I don’t really like your suggestion of the type but I loved Gollie Rush week I thought it was awesome. Had so much fun doing that. I wouldn’t mind something similar but not what you suggested.

Don’t get me wrong I love my elite specs but it’s fun to go vanilla. Figured something like this might’ve been not too hard to implement and the way people rage about elite specs in wvw and PvP and in the profession forums you would think people would enjoy some old school play. Guess not

No, because the BKs will be bad again because they won’t be carried by their elite specializations anymore, and they won’t have that.

Sounds like a fun event you could organize with your server community. Just make a public vanilla raid and maybe even ask your opponents to do some vanilla server vs server fights. But please don’t try to force the whole WvW community to play without elite specs, that’s insane.

while we’re at thinking of what type of weeks we should have:

Insert class not played in WvW______ contributes bonus points to score week.
Everyone can carry up to 100 supply week
Flipping ruins and sentries give 10x points week.
Flipping 80% of a map starts a timer that will close the map.
Increased damage from all falling traits week (remember the fun mesmers had?)

I love this idea.

Even better if all HoT-related stuff could be disabled for one week in WvWvW. I mean stuff like Durability runes, viper/trailblazer/minster stats on armor and weapons and HoT specific (overpowered) consumables, such as Plate of Mussels Gnashblade.

Please give us the old vanilla back for at least 1 week!

It would be an improvement lol. Everything HoT is so many steps back it’s ridiculous. If this is the direction we’re going, I don’t want to keep moving forward.

I’d be down. I’d actually take (and pay for it, monthly, at $100 a month) an October 2015 GW2 client that would be promised to never be updated ever again than what we have now.

And you expect people to buy new equip just for that one week?

Really make it vanilla, don’t put colors on the map objectives. The only way you can tell who owns it is by walking up to it (range 1200 or something like that).

I’d wager the vanilla build thing won’t ever be possible because of the combat engine they use. It takes forever to get a balance patch out of them, just think of the coding time they’d need to accomplish what you want – then they throw it away after a week.

I get people have their gripes and perceived grievances with HoT additions but I have more fun playing a DareDevil spec with Physical Utility skills than I have with any other class in an MMO or RPG. The Elite specs are hit or miss but there’s some good additions in there, going all in one way or another is ignorant. Ask for some work to be done to ease up on all of the passives and free counters going on and you might that little safe space you’re looking for.

By the way, in our matchup anyway I see more core thieves than I probably should, maybe it’s the time of day I’m on, and they seem to do just fine in the mix.

Hot armor / combos/ runes are more like the reason why things are kind of messed up in wvw. The elite spec are strong but often what makes each class “op” has more to do with the core class and the ability to stack very powerful hot combos and runes. A lot has changed in the game but the effects of the core classes has not changed with it. (Ele is a good example of this as in even staff ele has fallen out of the meta for wvw because its the only class with out a real constion dmg effect the current meta.)

Old school necro can still be quite strong but do agree some HoT classes are insanely buffed and untouchable with the right build.

True: Most of them have left, also since they don’t stand a chance against other servers that would be pointless.
You could however launch GW2 retro and be surprised how many would buy it. Or not. But: This game has been great, once upon a time. It’s gone.

Why not also have a zombie week where the map is full of zombies that go between survivor outposts in a singular unwavering horde. They will immediately chase down any survivors they come across with much savagery.

We can even have spooky names for these weekly campaigns like dead end, drakkar lake and ebola reach…

@Jayne, you play condi mesmer, it is arguably as strong with no elite spec as with elite spec in a 1v1 -.-

? roamings deff not dead, it was always a small comunity who roamed? all i do is roam (unless rem feels like driving then its haocing).

i done do it with base ranger too, the only builds i have trouble with are condi mes, 3k amour ferocity utility buffed rev or warrior. just cant put enough pressure on them and they do insane damage still

Since you don’t wear dire I would duel, I hate builds that stack passive defensive stats and face tank. However I am HoD/NA. Not sure if we can fight in a guild hall or not.

No, EU/NA servers cannot interact with each other, not even in PvE.

Also you’d have to either go EotM or guild hall for the duels both of which provide problems. Shame really, would love to see Bambi reunited with its mother…
