I feel like every time I go to the bathroom someone is confirmation biasing me as an afk leecher.
I spent a solid hour last night running supply from camps to keeps to repair walls. It was critically important and should definitely remain as a participation booster.
However, it could get the ruins treatment and only give partial participation time. That is, decay sets in faster if all you’ve been doing is repairing.
theres nothing stoping players repairing walls just coz you dont get paticipation for it you will still repair when its sneeded the diferance is you wouldent just stand there doing nothing but repairing a wall that is constantly being trebed all day long and prety much afking your way to the legendary back item

Yes but there is a key difference between repairing a wall being cata’d or treb’d vs repairing a wall after the enemy has been fought off, ive seen a lot of Pug commanders recently that will run in to get the kills on an enemy and then run off with the zerg and shout, let me know if they return, if it wasn’t for them people repairing, by the time you return the wall / gate could be gone and lord dead, do NOT mix the 2 types of players up, this is why you cannot remove participation for running dollies and or repairing, as these are critical rolls that commanders do not want to par take in.
players have ben repairing walls since the game launched long before there was ever a bar for participation i dont see why you seem to think participation is necacery to get players to do whats needed
i repair walls/gates when i need to and participation dosent cross my mind i do it coz i want my team to win. as for dollys those arent the issuse i couldent care less about participation for that fact i think you should get it for escorting dollys
you seem to be missing the point that we curently have 8 players doing NOTHING but repairing the same wall over and over again and absolutely nothing else for hours now they dopnt fight they dont rev player they dont even defend when we are under attack they are total scumbag leeches who watch you die and dont give a kitten about the team and couldent care less we have zero supply in SM as long as they get there participation

Why can’t we lose pips if we lose tower or keep. That would motivate players little bit.

To be fair, lots of people (even a lot of WvW’ers on most servers) don’t realize there’s more

We could treat everyone as evil robots, but wvw is built on cooperation between players. Some server have a community built on the game mode, fostering a friendly environment for new and old players.
For example, people have now started to go the obsidian sanctum to leech those last rewards when logging off from wvw, rather than staying on a active map. Help your fellow wvw players understand why a full EB map is the wrong place to leech rewards and they might just join in active play or find a outmanned map.

If you die and have to respawn, good, you deserve to be punished for being bad and dying in the first place, don’t die.

The bit about not dying or being afraid for their pixels getting hurt is one of the major complaints about pug pve’rs- as soon as there might be a fight of even numbers you can see them running backwards away from the fight practically before it has even begun, guaranteeing you will lose the fight.
If only they could devise a mechanism to impart negative rewards to those that don’t die because they ran away rather than face the enemy. Call it a ‘cowardice debuff’.:-)

Perhaps then just make it so idling in spawn would drop you to zero after a few minutes and put a debuff on you where you cant gain participation at all for like half an hour. That would stop the people that just like to kill a guard then afk, and wouldnt punish anyone that had to port back for whatever reason.

The only problem with that would be it would screw over roamers even further. And we’ve been screwed more than Paris Hilton already after all the condi buff that have made small scale stuff unpleasant to say the least. Roamers that like to poke at zergs and snipe people, then retreat with a whole blob chasing 1 guy across the map, allowing your zerg to cap their stuff while they waste time chasing you instead of responding. I love doing that to people. A debuff for retreating from blobs would just be the final nail in the coffin for roaming.

This is more reasonable. I mean, if you lost all participation on death that’s basically the end of small scale and fights in general.
All in all I think the current system is fine. People are always going to game the system, best to just leave them be and get on with the game imo.
Edit: that said, the level of salt you’d get for pin sniping would be amazing if you lost all participation on porting to spawn lol ????

Wasn’t being sarcastic, I genuinely liked that comment. It seems that asking someone nicely is a delicacy nowadays though.
Before these rewards no one gave a crap if I took a bio or a short break before coming back to the game.

This already happens each skirmish tick when a server drops from a higher to a lower placement.
