What server are you on? It sounds like this is a new concept for you? There should, broadly speaking, already be a cultural way of “dealing with the emotional stress” of infiltrants.

Every server faces the challenge of fecalbrained, mouth-breathing individuals. This is not a new topic. And frankly, there is little you can do about it other than adopt an onion approach to your server comms.

Information is purposeful, timely and it has an audience. You need to understand the purpose of any information you are communicating, WHEN it needs to be communicated and WHO needs to know.

“Chat” is one (very public) form of communication.
Squad chat reduces the audience but a commander has no control over who is in his/her squad.
“Say” is broadcast but to a much more narrow audience.
“Group” chat is very narrow and controlled.

Further… voice services like teamspeak or mumble offer added layers to your onion. You can have very public channels, private channels, and also very narrow “out-of-band” chat messaging.

Keep in mind though… secrecy has a price. The cost is very precious… TIME.

“Changing one’s mind” and “pulling a 180” is also an effective strategy to combat both predictive behavior and potential infiltrant relays.

Now for some reality… “There is very little intel that can be communicated in a timely fashion about fast-moving troops.”

It’s just not a pragmatic enemy strategy to spy and few commanders with any salt are going to put their reputations on the line based on low integrity, high propagation delay spy reports.

THINK… we are talking about alpha dog personalities with ego. Do you so underestimate your enemy leaders that they will lap dog to a spy? Further, do you really think that a zerg is just going to “wait around the corner” based on a spy report? You can get a zerg to wait for maybe 20-30 seconds….tops! Before the gnat-sized bundle of patience and discipline begins to evaporate.

Not really. We have scouts out all the time. And scouting reports are constantly pouring into map chat.

Golem management is an art of war… the techniques are passed down from mentor to mentee. They are learned more through failure (what doesn’t work well) than through success. Many (if not most) of the techniques are held very close to the vest… for the reasons you are now discovering.

A golem action that is a success might have been successful because you had the perfect confluence of circumstances. Never assume perfect technique.

A golem action that fails needs to be seriously decomposed. You need to take a very painful, introspective look at what YOU could have done differently.

IMHO, the last reason for any battlefield failure should be “the enemy” — and a spy comes after that.
