There’s a new app for WvW that will tell you buff timers, notifications, siege placement for objectives, etc.

There is quite some other overlays/apps that allows tracking of position (from the Mumble API) that doesn’t require to install the useless bloatware (close to malware) that Overwolf is…

Still don’t get how Anet could promote that monstruosity in any way.

All those other overlays do not allow you to play in fullscreen mode like we do though, you need to be in windowed fullscreen. They also don’t offer all the other apps we have too =)

And what makes you say that it’s malware/bloatware? We have nothing in there at all that is harmful in any way and have many partnerships with many companies (Anet, Twitch, Wargaming, TeamSpeak and many others) to make a quality overlay.

I’m asking for real as any feedback you have to make Overwolf better is considered very seriously and we use all of it to better the program for our users.

My overwolf keep reseting its settings to default everytime I open GW2… But other than that I never had a problem with using it… So I don’t see how you can call overwolf somenthing close to a Malware.

And this app looks interesting. I won’t have to alt+tab and look at MoS.Millenium everytime I want to check somenthing.

Alt tabbing was a problem for me too. I don’t have an extra monitor so when I was raiding with my guild I always had to do that to see if the camp has the buff or not. Now with the PPT app I don’t have to do that, and on top of that I also have an overview of what the enemy is doing.
Yesterday I was playing WvW and the claimed by guild feature actually told you the trail that the guild GOD was leaving. Every time they got a camp they put +5 on it for extra supply.
And the app has other stuff in it too, like the scouting map, bloodlust, etc.

Ah the propaganda master from overwolf is there….
The same guy pretending overwolf is the answer for everything to people asking a simple functionality on a simple software (TS3) that was part of said software before and don’t want all the useless problems coming with facebook/twitter/stupid_thingy#1to50000 that Overwolf put int.

And honestly, there is nearly no difference between fullscreen and windowed fullscreen in terms of performances, and Overwolf is a monstruosity.

I don’t know how much you paid Anet to get them to promote that thing, but it’s sad they fell for it….

Ps : you know kitten well what most people despise about overwolf and don’t want about it and you don’t care, as you’ve proven times and times again in the TS3 forums, with the “one answer fit it all : Overwolf do it” to things that are miles away from that thing, and on top of that getting the TS3 moderators to tag threads as “solved” when they weren’t at all just because you had posted your “Overwolf do it guys, even if you don’t want it and SPECIFICALLY stated it from the first post, and over and over, Overwolf do it and you are wrong not to use it”.

It’s tiresome, and painful.

The ways of overwolf putting 3000 things that no one needs in it, forcing to use a third party software with loads of things you don’t want/don’t even concern the games you play/software you use just for simple features is what was wrong with software 20 years ago…. there is no reason to bring it back.

All you want is captive users and lots of info about them to sell them/market them/monetize them afterwards, and the ONLY feedback you accept is people saying Overwolf is great and fills all of their needs, while discarding all the posts explaining to you what’s wrong with it, and why it doesn’t fill the needs explained, again and again and again and again….

Oh and all your “wonderfull other apps” are pretty much all the same….
The last thing you did with Anet basically lead to half a dozen apps, pretty much all doing the same things, and all clones of existing overlays (except one, the one from this thread).

I don’t see the interest in that or how it could be dubbed so ’important" and “major” for GW2 to have Anet put it in first page and support it, outside of Overwolf paying quite some to be there to expand their user base and revenues they derive from it…..

Overwolf has something called “Remove this App” button, so u can remove/deinstall any unwanted apps which are maybe pre-installed.

But ye.. would be nice if u just could choose all the Apps which u want and which not when u installing Overwolf.

Ye.. that’s there are quite some clone app’s in the ANet overwolf contest could be, because of the limited API that guild wars 2 offers, I mean what do u want or what could YOU do with this API?

It must something noone else have done, so that it isn’t a cloned app, pls give me some ideas.

It’s the same as saying that people using TS have a unfair advantage over those who do not have it…

I don’t think it is a violation of the ToS. The app uses the official API released by Anet plus the company is promoting a contest over this kind of app.

It is not much different from what we see and use from Mos Millenium and GW 2 Score, one could point out the extra resources like siege and and damaged wall and/or gate. However it is a pen and paper style, one person have to fill up all the information, would be same as you make a doc about what you have of siege and upgrades in your border then share the link with the server.

I think, perhaps, the only concern about it is the prospect to grief since anyone could supply or change the information about siege placement and damage to gate and walls. A way to increase the security level would make the information displayed more trustworthy and incentive more players to use it in my opinion.

I’m sure if it can be done in this app it can be done on a website… so.. I get banned for having duel monitors and looking at a web page based on this logic? no. I think information offered by the api is probably OK. Sure it gives them an advantage but literally everyone could use this if they wanted to (don’t go on a bad computer rant, if your computer is that bad you should expect to be at a disadvantage any way). As everyone can possibly use this, if they choose not to, they choose to put themselves at a disadvantage. At any rate if you have one guy in team speak or even in map chat with it on, its close to having it your self so even those that don’t have it won’t really be all that effected.

Indeed, ArenNet will not ban people for using the PPT app because they are the ones that are promoting/sponsoring the contest.

If you trust the scout and connect to his map then you will have valuable information. If some random guy says, hey commander connect to my map for the scouting info on Briar and everything there is bogus, then it’s a problem with the person. Trolling is everywhere, can’t really escape it.
What trolls can’t do, is mess someone else’s siege map. Only the owner can edit the info, the rest are guests and can only view it.
Like I said in the video I would like to add extra security features for the siege map like requiring a password if needed or give someone you trust edit permissions.
