So I just bought 10 exotic staffs from the weaponsmaster inside my wvw garrison. The cost is 1 gold and 198 badges per, basically all my savings. The goal was to use these in the mystic forge, and go for a precursor. How ever these can’t be used in mystic forge, and to top it off you can’t even salvage them. I hope this is a glitch. If not I will probably quit, took me months to get all those badges and there isn’t really a point in starting over.

Can have your gold when you quit? Oh wait….

Then I have some really bad news for you: They cannot be salvaged or used in the mysic forge. And this is intentional. It was changed several patches ago when the achievement chests were introduced that gave each player a large number of badges to prevent a sudden influx of materials and exotic items (note that you could have forged 4 exos into a new exotic that you could have sold on the trading post).

By the way: Forging a precursor on the mystic forge usually requires several hundred (up to thousands) of rare and exotic items (some have used 4000+ rares and got nothing but thin air).

Yeah… this is intentional, not a glitch — welcome to the life of a WvW player.

By the way, it would have been really nice of Anet to put a warning about forging/salvaging.

Yes I am upset about the badges, There should really be a warning before you go and waste all your badges. Poor planning by anet in my opinion. Oh well was fun while it lasted.

yup it sucks dude :/ I wouldn’t quit though, that amount of badges can be built back up within a week or two.

Badge gear/weapons haven’t been salvagable or forge-able in quite some time….I made that mistake with armor, and I only had to make it once.

That being said, if 20g took you months to get and that many badges to get:
1) always ALWAYS double check before you spend all your stuff at once. Plus, if you did the forge and only got 2-3g worth of weapons, what then?
2) I’d question what you’re doing in WvW….even achievement chests for PvE stuff give you A LOT. I make on average ~20+g a week minimum, and I’m a fairly casual player…

That being said, don’t quit. You made a mistake…many of us have made that some one before (a guildmate did a couple weeks ago)

Just put in one of each sigil onthose staves, now you’ll have one for every occasion…

I just wish an dev would acknowledge this as a problem, so they can fix it in the future so others don’t make the same mistake. and refund my badges

Documented bug from months ago. Doesn’t seem to be a priority. I still have 4 daggers sitting in my bank forever.

P.S. They are soulbound, too. So can’t even use them on an alt.

I got bit by the same thing. I wanted to try to salvage them to get the last dark matter than I need for a 2nd ascended weapon.

I have no problem with them being non-salvageable and non usable in the Mystic Toilet, but there should be something warning the player about this. “Indestructible: Item cannot be salvaged or transmuted.” Simple enough to do.

Anet should fix this. I can’ even get my sigils back and fine stones cost more that sigils. Start to kitten me off.

I suppose we’ll just have to keep this thread bumped till it’s fixed.
