World position during skirmish is pretty much determined by population
As much as you think individual players can influence it, a zerg capping and holding keeps and towers will always outppt backcappers whenever they want.
So its unfair to put so many pips on something you have no control over.
At least 5 pips for outnumbered is some consolation for getting stomped. Plus the more people that try to find outnumbered maps, the less effective it becomes – in t1 at least you can’t afk for long in outnumbered map because it won’t last.
Try playing on an under populated server and you’ll see what I mean
better make loyalty bonus +3
World position is (mostly) population based like Pancake.3092 said so it shouldnt affect that pips more than minimal (1,2,3 is enough)
But i agree that outmanned should only be +1 … a nice bonus but no reason to change to a specific borderland
The only other thing that i think could be done would require major changes so the actual amount of objecties you cap/defend within a time matters more instead of just tagging an npc guard every 10 minutes
And Anet would have to make T1, T2, T3 objectives be much more valuable to defend so people have incentive to keep those secured until T3 instead of just giving it to the enemy in order to recap it later for points

You’re doing a lot to repel new blood. It’s already impossible to catch up or become remotely close and the requirements also reflect this. So you can keep it how it is, but after the new shine of the changes are gone it will be the same population. Maybe that’s how you want it, I’d rather encourage news players, or medium WVW time based players to play the mode more while not pushing them way with massive requirements.
It’s not about making it casual, it’s fine tuning to reward loyalty and encourage new/old players to use this mode more. The fact wvw rank is not exponential is already a deterent. Someone who plays even a moderate amount of hours but was not playing only WVW since the beginning are just light years away, even light years behind someone just playing a year.
Let’s be real, WVW is just about time. For most just ktraining, stacking defensive armor, spamming aoe defensive/offensive skills. Some posters almost looking down at people who don’t have their rank, it’s easy to be this way when you know there’s zero chance someone can catch up to you with linear progression system.
Once again I think there needs to be a balance, with loyalty rewards giving novelty bonuses like exclusive skins, grindy prestigious titles etc, not massive differences like triple pip counts. You’re going to just end up with the same population, maybe some want this gentlemen’s club situation, shrug but you don’t want to keep increasing the gap, otherwise no-one else will ever even have the motivation.
Actually, I thought about it last night. The outnumbered bonus applies to roamers who seek out maps with fewer zeros to dodge.
Roamers were traditionally unable to gain ranks and so don’t get the bonus that higher ranked players get (up to +7). So if you are a roamer you will more often get the +5 outnumbered bonus.
This is actually a brilliant solution to the complaint that roamers are disadvantaged under this system. I joined a BL and played a bit. More than half that time was spent outnumbered. This rewarded me for sticking around in the BL and doing havoc work.
