how's WvW life on Piken Square?
Greetings! I’ve been on piken for almost a year now and here’s my honest viewpoints.
The good:
- very friendly and helpful community
- plenty of guilds to chose from depending on what type of WvW you’re after
- this is not my words but from those who freshly move over here that out ‘pugs’ are more skilled that those from other servers as almost everybody is in a WvW guild
-zerg fights – if this is your type of thing you’ll find plenty
-organisation – we have weekly server meetings on teamspeak, a commander trainee program supported by all our veterans and served initiatives.
-from what I hear, other servers have strict rules in their WvW, we have next to none.
- drama? What’s that?
-eternal battlegrounds will hit queue every prime time, on reset we may get two queues but they don’t usually last that long.
The bad:
-coverage is pretty abysmal, our night hours were extremely weak but we have an NA guild in the process of moving over
-match-ups are a bit of a pain: We either get night capped constantly (Baruch Bay with their hackers as well), come up against underwhelming servers or servers that roflstomp us due to coverage like Gandara.
-We have an american called Roy and he’s an absolute kitten
Now I don’t play as much as I used to so somethings may not be completely correct , just as far as I can remember. Feel free to mail/w me ingame and I’ll get you talking to some 24/7 WvWers I know
Oh, also since you mentioned roaming, I wouldn’t say its a strength or weakness. I was in a roaming guild part-time on Piken, we didn’t find loads or too little fights, the borderlands are usually pretty quiet for roamers during the morning and midday.
I second most of what Akatosh said. The community is friendly and we have a lot of guilds with different “action profiles”. Our night coverage mostly sucks but otherwise Piken is punching above their population class.
I’ve personally found that WvW on Piken varies a lot with the matchup. Sometimes we get our behinds handed to us because we’re up against two servers who can each field two or three blobs for every zerg of ours and it’s a week of paper Keeps. Sometimes we’re totally dominating a matchup and there’s nothing much to do. Sometimes, like apparently this week, it’s a mostly balanced match-up and there’s action to be had on all four maps and of all types – zerging, havoc, roaming.
Might be helpful:
I can second almost all that has been said. Friendly community, very relaxed public zergs, community TS and good fights every night at prime time.
Also can second that our coverage is pretty bad at the moment, so if you play outside prime time you might have problems finding groups to play with. On the other hand, roaming with 1-5 people is viable, so you can do some good even without a commander.
This week looks very tight matchup-wise and because of that we can see very good activity on prime time, even having twin-queues from time to time.
Piken roamers are the best.
Everyone knows that.
Since day 1 piken ,with its elite players, fights against very high populated server blobs and it can Always stand its ground.
That’ s a fact.
+1 for Piken :-)
We seem to be pretty good in open field fights, mostly friendly atmosphere, i’ve also had great small squad battles over camps and so on.
siege refresh reminder! :p

I do believe that this guy is on Piken, and when you listen to his vids or stream he is always having so much fun. It looks like a nice server to be on.
Every Server has it’s own unique Community, that has stayed loyal to their server over the years.
And even though many Guilds transfer in and out – things change, but that culture becomes a part of their Community that stays true to their Community in some form.
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

I moved away from Piken after my break since ESO release (been on Piken since launch otherwise). After megaservers hit, the uniquness of Piken took a big hit (ie rp) and almost all familiar guilds have left… but it still a good choice for a server like all above has said. My main issue with WvW was big ups and downs. Win the battles, loose the wars… Piken has never matched the coverage of other servers.
But still, recommended.
If Piken was in Facebook, it would have it’s relationship status with wubwub marked as “It’s complicated”. No but to be serious it’s good fun, balanced between the PPT and openfield fights.
hey guys, thank you so much for the replies!!! If I could use your comments to draw conclusions on the server I’d say the community is pretty good!!!
After an evening spent ‘chasing the blob’ and your comments I’ve definitely made up my mind…Piken her I come!!!!!
Anyone with space in a friendly international guild?
If you arrive on Piken, just ask to get an invitation to Stomp for Piken [PS], its the community guild on piken and a good starting point. Most of the people in PS are not representing, because they are on their main guild, but you have always also people representing PS.
PS gave me a great welcom on Piken and you have as soon as you land in piken some people around, who are really nice and friendly and are willing to answer all your questions and helping out, giving information on attacks on the different borderlands etc. PS is also doing guild misisons every sunday evening
Piken wakes up for the seasonal touraments, then we hibernate in the times between them.
Dunno about that. Last night we had queues for both enemy borderlands while still having a decent force in both EB and home border.
It’s probably due to the very close matchup this week which looks like we’re going to win with a small marginal. All the more proof that people will be more likely to play WvW if the matchup is a close one, but winnable.
best roamers come from piken
;)
Solo roamer, all classes.
