Seriously this is awful. Its right in the middle of my field of view in front of me. Who thought that having this in the center of the field of view, blocking me from seeing players or animations or anything right there in the middle of my view was a good idea? Are we even testing things anymore? or just throwing them in to see what happens?

Screenshot it so those of us who have jobs may also be outraged. (it sounds terrible)

Did anyone even ask for this? There are 100s of suggestions concerning commander tags, and they add THIS?

The target and seeing my name in white used to distract me. I got used to it.

People will get used to seeing their own tag. I prefer it to the buff – people will not forget to take it off when not leading :p

I like it. You guys will get used to it and come to like it. Think of those golem raids in water… or just getting lost in hoards of players in a zerg.

I guess I’m more used to it because we ghetto-tag in my guild.

Maybe an option to just turn it off or something? I don’t know. I think it’s nice.

And to those complaining that they added this instead of other stuff, the other stuff is surely coming, this was probably incredibly easy to do and they just added it with this patch. It was also in the beta.

Maybe it’ll kitten off the LA commanders, and they will detag.

Tags also cost 250 badges now. That’s new, and a step in the right direction IMO.

One upside is I won’t have to tell XYZ player they have their tag on when they didn’t realize it.

Please KITTEN fix this, annoying enough being a pin sometimes without ANET making it more KITTEN annoying.

Make some guild only pins, do something useful instead of f’n annoying more people.

Now that the que, UI fix and new WvW zone is live, how about working on a flexible grouping system that meets ALL player gaming styles?!?

A bigger problem for asura, as the badge is as large on the screen as the character is.

And it’s floating twice the character’s height in the air. It’s literally nowhere close to my Guardian’s head. Were it not so far away, I’d be a fair bit less unhappy with the change. Still, though, this needs to go away. Putting something in the dead center of my screen, where I’m trying to see stuff, isn’t really the greatest idea.

I`m really surprised it isn’t dealt with yet, its making me not want to command at all and its just huge.

Hopefully it’s a bug that will get fixed. I’d rather they put ac’s back to doing 509235235x more dmg.

It gives people a massive headache and is unnecessarily annoying as k i t t e n. It didn’t exist before, and doesn’t need to now. Take it off.

For a commander, its a significant problem. We need to see all around us at all times and anything like this is obstructive and a real hinderance to our basic function. Not to mention that its as large as my asuran character and you can hide a whole enemy behind it or more.

This was a feature in the EotM tests which was assessed as a nice feature by many of my fellow players and myself. Everyone else can see the indicator, so why should’t the commander be able to locate him- or herself in a pile of people as well?

Also it reduces the risk of running around tagged-up because you forgot to turn it off after changing maps and stuff. Really, it’s just a nice QoL feature which will be followed by more changes to the squad system in near future hopefully.

I dont need this commander symbol over my head to locate myself. If someone cant locate himself he should put the graphic settings up, change his armor dyes or maybe even see a doctor.

I have the impression that the people complaining never used targets to lead… Now that I really tested it in a play session, I really do find it’s nice – and it’s way less disturbing than the target was for me at the beginning…

It was a suggestion in the commanders collaborative development thread. I have no issue with it but a option to turn it off would be nice. At least I don’t have to ask my guildies if they still see me tagged when the buff shows up on my bar.

I am an asuran commander and lead on a daily basis, its not a real issue for me, but i do agree that it should be able to turn it off. But players here make it sound like it is game breaking like every other WvW complain

It is game breaking if it gives people migraines.

Turn it off anet. No reason to have it.

After playing since BWE1, and submitting multiple feedback tickets as well as posts on the forums, I still do not understand what seems to be ANet’s reluctance to provide an an on/off toggle OPTION for things such as commander tags, character names, titles, LS and personal story information.

It’s a pretty standard practice across the MMO industry.

Makes such a difference for the customer’s experience.

ps: Especially in cases where the new feature added overwrites existing gameplay. Providing a retroactive option is always a good idea to retain the trust of paying customers. and a reputation as a reasonable developer.

People will get used to it but I have to agree, all these suggestions and everything we have asked for and we get this ? I think they should just stop asking players what we want, what our likes and dislikes are, its pretty clear they do not care.

I’m a big fan of minimizing unnecessary graphics in the players FOV. Please give me an option to turn it off or get rid of it. I also support the ability for all players to toggle on/off commander tags if they don’t want to see them on the mini-map and what not.

It’s in the middle of your screen because you are zoomed in as close as possible.
How can you command effectively with your screen like that. You should be zoomed out far enough to see an entire battlefield.

That isn’t close as possible zoom in. It’s the next closest view. Plus, the commander tag is not just for WvW. I use it a lot in PvE when I do ‘newbie’ map tours. Even zoomed out, I don’t need or want it there. I know when my tag is on. It isn’t necessary and I don’t think I can recall anyone even asking for it so I’m not even sure why they added it.

Pretty much all the ss’s here are people zoomed in to make it look bigger.

Why does that matter? We don’t want it there to start with. I don’t recall anyone ever asking for an icon over commander’s heads. Is there a good reason why it is even there? If so tell me.

I like it. Running with target above your head is way bigger. Don’t get why it bothers people.

Honestly I like it too, much easier to follow where i’m at in the middle of a mess (small asurans get lost in all those hairy charr legs)

What? The point of the tag is to be able to provide a point of direction for those interested in organizing and working as a group. For those of us that use it as intended it has nothing to do with gaining attention but for tactical purposes in both WvW and PvE. Commanders that use the tag appropriately benefit players that are looking for tactical organization. Oh, but I suppose you are just trolling given that you have to result to insults to try to make a point.

are you so selfish that you dont realize that this eyesore you are imposing on yourself is also being imposed on those noobs you like to lead around? on every single person who wants to use the wp youre afking on but cant click cuz youre in the way and theyre too … inexperienced.. to zoom their minimap in? do you not realize that having 1804237 commanders at the local champ train doesnt help people keep up?

I can see when you have that random person tell you that your tag is still up and you weren’t aware… I also can see people rather having a visual on tag so they know its up and working.

Moral of the story it goes both ways for everyone some like others wont’t. To Anet: I just make it an option for people to have it visually shown or not shown, like how the AoE rings can or can’t be displayed… If thats possible.
