Yup, the new system sucks. Will be stopping playing unless it’s changed. Anet are unlikely to admit they wasted time and money on this kitten though.

There were fights, we defended air keep against a (much) larger group and even did some dolly running to speed up the T3 on the keeps.

In t3 the only times i see people in the bls. A zerg is rolling theough taking everything they can before they move on. Or one server owns so much of eb that they move onto the bls put of boredom.
I have yet to see anyone leading go to the bls as a first choice or because they want to.

What makes you think the old wvw was not losing ppl too? What going on is pve players simply do not need to play wvw for there end game content any more. Not to say ppl like the new maps they do have problems but they can be fixed in time the wp move is a good start. The thing is old bl with the old upgrading system had a lot of flaws to them we as players simply got use to these flaws but that dose not mean we like them. A keep simply is flipped and you must start over you must encore yaks to upgrade and by any continent play could hard counter any type of def of these yaks. We are talking about ppl putting a lot of work into something that means nothing and by doing so burning out some of the best players out there.
The old maps where made for krama training the new maps are not. The old maps where made for high loot from taking easy to flip objects that where pointless to hold and more then often tolled in such a way due to the upgrade system that they where not worth trying to put work into nor where you able to unless it was simply ignored altogether.

Yes at the start of wvw and the week but beyond reset ppl gave up holding keeps for wp due to how easy night flipping was. Your epic keep battles tend to end when one side went to sleep and the other side had ppl to say up. Only a T3 keep was a real threat and was worth defing something that did not happen a lot or when it did it was simply becuse ppl ignored the keep altogether. Roamers purpose is just that roaming they do not need to be with a group to give them purpose in a lot of ways its “fun” for them. If they wanted a true purpose they would scout out fights and contest keeps and gack ppl trying to return to the “front lines” of battle.
What your talking about is killing yaks…. it was helpful but a lot of ppl did not do this nor was it fun for them. It was as much fun as escorting the yaks.

Ummm no. Sorry but you are simply wrong. Maybe you only zerg, or maybe your tier is the exception but from my experience in every tier from silver down through bronze, roamers were constantly skirmishing on the bl’s.
I wasn’t some little helper monkey for the zerg. I was usually the catalyst that caused the massive fights in the bl’s. I would often spend hours prepping a bl by starving keeps, capping a corner of the map and upgrading it, constantly tapping their wp’s so the defenders grew accustomed to it and were slow to respond, prepping the cannons and oil on the keeps, draining supply from a keep by hitting multiple walls with a g cata, and causing a distraction by hitting another keep (causing the defenders to split) once the zerg moved onto the map to take the first prepped keep.
It was the defenders job to stop me from doing this while they tried to upgrade their bl.
Now everything is on auto pilot and no one cares about it. Wp’s don’t matter. G cata and supply change + no one on the map upgrading/defending makes taking anything pointless and boring.
The only options left are to PvD at a an extremely slow rate, join the k-train, or quit playing. This is what they have done to roamers with there terrible changes.

The borderlands are fine IMO, I don’t want the old borders; which were more easier to k-train faster. They need slow down the silly automatic upgrades or make it so a human being has to trigger certain upgrades and NO waypoints should be open in a T0 keep.

They just need better server or internet code, increase the population limit on the new bl and merge the servers in 3 alliances.
I would have preferred a system with 4 different maps, EBG, EotM (with PPT scoring), Alpine Bl, Desert Bl. But it seem that is just too complicated for them and that the most they can do is have their artist make a new map and throw it in there regardless of the consequences in empty tiers.

It baffles me when people say that the new desert BL “breaks up the karma train” or some such. If you want to flip undefended objectives, the new maps are by far the best place to do it. They’d be the best place to do it even if they were full – more paths means you can avoid enemies, longer reinforce times makes saving them harder, and more attack points on each objective (and spaced farther apart too) means that it’s harder to effectively siege up even a tower, let alone one of these giant keeps.
By contrast, EB funnels everyone into the middle of the map, and whoever takes SMC invites a 2v1. Not to mention EB actually has people on it who will fight you. Anyone who just wants to ktrain is gonna go to the new maps, not EB.
It’ s disrespectful towards all wvw players that invested both time and money into the game since launch not showing even the slightest interest . WvW as it is now is a major fail and it doesn’t matter what ever the reason for it is. Just admit that is’t all a major failure, give us the old homeborders back and scrap the desert maps completely.
Some mistakes we can live with, and forgive, but just look at the current polulation and get your heads out of the sand before people really start to leave.
Keep the new maps and improve them, but give us back the old maps aswell, or at least one and perhaps modify it to act eb-esque.
The Desert maps are good, they just have a few minor things that make them very undesirable to alot of people. Like for me my personal issues are:
-Alot of the keeps are impossible to defend.
-Cannon placement is just terrible. There’s no point in even taking them down in alot of the keeps since there are jarring blind spots (golemn keep anyone?).
-It’s impossible to traverse the map and get to something that’s under attack in time if more than 5 enemies are attacking it…..especially when gates and walls are so squishy.
-No wAYPOINTS WHERE YOU NEED THEM! Make the fire and bird keep provide waypoints when fully upgraded….it’s not that hard!
-I wiped a group of 3-4 who entered our tower at the keep lord. By the time I walked from the lord to the gate and repaired it once (with wall repair maxed)…they were already at the doorstep ready to go at it again….they just came back like nuthin happend
-The lords are better than eternal obviously but they are weak nonetheless. Probably just because (they tank alot less) against 2+ enemies….a mesmer can easily solo them with illusions. Most classes can solo alot of them (but not all) since most are quite stupid and they are all melee equipped. People won’t share that opinion which is fine. I totally accept that lords are meant to be mincemeat, but I can dream!
The new maps are pretty much just barren wastelands. Where if someone feels like it they will get a group of 3-4+ people together…do skyplitter and then tag the entire map without any resistance. The fact skyplitter is every hour on one of the maps is stupid imo. Get a zerg and jump from 1 map the next. They were great for roamers at first. Now I just find them frustrating since the game consistently reminds you that there is no point in defending against a zerg. ANd makes it as hard as possible for you to try….the supply refill spots in some towers and keeps makes me sick (stupidly far away from where u need them to be). Especially with skysplitter and how slow and long it takes to repair walls (even with the abilitity upgrades maxed like I have)….much less how much supply it takes. WHy bother repairing anything? You can’t defend it anyways.

^this, the problem are the mechanics that went to much auto or a very weird way, by the other hand Anet needs more players to play the BL so they can check the data recorded.
About gliding, Air tower/castle should allow guild members to take a boon to glide for X time (avoid landing directly inside lord of other towers).
