build sets
I dunno. I very rarely want to wear exact same items, skills and traits every day. For me the beauty of GW2 is in the way to can eternally adjust your build.
Sorry but all those “save and load buttons” make me instantly think of metabattle and some silly “best” builds you automatically load. Oh, look, this build does 0.01% more dps, its the best, and this does less so its rubbish!
I am not sure we mean the same thing I mean build sets specifically to allow for quicker build swaps. This would actually promote build diversity (technically not really, but it would make build swapping alot easier, and as a side effect, ppl like me would be more motivated to switch their builds more often), you could still adjust your builds as you want but in general it would be quicker to swap to the builds you MADE YOURSELF so you can swiftly play whatever you want. The whole point of this is to make build swapping easier and this would mean exactly the opposite of “wearing the same items etc.”
Totally agree with OP. Support Druid and pew pew ranger means swapping every darn thing and is way more difficult than when compared to the swap tools in gw1…… Other examples I can think of – frontliNe rev / back line rev and well necro / reaper… I am sure there are tons more…
I mostly solo roam but my build ofc is super selfish, so if a pug group comes by and I wanna lend a hand gotta stand still and swap, catch up, run with them for a few moments, see a squirrel, chase, swap mid flight and repeat…so yeah, would be nice to have a tool
Do want.
This was requested at launch, and probably in betas before that as well. And Devs have commented upon it in the far past that it is something they see the use off. But alas nothing happened, so guessing it creates too much complications for them or something. (Can imagine the items actually causing problems for them, as in solving where to dump items etc).
“Understanding is a three edged sword: your side, their side, and the truth.”
“The objective is to win. The goal is to have fun.”
I would welcome this kind of feature. If well-implemented of course. There are many details involved.
We already have different traits/skills for WvW and PvE which automatically kick in when player switches zone.
Unfortunately armor and weapons are not included. Players who play both PvE and WvW have to manually switch gear every time.
Also unfortunately player must be in that zone to change or even view the other build. If player changes to condi build in PvE and then goes to play WvW chances are the build is wrong.
That other game had 2 builds to switch between – complete with different items and talents. Some complexity arose from switching equipped items between backpack or bank. Especially in situations when player sold an item which belonged to the other build.
Luckily weapons and armor are not stackable in GW2. One equipped item slot equals one storaged item slot.
One thing to consider is whether the swapped items have bank access and/or access to alt characters’ inventory.
There should still be some note or a warning when player is about to lose an item which belongs to the alternative build(s). Also builds of alt characters.
This won’t hurt [Much]

Well I am glad you guys agree would love to see a dev response on this. I think it’s actually pretty important. However, if I remember correctly there have already been threads on this topic which have (all?) been left unanswered. Anyways, a roamer can dream.

Post it on reddit then lol.
Build templates have been requested in all game modes for a long, long time. Yes, it would be a nice QoL improvement and should be fairly simple for Anet to implement (its just a sequence of equip commands for stuff in your inventory and trait changes). They did it a third of the way by separating PvE and WvW builds (it doesnt separate gear) but the problem is that many run at least 2-3 specs in WvW depending on what you do at the moment, unlike fairly constant PvE meta builds.
