As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
while i think breakout is a needed event in non-home borderlands, i rarely see people utilizing briar/lake as a foothold, leading me to wonder if this is even necessary any more.
opinions, community?
Personally, I think the breakout is needed to motivate people to join enemy BL even if it’s all enemy-colored. The breakout gives you a tower ‘at a discount’ or can act as a free distraction while you go somewhere else. Also the free supplies help to jump right into taking things on the map. Siegerazer does not make a huge difference in my mind but I feel like it helps to motivate people to go to maps where their server isn’t already winning.
Lake and Briar is really hard to hold without substantial numbers proportionate to the enemies numbers in the borderland. Particularly lake as this can be trebbed from inside hills. And since chances are if you don’t hold lake your probably not holding hills and the T1 lake wall will go down quick. Breakout events are helpful though and can help you hold a few towers and supply camps for a reasonable amount of time and go run havoc on the northern areas and buy time for defenses for PPT. But thats as far as it goes. If you don’t have substantial numbers in said enemy BL than your not going to hold keeps and certainly not going to hold Lake or Briar for a substantial period of time. But breakout does give you the opportunity to hold these, albeit for a short time.
I have always disaproved of the break out events, especially in the rather simplistic way they are implemented. Reinforced in this believe when the nr1 EU server got a breakout event, on a Thursday, while leading with 150.000 points. Yeah.. they really needed the boost right there…

This is my number one issue with the Breakout Events. When a server is so clearly dominating the competition, they should not be able to start a breakout event anywhere except their own Borderland.
