i was wondering why everything in this game gets nerfed but the wars get buffed ? i see people qq’ing about how this is op and that is op . someone told me the person or persons that do the balancing in this game actually play this game and there main is a war and thats why they they got buffed and not nerfed . i dont care if this is true or not i am just upset . who ever does the balancing take a look at these links

Having played a thief for most of my WvW career, when I jump on my mesmer or ele I’m not scared by thieves at all. I know how to deal with them. I’m far more terrified of encountering warriors, the most ridiculously unbalanced class in the game.

Worried about Heartseeker or backstab? Rubbish, 18k killshots and 30k damage chop chains leave it in the shade.

I’d rather fight a Warrior that I can see and react to than a Thief really. As a player who only plays a D/D elementalist (2h staff against walls), I would rather take on ANY class (and can!) than a thief. Can I kill a thief? Yes, but it’s almost as comparable as fighting 3 warriors.

D/D doesn’t have a whole lot of AOE. Does it have some aoe? Yes, the cone of affect can still land pretty well, but it’s hard to land a hit when you’re just spinning in air firing at nothing the entire time while the thief is perma stealthed and healing.

The warrior does a lot of damage because he immobilizes you into place. If you have a blink or good condition removal, it’s fine. Thieves you just have to tank through, it’s almost impossible to chase down a thief in stealth, unless you’re also a thief.

I’ve actually recently found it easier to handle thieves as elementalist after changing my build. Since I’m going scepter/dagger, I can just Ride the Lightning away from thieves, and I only engage thieves when their health is low enough that I can burst them down.

Stealth is still OP. Like seriously, 10 seconds in stealth? That’s pretty bullkitten.

After arguing with an engineer for a while, you begin to realize that he actually enjoys it.

Notice how its never the engineers or necromancers complaining bout how OP other classes are. When was the last time you saw someone complain about how powerful a nerco or engineer was? When you main one of the forgotten classes you get use to fighting against people using superior builds.

The issue isnt specific classes, the issue is specific builds. We all know there are a few builds across the thief, warrior and elementalist class that are simply far superior to anything else in the game. Now you can argue all you want about what is more powerful out of those, but at the end of the day they all need nerfed, there are 8 classes in this game each with several available builds, the ultimate aim should be for players to be able to use not only any class and not feel kittened but to also not be forced to use one of only a few specific builds to compete.

Most classes at the moment have the problem of having one obviously superior build, I would honestly prefer builds to be balanced within each class before they even begin to look balancing all 8 classes against each other.

My only issue with warriors is that you can’t recognize the different build easily. You see a thief running with signet of the assassin you know that once he hits that 900 range he’s doing CnD and hitting F1 followed by a backstab.
However unless a warrior is running around with a rifle/bow it’s pretty kitten tough to know what the hell he’s up to.

What I love about these kinds of posts is people complaining about rather running into a warrior than a thief.
– Volley is insane it will follow you into stealth and can hit for 10k.
– Kill shot is incredibly good in a zerg (15-20k hitting 3 targets whuuuuut). Sure it can be dodged but do you keep an eye on every single one of the people throwing kitten at you?
– Heavy armor, 20k HP as glass cannon a 5s invulnerability AND decent mobility (GS #3 IF target far away is possible #5, switch to Sword/Horn #2 followed by #4). A proper 100b warrior (who missed his 100b or whatever) will be able to outrun a LOT of classes.
– Viable weaponset options.. I mean really they can pretty much use anything and own. GS/Hammer/Mace-Shield/Sword-Sword/Sword-Axe/Axe-Axe/Rifle/Bow they’re all useful in some respect. What do thieves have? That’s right 3 viable options…

What I’m trying to say is Thieves are basically one of 2 things.. Cond build or Burst build. Both can be distinguished rather easy by looking at buffs or weapon set.

Isn’t it odd that warriors do more ranged damage than…RANGERS? Screw wasting supply on building a ballista in WvW when you can have 10 kill shot rangers pick off full health enemies like flies. Warriors have the toughest armor, high health, amazing mobility, the highest melee and ranged burst damage, and now they are more deadly than siege! But not to worry folks, their lack of awesome utility skills makes them a balanced class.

I really love how they always say, if you have a condition removal or a stun break for warriors they are easy. Do you guys not think the warrior is aware of that? Its so ironic that even supposed* hardcore pro’s think its easy to evade bullcharge, bola 100 blades, or kill shot, when they fact is a pro warrior himself will be watching or baiting the dodge rolls AND condition removals with bleed or vulnerabilities…

Warriors have the highest burst bar thieves, that have the easiest means of execution (to do on a player). This means the highest dead zone of any class , whereby deadzone is a hp % you can have before you are in insta kill range. If anyone cannot see the advantage of that, then you are a bad pvp’er.

AWWW poor thieves someone is dealing as much damage as them. I think it’s states enough that most people rather fight a warrior than a thief….I’ve actually have had been hit by a warrior harder than any other class, but they are one of the easiest classes for me to kill; they lack the massive mobility of the thief..and best of all…no invis…

You dodge the warriors big attack or get retaliation/invul/aegis/protection and you’re done with it for a few seconds…you dodge thieves back stab? he’ll go again, and again, and again, and again…and if you manage to actually win a fight against a thief he’ll just stealth and run away laughing with 5% hp. One of the most frustrating things I have done is fight a thief 1v1 5 times in WvW, everytime I actually “win” and get him down to less than 10% he ran away only to come back 30 seconds later with everything up and fight me again until he got a good opening with 2 crit backstabs and got me down on the 5th time.

Never happened to be with the warrior..warriors can kill me but I can kill them too so it’s all fair. And how about some videos of thieves killing ele’s/necros before they can even react? oh rightt….thieves are supposed to one shot squishies -.-

Seriously thieves need a nerf bat at the very least to the stealth, you can’t have a player in stealth 80% of the time you fight them on top of doing 15k damage in under 1 second, a bit of a problem here folks.
Warriors seem fine to me.

You can’t nerf the stealth of a Thief more than it is now or else you destroy the entire mechanic of the class. It’d be no different than if you made all the toolbelt skills on an Engineer 5 minute cooldowns and static regardless of the kit they had equipped. It’d ruin the class completely. Or how about 20 second cooldowns on all the Elementalist’s mode swaps? Yeah, they could “still” kill stuff and swap elements, but really, the class would turn into a pile of garbage.

The Thief HAS to stealth or they die. Unlike other classes I don’t get any nice stuns or knockdowns and I sure as hell don’t get 1200 meter dashes or skills that make me invulnerable to damage for 5 seconds or give me stability. Even when I stealth, if the player is good, they WILL not only hit me, but if I’m not on my game they will KILL ME. If I mess up even in the slightest and go low on Initiative, I can have a hard time getting away or surviving.

And fighting a Thief that’s in stealth 80% of the time is easy as it gets. If he’s in Stealth that much, he’s not doing damage to you. CnD has been nerfed and if you keep distance from them, Backstab isn’t much of a threat either. You know what to expect from them, so stop falling for the same simple tricks. The Thief is pigeonholed into either D/D Backstab Burst build or P/D Condition Build. One is a glass cannon 13k HP wonder, the other is a slow killing, half tank built to fight you all day. If Anet nerfs the Thief any more than they have without compensating them, everybody will just roll Warriors or Elementalists and really screw you over. Three 100B Roaming Warriors are even more dangerous than a Thief. Sure you’ll dodge one bull’s charge and eat another, or another. Wouldn’t that be fun!?

You’re gonna find people who have found (or read about) builds that are powerful. But they have weaknesses.

That warrior you saw hacking you with a 30K fast combo? Watch him get murdered right afterward by the people you roll with (hopefully you roll in a group in WvW!). He’s easy to knock down, and once he’s knocked down your buddies (remember the ones you hopefully roll with?) will finish him off while getting you back up.

The ones to REALLY worry about are the ones that are just hard to kill. A good thief is hard to kill because he moves in and out of stealth. A good mesmer is hard to kill because they can makes clones and illusions until you kill them for good.

If you watched the video in the first link you would see that a warrior can easily one shot from a range of 1200. In Zerg fights you won’t even know what hit you. But 20k crits will pretty much kill anyone. It takes so much skill to press f1 and have a homing 1shot crit. That’s the definition of balance for this game. At least make it have a maximum of critting up to 90% of a persons health so they can dodge roll once they know they are being sniped.

Are you clairvoyant? Because I’m pretty sure you can’t tell if you are being sniped in a massive Zerg. A one shot kill from that range isn’t counterable unless you’re aware, and no player is good enough to keep track of 50 different players actions at a time.

Okay, look here. I play warrior. Its been my main since beta and its remained my favorite class to play. People who QQ about 100b or “30k chop chains” listen here:
100b requires the warrior to land a cc. Bring a stun breaker. And condition removal, because we have a lot of ways to immobilize you.
These “30k chop chains” also reduce warrior mobility. In fact on the third attack of the axe auto, the warrior strikes 3 times and can’t use another skill during those swings.
The warrior can be seen as “overpowered” but he can be one of the most easily countered classes in the game. What makes them amazing is that they have so much utility and so many different paths on weapons they can go… People need to learn to find ways to counter classes, and stop QQ’ing that they are OP, when they really aren’t. Imo fighting something I can’t see is OP. But I stopped whining about that a while ago. I looked up thief build guides, figured out what was killing me, and devised ways to counter it.

Furthermore, Whiskey and Mere, that 19k crit in the video that he got there at the start… Its against a thief who isn’t even level 80. The poor kid doesn’t even have exotics lol! The 2nd crit, the 20k, also against a squishy who is not max level.
Also, look at this warrior’s hp. 18k?!! He’s running full berserkers. While his damage in a zerg is exceptional… He isn’t as mobile as a warrior should be, his hp is way to low, he put all his utilities into adrenaline, and he’s playing against kitten players. Literally. Dude skip to 4:50 in the video. The thief came up to get him and put some decent damage, then left to res his buddy, only to get downed right next to him. lol.
Against the level 80s with exotics he was critting what I crit for, 10k. Warriors aren’t OP.

I dont care if the enemy isnt in full exotics, anything that hits for 20K needs a MASSIVE nerf.
Warriors are durable, versatile and hit the hardest of any class in the game, luckily I can see them unlike the thief but that doesnt mean they are balanced whatsoever.

This last round of fixes were really a travesty, warriors didnt get balanced at all and thieves didnt get nerfed where it mattered (backstab +culling issue) but eles, engineers and rangers all got screwed pretty hard and lets not forget the most bugged class in the game not even getting simple fixes to its plethora of bugged skills/traits (necros).
The mesmer nerf was ok except they kittened up and introduced a new bug so that the berserker cant hit for kitten on its first run (and lets face it, thats how long they live).

Seriously Anet, hire some more people for this and start to do some sensible patches instead of this crap.

choose your game style.

Look at this from both sides. If Anet nerfed warriors so that they couldn’t hit for “20k” against a level, say, 20 with masterwork gear, that would also nerf their damage against level 80s with full exotics. Does that sound fair to the warrior players?
No, it doesn’t. Now, what Anet COULD do is give those players below level 80 exotic stats, at the very least, defensive wise.
Warriors do hit hard. We can be extremely mobile. We can be very durable. But all our “hard hits” can easily be countered by good players.

Nerf Backstab damage by 50% My goodness. Okay fine, I’ll let them take 50% of it’s damage if it still does max damage from the front, costs no initiative to use and doesn’t require Stealth just like Rogue’s Backstab in WoW. How about that? You’re whining and crying about something YOU have total control of. YOU decide to show your back to the Thief when you KNOW already he’s got one move he’s trying to hit you with, the only move he has that will hit anybody in decent gear for 6~9K. Hitting a glass cannon for 15k is one of those “one in a million shots in a Thief montage video” hits. What you never see in that video is the ten seconds after that nice finish where the Thief gets ran over by a zerg of 30 people and gets blown over like a tree in a hurricane.

You can’t take away the ONLY kitten thing the Thief has going for them Burst Damage. Stealth is just a way to set up that burst and run away. It’s here to stay just as much as the “downed” state. If they get rid of or tweak anything more with the mechanics of the class, it’ll turn them into nothing more than cannon fodder for people that don’t know how to play the kitten game.

Nsidiously iNsane has the right idea: learn to play the class and exploit their weaknesses. For Thief? 13k Health is their weakness. Exploit it. Dot them up, AoE when they stealth, save your cooldowns. If they have 18k or more Health, they’re not bursty enough to 2 or 3 shot you and are probably just going for survivability over big damage. Exploit it, drag the fight out rather than trying to burst. Create distance between you and the Thief when he stealths. If he’s ranged watch which direction he’s going when he hits you with CnD (or dodge the CnD) and roll in that direction and swing as the air. If he rolled the same way you’ll be hitting him and take away some of his range, if not, get ready to dodge the stealth attack next. Stealth is only 4 seconds if they trait it so outlast that and deny them the stealth attacks by dodging.

It’s all in playstyle and a little bit of knowing the class. The stealth helps them play mind games with you which most people can’t handle. It’s like playing Poker and sometimes you guess right and sometimes you guess wrong, but regardless of the outcome, you both learn something. How to take what you’ve learned and apply it to future fights is entirely up to you.

The fact that you’re forcing us to roll thief in order to beat a thief is already saying something about the class. How come I can fight fine against any other class without first rolling that class?

Revealed debuff should be applied upon stealth ending, regardless of whether the player attacked or not.

Am I the only person more irritated by ele’s instant mist walk back in to towers than anything else? Theives, yeah sure, irritating, stealth is a bit much, but you can deal with it in the right spec and weapon set. Warriors, well I am a warrior, havent used greatsword since the game started, didnt like it, too one trick pony, 100b being so immobile killed it for me, honestly, its rare to get someone in a full 100b attack. I have been sword/sword condition and now I alter between shouts healing tank mace/sheild and sword/horn or crit half tankish axe/sheild for stacking vuln. The two specs there have no issues with any class, necros maybe on the healing shouts build as poisons mess me up good, but otherwise, a good theif can keep away from me as my damage is low and keep coming back, its a long pointless fight though.

Overall, I think warriors and rangers are the two most balanced classes, even though I feel pets along with spirit weapons and illusions should have a range limit. Mesmers are fine, maybe a tad too many illusions, but thats their thing, ele’s are fine, apart from meteor hitting too high in my opinion, guardians are fine, they could maybe do with a bit more definition between dps and tank builds, engineers can be amazingly hard 1vs1, but otherwise, could do with a good looking at for a buff, theives, work on stealth a tad, maybe making the duration between stealths a tiny bit longer, so its an escape, not a method of fighting and necro is fine, in fact condition necros are awesome.

Oh, might as well add my other pet hate, please add diminishing returns on immob’s. thanks.

It’s not a nerf Thief need but a balance in the mecanic. How can a Thief keep invis more than 10s ? You fight invisible guys 95% of the fight time.

Stealth shouldn’t exceed 5s.

And for the warrior’s 100b, just dodge, really not hard.

Theives, yeah sure, irritating, stealth is a bit much, but you can deal with it in the right spec and weapon set. Warriors, well I am a warrior, havent used greatsword since the game started, didnt like it, too one trick pony, 100b being so immobile killed it for me, honestly, its rare to get someone in a full 100b attack. I have been sword/sword condition and now I alter between shouts healing tank mace/sheild and sword/horn or crit half tankish axe/sheild for stacking vuln. The two specs there have no issues with any class, necros maybe on the healing shouts build as poisons mess me up good, but otherwise, a good theif can keep away from me as my damage is low and keep coming back, its a long pointless fight though.

Overall, I think warriors and rangers are the two most balanced classes, even though I feel pets along with spirit weapons and illusions should have a range limit. Mesmers are fine, maybe a tad too many illusions, but thats their thing, ele’s are fine, apart from meteor hitting too high in my opinion, guardians are fine, they could maybe do with a bit more definition between dps and tank builds, engineers can be amazingly hard 1vs1, but otherwise, could do with a good looking at for a buff, theives, work on stealth a tad, maybe making the duration between stealths a tiny bit longer, so its an escape, not a method of fighting and necro is fine, in fact condition necros are awesome.

Oh, might as well add my other pet hate, please add diminishing returns on immob’s. thanks.

The problem with the Thief is that you need a specific build just to counter it, I don’t need to change build to counter any other class in the game, the time a BS Thief takes to kill any other class in the game doesn’t even give time to react that’s how fast it is… hooo you survived the BS combo? Get ready to HS spam lol

I can stay in stealth up to 10 seconds if you let me (i.e. sit there with your thumb up your azz) sit in a 60 second cooldown Shadow Refuge. You know you can just knock me out of it, knock me down in it, kill me inside it with AoE even if you can’t see me? What part of this whole Thief thing do people just not understand? They HAVE to be in and out of stealth for 95% of the fight or THEY DIE! Think about it for a second. How many times have you killed a Thief? And out of all the times you’ve killed them, what was a big factor in it? Keeping them out of stealth. If you deny them their stealth, they die very, very quickly.

I mean come on, it lasts 4 seconds assuming the Thief doesn’t attack. If we’re sitting in Shadow Refuge letting stealth stack us to 10 seconds, in general it’s because we just about got out azz handed to us and we’re getting ready to book out of the fight to reset it. You can see where I dropped the house, so here’s a tip, run the other direction. We don’t move very fast in stealth and if you take off, you’ll get away from us. I know I’m not chasing after some guy when I’m sitting at 1500 health left, I’m letting my stealth stack, booking it far enough to get out of combat and heal to full before I do anything else.

The problem is once again, and I hate repeating it, is that people find a reason to blame the game and not themselves when they LOSE to a class. There’s not one class forum here where somebody isn’t whining about a class beating their azz and how that class should be nerfed. No your brain needs to be nerfed because you’re failing to use it in a video game. Nobody can counter every class, everytime. Backstab Thieves have a quick opening that you can see coming into 900 range, can be blocked, dodged, immuned or even stunned/knockbacked, whether you see them or not after the steal. Don’t show the Thief your back and he can’t stab it for good damage. One dodge away from the direction the Thief came from will negate their entire move. It’s the same way good players could deny Rogues their Ambush or Backstab in Arena in World of Warcraft: skill.

But of course arguing here is as pointless as anywhere else on the internet. Bottom line is people get upset when they lose to a class, no matter what weaknesses they have or strengths, they just see black or white, win or lose. I never see anybody coming here to complain that they WON against a Thief though reading the forums clearly shows many a good player winning against them all the time. Why doesn’t everybody?

I have a warrior and a thief at 80 right now.
Both excel differently, thiefs have to work a little harder to get the big hits, however they have way more consistent control with stealth.
Warriors are better for big easy numbers however I feel they are easier to counter, what makes them really tough to melt down atm is godmode stance and shield block can give them long periods of time taking no damage, however most warrior are running gib builds, they blow cd’s and hope for the easy kill, then blow two more to get outta the fray, outside of these timers they are pretty weak.
Thief can avoid damage with stealth, and more often.
As a thief I just focus on stragglers, also run with a ele or guardian with a bunker build and just start killing people attacking them, seems as soon as ya stealth they go right back after the bunker player leaving themselves open for another assault.

i was wondering why everything in this game gets nerfed but the wars get buffed ? i see people qq’ing about how this is op and that is op . someone told me the person or persons that do the balancing in this game actually play this game and there main is a war and thats why they they got buffed and not nerfed . i dont care if this is true or not i am just upset . who ever does the balancing take a look at these links

I am pretty sure that there is a team doing the balancing and not just one person. So the idea of them playing favorites to one class is pretty silly.

The video was captured pre patch. The ultra high killshots were caused by the piercing bug which has already been fixed.

So, whoever does the balancing of this game: thanks for fixing this issue!
