Really this is stupid and im about to complete freak out!
Isnt it enough to endure such horrible broken designed professions like thief and mesmer that enable even the baddest player to feel like a pro?

Why on earths name do they really have to have THE hardcounter against stomping?
2of3 enemys are already mesmers and thiefs and every time i bring a enemy into downstate and try to stomp him using all my “oh snap” buttons because im outnumbered, some fkkkkkk thief/mesmer shows up to aoe stealth him.

its totally pointless atm to play smallscale because of all the stealth-rezzing even the least-skilled bunch of scrubs is able to survive.

Stealth should not be the strongest hardcounter against stomping!

Stealth ressing is the easiest way to kill the thief or mesmer and any half decent organized group will use that opportunity to kill the downed player and the reviver at the same time

If you have a KB that will go off without a target you can also use that to knock the reviver off the downed player, if you knock the thief out of his refuge you can reveal him. The benefit is most enemies will be right where they were when they go into stealth. Drop a KB, stun, or interrupt right where the downed player was to stop the rezzing. If you don’t have those do your best to DPS the area as hard as you can, most thieves tend to be glassy, good pressure will often drive them off the rez.

If you’re outnumbered and doing these prevent the stomp then switch focus the second they start the stealth rez. Think of it as taking two players out of the fight for a few seconds by just downing one. Be ready for the down and have your next target in your head ready to switch to right away. They likely won’t be ready for it and you’ll have the upper hand on them initially.

I always try to think of how to adapt myself to how things work, that’s something we can change easily. Trying to get the game changed takes a lot more work then adjusting our strategies and tactics.

Easiest way to do it on a thief is to start using Pistol Whip on the location of the reviver. Mostly stealth ends with both of them downed (mostly one dead)

Stealth rezzing is one of the few counters to stability stomps. Blinding fields works as well but are easier to counter. Swing a few times, clear blind, stomp again.

Stealth is countered by direct damage or AoEs. Poison will make rezzing much harder and slower. Burning will do the same. Knock downs, stuns, fears, etcetera work to clear thief or Mesmer off downed player. But what is best is to attack the area where the stealth player is. You hit both players.

I am sure this tactic has been used to save you at least once. If you think it is broken and unfair, attack, break stealth and get spiked. Stand by you objections and become an easy kill.

Also, your comments are false. Bad players on any class are easy kills. Stealth does not mean you are invincible. Thief and Memser class “may” seem easier to play, or more forgiving, but usually aren’t. I personally win more often against thieves than any other class. But I played one for a very long time. So most thieves are easy kill. It is really an learn to play issue. Thieves are very predictable, and are easiest to counter when they are they are in stealth. They are running away, reseting fight, or trying to stab you in the back.

Thief hits you and you use all your utilities, thief is going to reposition and try to finish you off.

Third hits you and you both use your utilities, thief hides to reset fight.

Thief hits you, you dish out a decent amount of damage and don’t burn utilities, thief most likely runs away.

You didnt got it? I talking about beeing outnumbered, secure stomps are the key to win that, but every time we got a player into dowstate and use stability/invul to stomp them some aoe stealt crap is ruining it.

I agree with the OP however I find stealth stomping even more ridiculous. Stomping is really an attack, it should not be allowed from stealth. This applies to thieves and mesmers. In addition there’s a mesmer staff trick where you can teleport away after starting the stop and then blink back into range to finish the stomp — equally as stupid.

Yes, shadow step stomp is fun. Any class that teleports can do something similar. I use teleports to stomp on guardian, usually have stability up at the same time. Thief can be knocked down on return from show step. And you can prevent the stomp this way.

The problem with these stomp loop-holes (especially stealth) is it prevents the use of many downed skills. Example: A mesmer cannot pop the downed Phantasm on you if you’re in stealth because it’s impossible to get a target.

People who say a thief or mesmer is easy mode have likely never played one in the current WvW atmosphere. The warrior and guardian are MUCH easier to play. Playing a thief is great for hitting inexperienced or wounded players. As soon as a group comes along or a decently skilled player, mistakes in those fights often lead to a quick death.

Decent mobility in previously slow classes (Traveler runes), heavy condition builds and AoE dominant group builds make playing a thief or mesmer of any sort a glassy affair that requires skill to play well.

Not really on topic — although I disagree on my Memser which is mostly easy-mode in WvW with stealth, blink, and clones. All difficult mechanics to fight against.

It was to try to help someone who seems to have a hard time with stealth. Knowing what thief will do and why helps counter stealth. What you may not find helpful does not mean other plays won’t.

Don’t speak for everyone.

But in some extent your right. It was off topic.

If you are getting killed by a bad player using a thief, I’m sorry to say this but you aren’t great yourself.

Bad players playing thieves are easy kills because they think they are invincible with their stealth and get confused when you manage to hit them even when they are stealthed or when you are able to predict their movement.
“But he used backstab on me and I died”…that’s a terrible mistake on your part to not move around with a skill bar adapted to fighting a thief when moving around in WvW.

As for an enemy using stealth to rez it’s friend, just keep hitting where they are. And if you are fighting a thief, don’t even bother trying to finish him, just kill him.

It is off topic somewhat but one of the first sentences from the OP was a complaint about how easy it is to play thief/mesmer.

As for mesmer being easy, I still disagree. It is easy to spot a poorly skilled mesmer. It is very difficult to spot a poorly skilled warrior. The learning curve of the heavies is an order of magnitude easier than than other classes. The mesmer has a lot of adaptability in a solo fight but has to play very well when out numbered or against a counter class. The warrior on the other hand can storm a group of players and come out the other side quite alive. Not saying either is over powered just making the point that if someone is going to complain about how “broken” stealthier classes are they should walk a mile.
