Ok so with the orbs gone people seem they need something to “fight” for. To bring back the orb buffs (if that is what you want) you do something very simple which should have been done in the beginning anyways (if you want hire me).
there are 12 keeps and SM in the middle of EB. You break up the percentage of the buffs. So each keep gives you 10 points in each stat and 1 percent health. Stonemist castle will give 30 points in each stat, and 3 percent health.
This gives you the same 150 stat bonus and 15 percent health that the orbs gave only you can’t fly in and steal them they don’t move. It also fans out the stats for the 3 orbs to 13 keeps/castles which helps break up the large bonus you get with each orb. This way each keep/castle is worth fighting for not just the 3 that have the orbs.
I would also get rid of the outmanned buff (this part optional) and put the bonus into a higher magic find and karma buff. 24 towers you get 1.5 to 2 percent magic find and karma per tower so either 36 percent increase or 48 and I would do the same for supply camps either 1 percent or 0.5 percent increase magic find and karma for a total of 24 percent increase or 12 percent increase. So in the end if you owned “all” towers and camps you would either get 72 percent total increase or 48 if you go either high or low. You could also go high on one and low on the other for different totals. This makes everything “worth” fighting for and holding.

Which would still result in a dominating team a huge advantage. What wwould you fix?

He’s just wanting to eliminate the ability of hackers to change the game. If taking a keep gets you the buffs hackers will at least be more challenged or have to have alot of people helping them.
I still think the WvW buff should be the outmanned buff and the outmanned buff should be the WvW (buff formerly known as orb) buff.
That would be worse than the Orb mechanic because the stats would be skewed to whoever’s winning PPT, and they are already winning PPT. The Orb mechanic itself has the potential to defy PPT / map control and adds a separate layer of strategy.
Why would we find another reason to bring back buffs for one side? Let’s call them rewards instead and focus on a carrot for you folks that need something more to fight for than server pride. :P
Example: Account bound items. Magic find +%. Crafting %.

I agree it doesn’t fix the issue that is only if they wanted the buffs to come back. Many of the people want something to “fight” for so you need to give it to them. Giving a team a large advantage over the other should not be the case so it would need to be more on the side of magic find, extra karma, money stuff like that. If you wanted to give any sort of stat buff it needs to be rather small.
If it were me I would probably give stonemist castle the 30 buff to all stats, 3 percent health and and 3 percent crit damage and thats it for the damage buffs.
For the keeps I would give each keep a chance to gain more money and karma maybe 5 percent per keep or something around that.
Towers I would give the magic find buff again maybe 3 to 5 percent
For each camp you own over 1 I would give Dolyak speed increase by 2 percent or something and more HP and toughness so they are harder to kill. So if you owned lets say 4 camps you would have a 6 percent speed/HP/toughness for the Dolyaks or something (2 percent might be to high but you could do it per map if you wanted and not for all maps).
So something along the lines of that.

I think the idea he had was to give some type of reward as well as the points. I don’t see a problem with that. I don’t care for stat buffs though. Still, in this case, I didn’t think his example was overboard.

The reason I would do this is just for that reason. SM as you said in EB is the major point on that map, and as a major point it should have a nice reward along with a large target on its head. If you are going to be able to hold it you better be ready because the only stat buff in the WvW is this point which will draw large battles from all sides to control. I think it will be hard for one team to keep hold of it as all 3 sides will want it even more than it is now.
Also the 30 stats and 3 percent health and crit damage isn’t going to cause one team to become OP but it is a nice little bump.

It already has a nice reward and a target on its head because it gives the most PPT, and it is already hard to hold it as a virtually automatic 1v2.
ON behalf of the black lion fees are too kitten high party, I can safely say that even someone crafting something worth 3g and selling it most of the time isn’t making too much off that item. It’d be nice to see some profits being made other than being made by the black lion fees, the wealth needs to be spread from the black lion to the players imo.

So maybe as another option for buff/rewards for SM you could make it give a reduced vendor cost on items maybe 10 to 20 percent. For the runes to make the bags and stuff like that. You could put that buff on the keeps or towers or just on SM but I agree a nice buff to reduce some of the crafting costs or any vendor itmes for that matter would be nice.
It might also help bring out some PvE players to help hold some things so they can get lower vendor costs on items.
