I was just wondering if this would be possible to have pvp gear convert over to WvWvW because it is also pvp. I hate running into wvwvw with my lv 63 thief who is geared out on full orrian from winning paid tournaments and getting rocked by some pve person decked out in full exotic gear. if wvwvw had a completely different set of gear i would be fine with it, but as it is right now pve players get to dominate a pvp map because they just have higher stats than every one else.

i agree that i dont like pve gear in wvwvw. or at least give me a base set of gear that i can pick up when i zone into the borderland.

Its fine the way it is. Not hard getting exotic gear anyway with all the karma you get in WVW. If anything WVW gear should be earned in WVW not grab your PVP gear that was earned in PVP and use it in WVW. PVP and WVW are separate and not everyone does both.

just going to throw down spvp is pretty balanced i see every class in paids now performing well. Also then as i said wvw should have a completely different gear set. all im saying is its unfair that pve players get a gross advantage over spvp players that want to go into a different part of the game. Getting the ranks to get good gear in spvp takes a long time and getting paid gear means you are very good. but as a player wanting to try out a different aspect of the game it just makes me sad that one group can go in between the 2 modes and the other cannot.

I’ve earned a lot of money and karma and got some great drops from WvW, if you play enough WvW you’ll be able to gear your character too. I do not think it will take that much longer than someone trying to gear his character through PvE.

If you’re really as good as you claim to be you’ll have a full set of karma exotics in no time at all.

WvWvW is Guild Wars 2 version of open world pvp with castle sieges.

most of the time its zerg vs zerg so no gear wills ave u from that much dmg.

and if its 1v1 why are u using bad gear ? just spend a few days makeing gold (go to orr farm ores/trees/herbs) get a few lvl 80 zones 100% compelte they give 40 orci ores and exotics.

please dont come here and complain about your own lazyness in getting 2 sets of gear for a PVPVE aspect of the game

Yet WvW is even more different from PvE, so if your logic applies, WvW gear should be separate from PvE as well.

I have been entertaining similar thoughts as the OP. I think it’s strange that someone who has spent all their time in PvE has easy access to both forms of PvP, since they can transfer their PvE gear to WvW, while they get the same stats as everyone else in sPvP. Someone who has spent all their time on sPvP on the other hand, does not have easy access to WvW, since their sPvP gear does not transfer to WvW. So before they can fully enjoy both forms of PvP they have to level their character and grind for gear. Yes, it is possible to level and get gear in WvW, but unless you want to spend weeks/months doing it (at least in my own experience), it requires you to stick to the main zerg and hope for as many tower captures in as low time as possible, turning WvW into a grind.

In an ideal world, PvP and PvE players alike should be able to jump into WvW and have fun on equal footing. I would therefor like a system in which your sPvP rank and gear would somehow benefit you in WvW the same way that PvE levels and gear currently does. A couple of examples off the top of my head:

When joining WvW, I could be able to choose whether I want to join with my PvE gear or my sPvP gear. The sPvP gear could be normalized to be equal (or slightly lower) in total stats compared to similar level PvE gear. If it’s slightly lower, then there will still be incentive to finish the PvE aspect of the game for those that wish to do so. How much lower the totalt stats are could, for example, depend on PvP rank, so that exotic PvP gear + high pvp rank = exotic PvE gear.

PvP rank could count towards your “base” level in WvW. So if I’m rank 28 and join WvW with my level 2 character, then I get access to same traits and utilities as if I was in fact level 30 (2+28). Similarly, a rank 30 player that joins WvW with a level 50 character would have the same access to traits and utilities that a level 80 character would today. In this way, both PvP and PvE “levels” would benefit your character in WvW.

These changes would make WvW more accessible to PvP players, while not negating the influence of the PvE aspect of the game.

As long as there’s some “entry fee” or sorts to get the gear into WvW I have no issues with it. Please note that by entry fee I don’t mean gold or gems or whatever, but like Xaros said something like PvP rank or something. It would be very annoying if any nub can just pop onto PvP, grab gear then go to WvW and be fully armed but yes, I do think that a career PvP’er should be able to pop into WvW and be geared just like a career PvE’er.

Nope, I have zero issues with the separation right now. I don’t want Spvp stuff coming into PvE, nor WvW. Getting to 80 and full exotics is significantly easier than getting to a high level in Spvp already.

It’s fine the way it is. Those only playing competetive pvp don’t need to gear up because everything is maxed and free in sPvP to keep everyone on a level playing field (bar class imbalances).
Basically it’s a separate game with different characters (the only thing that is the same in sPvP as your real character in Tyria is the character appearance).
Those that like open world’ish PvP play WvW and know that like with forms of world pvp implemented in almost every game you’ll have the character progression of PvE (though scaled up to 80).
With the current state, being able to take your sPvP gear into WvW would be completely unbalanced and unfair towards PvE/WvW only players that built their character for WvW by a combination of WvW and PvE. Which is the opposite of what you state.
Why would you deserve the same level of gear even though you didn’t contribute to the WvW battle yet and instead chose to waste your time in a different game mode just for your own bit of fun instead of contributing to your server?

So u are sayig that u should get full exotic gear with any sigil/rune u want, that u got for FREE in sPvP and use it in WvWvW, just like that ? As far as my knowledge goes in sPvP u get top gear, and u cant purchase anything brtter for glory, just same gear with different skins. Y that would be smart move …. NOT.

They could implement WvW only armor that you can buy uses glory, badges and karma.

But why? This game isn’t supposed to have gear progression is it? At least, that’s why 90% of you cry about ascended gear.

I should be able to roll a level 1 whatever and hop right into WvW(and doing more than 200 damage per hit with my auto attack).

I’m not saying give me exotic or legendary gear. But give me an entry level set of gear so I can customize for my specific build

xaros has laid down my idea in a much better format above. also the idea of having separate wvwvw gear is cool and being able to buy with glory/karma/badges. and make the badge require less than the other 2 so if you do wvw you will get wvwvw gear faster than pvp/spvp players.

Don’t QQ that you work so hard in sPvP and you want ur gear to work in WvW. you already get a free scale to 80. work as hard as you do in sPvP in WvW and u will be fine. in addition, in sPvP u get maxed gear free… def. should not be able to hop over to WvW like that. personally I don’t think you should scale up either but meh, I guess it works.

I do fotm, so QQ’ing to me about Ascended gear doesn’t do much since I actually don’t mind progression. I feel that just as PvE people can’t do as well at level 1 or 10 or 20 in WvW, neither should PvP players.

It’s fine as it is. Hell, it’s hard enough to get enough PVE’ers in WvW these days so that you are not outnumbered. Don’t make WvW any harder population wise.

Yeah. They should add Spvp gear/WvW specific gear to WvW when they balance the game for 1v1 and zerg warfare. I mean, if you hardcore Spvpers can’t do pve, why should Anets game design and our enjoyment stand in the way of you not actualy playing the game you bought…

why do pve players get entitled to wvw and pvp players don’t get a chance? i don’t see the logic here. Since wvw is primarily pvp. Also i never said give us all exotics right off the start. All i said was if you put the time into it to win paids or to get to rank 50 (which takes alot longer than getting to 80 and then gearing full exotics i assure you, already did that on elementalist.) then you would get exotics but if you are trying to use the starter gear you would have low i lv gear. or as i said dont make pve gear usable in wvw and just have a wvw set of gear. this would be fair right ?

no, it is fair the way it is. your character scales to 80 not your gear… even pve players had to earn their gear. same as WvW only players… which is not pve…

spvp is trash because of the gear and carebearian “Everyone must be equal” feel of it. I like WvW because the gear makes different builds work good.

And farming coins for WvW gear in PVE is well worth your time if you don’t make coins in WvW.

Spvp is a completely different universe for a reason, it wasn’t done on accident. People who pvp in mmos want an even playing field, and the only way to do that is standardized gear that doesn’t rely on pve progression. Granted, I could care less, but you will find the PvP community to be picky about rather odd things when it comes to percieved “fairness.” Lord have mercy if you should die to someone who isn’t more skilled than you.

Just need more varied and accessible WvW gear.

While I think Spvp needs a lot of love, the gear system is not the problem. It would help to give exp for PVE to make it more popular.

that’s pretty funny, the skill difference between tpvp players and WvW players is a pretty big gap… in a 50 man battle, I’d put my money on the tpvp players (even though WvW players have more experience in huge fights)… just go back to mindlessly zerging around for hours…

I would agree with you if PvP gear had better progression. As it stands you can be a complete noob and get decked out in pretty good gear just because the tournament boxes are random and its EXTREMELY easy to forge high level gear in spvp. I got my full set of orrian for my mesmer in spvp in 5 min from forging. So simple and easy. I would love to have gear progression in sPvP. Would be a big upgrade from its current state and would give people more of a sense of progression than ranks because most people in MMOs care about getting shiny stuff more than anything else. Just my 2cents, and I’m a huge sPvP fan by the way so I’m not ragging on something I don’t like.

It’d be nice to be able to toggle it. Would definitely help uplevels and spvp mains, but wouldn’t hurt PvE/WvW players at all.

It would support dem blobing even more so ofc – HELL NO! If you’re so good in sPvP I guess you got a lot of glory to spend on leveling your character via books for 1,5k glory.
Then, there is no easier way to buy eq for badges/karma/gold/laurels.
