1. We determine that time zones stop to exist.

why is night capping a problem? just as there are americans on eu servers there are also eu players on american servers.

and there are “night owls” on both sides….

Or am i not aware of something?

jokes aside the “scoring improvements” seem like a lot of new problems rather than solutions to existing troubles with server population balance. I’m frustrated the only options are “fix what isnt broken” “add a sparkle trail” and “no preference”.

A much easier solution, once it is dark outside that should then be considered “night”. ANET needs to make a calculation on when “night” starts for each player and then simply block access to wvw when “night” starts so that they can no longer nightcap.

To give an example of this, EU players would be blocked from playing wvw from roughly 8pm central european summer time.

Day capping is the same issue when most of the population is at school or work.

It needs to be scaled relative to the size of the enemy.

This is broken because they have been doing it backwards. Instead of trying to force the population to adjust to the maps, the maps need to adjust according to the population.

Solution to this issue:

  • Keep the current Servers in tact as PVE servers " home worlds" keeping their current communities in tact and then create LESS/ More WvW servers determined by WvW population that the players have to choose a new one every 3 months or so to keep the matches from becoming stale. When players want to play WVW they then chose a WvW server and play on that for the 3 months before having to choose again. This way players on the same home server can still all coordinate and choose to play together as well and determine who they play with instead of being forced to play with players they do not wish to play with via random mergers. Player still having control over this is important to their game play enjoyment.
  • Start WvW with Base maps that can be covered all time zones, then have temporary timed maps that added as playable as all servers in the matchup hit 15 in Queue. ( For example, all servers in the match hit 15 in Queue, another EBG opens and players have to go there or lose the points from not doing so. )If when the time comes up for the maps to expire and there are still enough population to support them, they are renewed, however, if there is not enough population in all 3 servers in the match to support them the maps will expire. and they will have less maps to cover.
  • change scoring to make the highest scoring in the game mode is PPK and LOOT given to players fighting other players over objectives without the use of siege damage on players, rather than to the actual objective itself. Slightly higher PPK and LOOT for defending team than attacking team to force hard choices to make players come back to defend.

The score would then reflect the number of players in the game mode at different time, while not devaluing their effort as the score still applies equally across the board to all players regardless of time zone. All players would be treated equally regardless of what time they come home from work and have time to play while ALSO not rewarding PVD and server stacking.

Fairly sure that is what Anet means when they say “nightcapping”. The term is simply known well enough instead of giving lengthy explanation of “period of time when player activity from enemy server is lower then average”.

Not important if it is night or day. Important part is that more points should be awarded when more enemies are on the map and less points when no enemies are around to fight you.
