is leveling in WvW worth it?
Oh my ears and whiskers. Yes!
I wouldn’t level a character any other way.
You earn tons of karma – which you can trade for PVT weapons/armour with the WvW merchants. The gear needs to be swapped each 5 levels. As long as you do that, you’ll remain reasonably competitive with lvl 80 chars.
Almost anything will get you XP – but that isn’t the point. WvW is fun in a way that PvE isn’t so you probably won’t care.
If your server is winning and you are able to just join the zerg and run around and cap things, it’s not bad for leveling. In a balanced match where you spend more time fighting and less time capping, it’s pretty terrible experience when compared to pve.
Just frontrun to a top wvw like everyone else. Thats how gw2 is played, right? Lol
Until you hit 80 just find the blue Dorito on the map and follow the commander while you capture camps, towers, keeps, etc. You will level really fast that way and you will be more useful than if you were on your own.
Once you level up all the way to 80, you can start doing other jobs: havok, scout, ninja, yak escort/slapper, you name it.
By design, zerging will give you the most exp. Bear in mind that killing stuff (champs excluded) in wvw makes for lousy exp gains; on the other hand, capping stuff gives the most exp in wvw.
Mixing wvw with world bosses daily will get you to lvl 80 really fast.

Use an experience scroll or bang out 20 levels in the human area, do a few personal stories and craft the rest. The entire process is usually around 10-15 hours. Level 80 is where it is at and up levels are generally not welcome in skill groups which IMO are the only fun groups to run in.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
You can do it, just make sure you update gear so that you aren’t free rally for the enemy. Best green avaible to your level should be enough thanks to the upscaling.
I don’t know if going into WvW as a level 2 is a good idea or not seems how you need some good skills to play WvW effectively. Other than that, go nuts.
WvW is worth for leveling from lvls 60 onwards.
Anyway, with a upscaled character you’re likely going to be a rallybot and get flamed, so meh.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
I’ve levelled characters from about level 7. To be honest, it’s so easy to level the first 10-15 levels in PvE anyway and you really need to get your skills sorted out during that period. After that, WvW is the way to go.
I’ve never had anyone attempt to ‘flame’ me and they’d be wasting their time. No-one has the right to tell you how to play this game. Anyone who gets arrogant enough to try it is asking to get banned. Just ignore any such attempt and if it gets too much – just report them.
Might as well start grinding for AF and GL early.
so, do i have to go to my server’s borderlands or whatever? like when i enter it gives me the choice for a few different ones. i always just go to anvil rock borderlands, since that’s my server. but does it really matter? i usually only spvp, my highest i’ve ever gone in pve was 22.
I would not try to seriously level on AR in WvW. best bet is to look at Eb for a karma train and join up. But WvW is dead except for trains in EB on most of the lower servers now.
If your not attached to the server. Transfer to one of the top 6 servers to level for wvw.
And BONUS you will be on the willing side and claim massive skill against everyone else!
Stat increase = gear grind.
Gear grind = no money from me ever again.
If you’re an uplevel and fighting a server with 2-3 stacks of the bloodlust buff, be prepared to be “one shotted” frequently.

It generally doesn’t matter. As a low level, you’ll really want to join the karma train behind a Commander, in which case Eternal Battleground is usually your best bet.
The four maps are actually part of one big map. If you zoom out the map you’ll be able to see that and WayPoint from one to the other. Each borderland gives a small layout advantage to the ‘home side’ so it’s more easily held, with EB and it’s castle Stonemist being the central point of contention.
You may need to transfer to a better WvW server. Those at the bottom of the pecking order are there for a reason. Usually they have a high PvE population who don’t like PvP and they are not really going to have much going on in WvW. You might just find it’s a ghost town.
The more people you have in you ‘zerg’ the safer you’ll be until you start to find your feet and venture out alone.
It’s worth it if you like WvW.
I leveled my thief from lvl 2 to 60ish in WvW, and I didn’t get flamed even once. But thieves have awesome survivability from the start, so I wasn’t rallying anyone in fights.
I’d advice to build your character for max support when leveling in WvW. Unless you’re roaming alone or in very small groups.

This issue of ‘flaming’ is something I keep seeing repeated.
It doesn’t happen.
Admittedly some people have this idea that low level characters die more easily and are likely to provide a rally to opponents but on the whole most people are aware that it doesn’t happen enough to be a problem.
In a guild setting (particularly GvG) it might be an issue so it’s generally avoided, but that’s for the guild to decide. An up-levelled character with good gear is as survivable as anyone else and with skill, probably better so it depends on individual cases.
One thing for sure. If I heard anyone being criticised for entering WvW at any level or with any gear, the critic would hear from me at full volume and probably be reported for harassment. Never seen it happen though.
(I play on a very WvW oriented server)
In short, YES! It’s the fastest way to get experience in my opinion and fun too.
