While in PvE stacking and boonsharing is almost mandatory (raids for example) and nerf it would make the game much harder, some instances even impossible, In WvW because the amount of players involved in fights is becoming a problem.

The stacking + boonsharing problem make the combat be defined by numbers and only by it. Bigger groups will always be in advantage over smaller ones, even if is just for a marginal number, because the amount of heal, stability, quickness and protection is simply more.

So instead spiting the mechanics of the boons/skills between game modes, that is seems Anet has very limited access to it right now i propose to buff the roles of some classes to deal with it.

Mesmer

Although the mesmers are useful in WvW they use is more about prefight while during the fight their effects are pretty limited.

So i think to give the mesmer a rol of disruption the boon sharing and some limited disruption of stacking wouldgive them a role that would keep them engaged during combat phase.

An skill that can rip all the boons in an small AoE periodically . A well or other kind of skill to somehow prevent the preboon staking.

An skill that can make an small group of enemies invisible between them. And while they are in this state they can’t get boons shared with them but selfapplied.

An skill that make an small group of enemies to swap team for few seconds. This could be an elite with long CD but would be fun skill. It wouldn’t be useful while prefight that during the fight this skill should be so much fun. To prevent the Impossible to counter, it should have an icon visible and easily recognisable to others in the status bar. And stop when the affected is downed.

Thief
Thief is another class that has a marginal use inside a group fight, mostly because it’s focus single target combat.

What it makes not so much rewarding when fighting in big groups as the thief can’t get other use than to finish downed or ress players while in stealth.
I think the thief could get an interesting role as to disturb and discourage midless stacking.

A trap that will shadowstep a group of enemies in different directions a hefty distance (900 or so)

An skill can make appear him as a friendy for the enemy team for short(10 seconds for example) duration. This would work exactly as stealth: if he directly damage any enemy player the effect is gone. This can be used to lay traps/steal within the enemy zerg for example.

An PbAoE skill that prevent an enemy group to get new boon application for some duration. This can be a trait and an skill, being a trait single target and an utility skill for group.

Other classes

Other classes could benefit from some kind of target PbAoE condition applications, like:

  • Necro could have an skill/trait that cast a contagion effect on target, so enemies around him would be damage by some condition. A contagious short fear would be so funny.
  • Druid’s Astral wisp could benefit of burning application when it goes thru enemies. Ranger could benefit from small boon ripping/steal with ranged attacks.
  • Engie could benefit from some PbAoE knockbacks (bomb kit, gyro or hammer) + small stability rip (maybe trait with ICD) to secure some landing.

    The idea is to get all the classes that don’t have a defined/useful role right now to get some tools to discourage and dissuade staking, so if a bigger group fight an smaller one, they have the tools to disrupt the staking thus having a opportunity to deal damage without directly buffing or nerfing the system.

- Revevant 50% boon is no longer shared
- Quickness now work like superspeed
- Resistance now work like superspeed
- Max boon duration for all classes is 50%

There you go, without creating new skills that probably wont do anything vs a zerg.

Stacking will not go away because of how support skill delivery is designed, which is mostly pbaoe…

Right now we have conditions and boons countering each other, an overdeveloped 3 system of boon removal is not needed. It doesn’t address the issues with the condition system, nor does it address how most support skills are delivered.

If support skills were designed to be player and group targeted, and had way longer durations, you’d have players and groups working outside of the turtle more. Anyone who played city of heroes would understand what I mean by that.

221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.

remove passive dmg tics from confusion and add in an aoe component. Maybe Dmg to target on skill cast and said dmg again on target and in an aoe around target. Not really sure the game needs more aoe anything atm though.

Not that it would counter peoples claim that full zergs are running 100% uptime on resistance. Must be something limited to t1.

Brilliant. So much this. You would be able to call out the people who fail to ‘pay attention’ to there boons and hexes. Also I loved spiteful spirit, they should definately add a mechanism for punishing people in AoE form for poor play. It would have an affect on zerging even if you don’t believe so.

stacking is fine the issue is that gw2 is ment to be a easy game all u need is aoe and numbers…
Theres alot of aoe in this game…it helps bad players.
