outmanned buff = 0 repair bill
love the outmanned buff, farm them at my spawn and get lots of exp.

Simple and brilliant suggestion. Outnumbered servers are going to be suffering more casualties anyway, so it makes sense to slash or do away with their armour repair costs. It would also encourage the outnumbered to take part in valiant, heroic cough suicidal cough activities to drive the enemy back.
you could just not wear gear like a few kittens on my server.

TBH, I think they should just remove repair fees entirely from WvW, like waypoint travel. It basically punishes you for being aggressive. As if siege weapon BPs and control point upgrades weren’t enough, I’m spending anywhere from 30s to 1g on repair fees for one day of PvP, depending on how hard the fighting is, and not making nearly that much back from successful attacks/defends. Toss on top of that the average 1-2g I spend on the aforementioned BPs and upgrades I spend in a hard day of PvP and I find myself having to farm crap in Orr every other day just to be able to afford to do WvW.

in the same sense, it also keeps people from mindlessly tossing their character at defenses just to get some numbers to pop on a peice of siege… is it worth it to get that siege down? sure… but is it worth 12s in repairs for 10 people? probably not considering you could do it smartly and not suffer anything but a maybe a death or two at the most.
there has to be some sort of incentive to get people to play smart, and having repair bills (as small as they are) is a good thing.
but reducing them or removing them for people who are completely outmanned, is a great suggestion.
I think this is a great idea. Losing servers keep losing even more, since people stop queueing for WvW when they realize all is going to happen is huge repair bills.
Granted, this happens even without the outmanned buff, but it should definitely work for when you are outmanned and have basically no chances to fight back.

The idea that the repair cost prevents people throwing their lives away isn’t really true. People still do that, they just do it naked now. We had a naked norn elementalist throw himself at one of our catapults and die a few times, the repair cost isn’t punishing him.
Personally I dislike it because I think it punishes people for taking risks like sending a small team to assault enemy supply camps and if you die you are already punished enough by having to run the entire map to get back. Also most of the time you die it isn’t your fault, it simply because you turn a corner and run into the enemy zerg and get slaughtered in seconds.
It would be better to lower the rewards from WvW events and remove the repair cost.
I would second this. I tend to take my guild on high risk maneuvers. Examples of this being almost suicidal distractions, taking small teams to hit and run on camps, etc. This kind of thing would tend to happen more often and provide more interesting takes on tactis in WvW, I’d suggest, if the penalties of doing it were reduced… As you dont tend to need to do these things as often unless you are totally outgunned, I second this idea.

Not wearing gear is so ftw if your gear is crappy to begin with.
You’re already down like 8 orb bonuses from gear alone.
And also:
Faster supply generation
Faster Dolyaks
Cheaper (or free) siege (rams, arrow carts) (1 max)
More guards
Tougher guards
etc…
I’m sure I could come up with 20 more, then they could just pick a few and give them a go.
Simple idea and a good one.
+1
I can see in large servers with big queues how they need to encourage people who die alot to switch out and pve so others can get in. But for low populated and outnumbered servers don’t need this penalty.
I haven’t worn armor since level 20. Even though they cut through you like paper, it’s so much more fun to take chances roaming enemy territory and not have to worry about a giant repair bill. I’d much rather they use something like Death Penalty from GW1 to punish death because that is not permanent.
