Hey there…I’m probably lured in by the new expansion but I’m due to return to GW2 after a long absence.

1. I’d like to find out how my 3 preferred classes are doing: warrior, guardian and revenant…any major changes? Are they viable in WvW?

2. any current meta?

3. what are the main changes to WvW in the last year?

1. Both Guard and Rev are required for meta party/sub squad(s) synergy; stability is what keeps us all alive and resistance spam fends off the condi’s. Warri on the other hand isn’t as common but still welcome especially if you pull off generous Battle Standard elite(s) (e.g; resurrection on commander).

2. Current meta usually consists of the aforementioned Guardian (x2), Rev along with Reaper and Mes/Tempest for boonshare and/or support heals. Just depends what your commander needs at the time. The meta itself is largely dominated by your heavy frontliners that push in (parallel to midline/frontline Tempests for heals etc) supported by resistance spam combined with the absolute bag full of cancer that is Reaper condi’s on top of other viable power oriented builds such as CoR spamming power revs/DPS Berserkers. You’ll find certain guild groups making use of Mesmer’s traits such as invul signet spam, occasionally.

3. Main changes to WvW in the last year or more are as follows (no particular order):

  • More reward tracks added
  • Skirmish & various PPT/PPK adjustments & rewards
  • Shield Generator siege (2015)
  • Gliding has been added to WvW (currently under testing)
  • Catapults now do more dmg if fully charged
  • Slight terrain adjustments due to Gliding introduced
  • Provisions Master (World Ability Points)
  • Drop bundle now deposits siege into your inventory instead of on the ground
  • Gift of Battle locked behind reward track instead of bought out right with currency
  • Slight changes to how Participation depletes/accumulates etc
  • WvW legendary backpiece + legendary armor (available; Warbinger. Not sure about the armor yet but you will be able to upgrade the ascended version you acquire in WvW to legendary tier… retains regular asc version skin though.)
  • Handful of profession/skill balance including recent changes to food consumables + utility consumables has affected WvW gameplay (e.g; Epidemic changes, condition, expertise, concentration foods in particular)

There’s probably more but that’s just off the top of my head. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any questions if you wish.

EDIT: just a heads up regarding Warri new elite spec; Spellbreaker has proven to be quite destructive boon hate etc so we may see the return of HAMMERSTUNNNNN! builds (theorycrafting here with guildies) with absorption sigils etc. Was very fun in the beta rompin’ around with Scourge’s (necro new elite spec) barrier mechanics, too.
