rezzing through gates
I think it should have the same regulations as being able to use skills through a gate. As an example: if you are allowed to damage an enemy ram through a gate using your weapon skills, your enemy should be allowed to res one of their own through the gate, regardless of the resurrectee’s class.
It’s part of the game but people/guilds caught doing it are usually laughed at by others and a source of amusement for using what many consider a cheap trick.
You can do it, but it’s not classy.
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
Ah – another Mesmer QQ thread.
If a Mesmer manages to survive well enough to die close to a gate they’ve done well. Most players are aware of the danger and will do their best to make sure they don’t.
If one does succeed you have a simple choice – you can take the risk and leave or you can set a guard. Your choice.
Personally, I play Mes and 4 other classes. I’ll elect to sit on his/her face as long as he/she cares to lay there.
I would prefer all finally dead are immediately ported to spawn. This is (only) one of the reasons, why I prefer this. (others are attrition war, perm-stealth thieves reviving mesmers that failed to make it to the gate )
I don’t mind people rezzing through the gates but there really needs to be a forced respawn timer. I consider circumventing the afk timer whilst being dead an exploit.
all is vain
It is an exploit. I am sure if ANet had an easy fix to this they would implement it. Sadly there is nothing that can be done except don’t kill a mesmer by a gate which is MUCH easier said than done.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
The only bad part about doing this is that it is VERY easy to circumvent the afk timer..so either you sit on the person for sometimes 20-30 minutes, or leave and risk them porting people in. The solution of course is to make it so that swapping armor (or similar actions) don’t circumvent the afk timer. I say this as a mesmer who CONSTANTLY hides in keeps (while alive) and uses tonics to hides. Personally, I feel like its a very scumbag and desperate move for a group (especially a guild group) to do a mesmer rez through a gate…and shows more often than not that guilds true colors.
When I see a group do something like this, if its a guild name I recognize I try to contact an officer to let them know someone is hurting their guilds reputation doing stuff like this, and leave it upto them to decide if they feel like its something that is an “exploit” or not.
I feel like any mesmer doing this only hurts the reputation of the profession and incurs more nerfs to it, and I personally scold any mesmer I catch doing it.

To me its a cheesy tactic, what Anet could do is disable gear changing while death so the bodies will get disconnected after 15min, just like any other “afker”

Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
A force respawn timer would fix this.

A force respawn timer would fix this.
There is 1 already but you can reset its timer by changing gear being dead, should not be possible too imo.

They’re exploiting a bug, though I could’ve sworn they had fixed this a while back.. maybe submit a detailed bug report.. they could’ve missed one gate or something.

Yet another problem that would be fixed by removing dead state. Just make it so you have 10 seconds to pick which waypoint you go to or it auto takes you to the main waypoint of the bg.
We always post people (well, we TRY to) with pull skills by the gates and pull them just before they get downed so they are away from the gate. It has been since I have seen a mesmer try to do this, besides the Bay watergate. For some reason mesmers love the watergate in Bay. I hesitate to call this an exploit, I think it is more a lack of actual skill on the mesmers behalf.
And yes, we do tend to laugh at the mesmers that have no skill at hiding.
