the long lost 8 man
I wanted to type this post up a lot better but I’m at work!
Slacker !
I’d like a 8man party size for pvp/wvw, only problem is anet would have to increase the aoe cap from 5 to 8 for buffs and heals and this would give zergs more incentives to keep blobbing
I’d like to see some pro’s/con’s
and other than updating of hit caps for skills… what effects would this change cause?
What game besides DAoC had 8man?

The real question is, what do you do with 8 people in WvW ? (considering you play in tier 1-5)
You can take the first towers of the enemy bl but after that it’s quite complicated to do anything else apart from flipping camps.

Guild Wars 2.
What, we do have 8 man groups. Its just that Anet, in all their wisdom, has decided to only enable it in sPvP.
After all, WvW is only about small scale and not 5+ people battles. Wouldnt want to ruin Anets gamemode. If they actually where to enable it, its just a matter of removing the invite/join limitation. They dont need to do anything with boons. Guilds have already been running 4 man groups instead of 5, 8 man groups would just be 4+4 with 2 buffers and guaranteed buffs.

Some few buff skills already affect more then 5 players. Like warrior wh and pulsing fields. Some aoe also hit way more then 5, like grenades 3×5 and meteor shower 24×5, icebow 4, fgs 5. 8 man should be a realistic increase. With megaservers they announced that they would get increased capacity, so larger groups should be feasible. In dungeons it would allow devs to make much more challenging content, which is what the players have sporadically asked for for quite a while now.

You must be doing something wrong because I can take camps/towers/keeps/SM by myself playing in T1, with 8 people I do it faster.
Camelot Unchained ????

Eny old school MMORPG.
The party sizes where 8-15. depending on the game mode.
But those games had Healers that would need to Target a player to heal him so the bigger the party size the better larger groups would function.
But last 4years they started to use the 5man groups in almost every mmorpg i’ve seen.
i’m assuming that’s due to it being easier to code/design around 5 man content within their system
even though 8 probably allows for greater group quality
I always thought that this game needed an 8 man team for anymode, but the thing is it has to be 1 of each class, that should be interesting to see IMO
10 man dungeon’s with some more intense fight mechanics would be really great
as much as I’d love 8 man I doubt they can make that kind of change

id love to see something like dredge fractal mixed with PvP node system…
3 nodes, gotta hold em for X amount of time while a player does a very long channel to activate doors…. its the ultimate test of teamplay cuz you really need to get it right, or you fail.
Or dungeon bosses with sub-bosses that hit for medium (800-1200) damage but extremely fast, so you have to get rid of them. All while a boss is pounding your team.
I’d simply LOVE this kinda play, sadly i have to agree that it will not happen anytime soon.
8 man groups – it would be a marvellous dream, but a dream non the less.
