to run towards the cliff with about 6 enemies leaving the main zerg to pursue me… when I got to the cliff, I cloaked and dodged backwards, then used my great sword skill – illusionary wave to push them over the top of the cliff collecting 5 bags before the rest of the zerg and the one guy who had stability steamrolled me.

i think by roaming squad, he meant a party trying to rejoin the zerg and killing an uplevel they ran into dear.

I used slick shoes with toss elixir s stealth with rocket boots to leave a big line of slick tripping up a huge black gate zerg multiple times, I posted the best one on my channel where I waited for them at a choke and literally knocked there entire zerg down which was ridiculously big.

another funny time was the first day of season 1, a huge pug zerg was chasing me and my buddy’s into our spawn apparently they were all new to wvw just trying to complete the achievements since none of them apparently knew about the legendary defenders, I never have seen so many people run into an enemy spawn before and it was epic to see

2bronze something something hammer wars come at me on my ranger. 1minute later i get 2 loot bags. I stand there chatting with the ham wars while they complimented me, turns out they were stalling me and i see 15man zerg come at me, I accidentally press 2 on my sword i roll back off a cliff. Luckily i have soften the whatever traited so i barely survived my fall. Next thing i know i see the entire zerg go splat next to me….

I had just left my base camp when four hungry Kodash came at me, trying to rip me to shreds!
I barely made it back to safety and to my surprise, despite being invulnerable, they kept trying to kill me. The legendary defenders turned them into minced meat in seconds
