got laggy connection but heres my settings for zergs

Character model options have the biggest impact for me. I usually set character model limit anywhere from med and up depending on server and time I’m on, the lower you go the more players will seem missing, but you will still see their names.
I set character model quality down to low which shows full models close around you, or lowest which gives everyone the generic model look, but saves a lot on performance. Also my shadows are low or off.
Would be nice if they had separate auto settings for wvw and pve areas.

There was a thread on reddit discussing the game graphic settings that I’m unable to find right now. It listed which settings were safe to max out without dropping FPS and which not. In addition to setting character models and numbers to low, turn off all reflections and post-processing. IIRC you could have shadows maxed but shaders low. Really don’t remember the rest of the post, sorry.
All GW2 maps have a water “base” and supposedly the game will render reflections for it even if there is no water actually shown.

I set mine to potato. In big fights I get 4 fps. Intel graphics ftw

They kinda do, well for me at least, for wvw I just select best performance, then when back in pve I set best appearance, it’s a quick and easy switch.
This depends on what yout system is.
I rarely see lag unless I am in SMC lord during a 3 zerg match in T1 .
And I play on a mf surface pro 3…mostly set to low/med . My lowest fps is usually around 14 and that’s high zerg fest time. Completely playable.
Issue is less of game lag then zerg vs zerg skill lag which I believe is server caused.
Personally if the fights are 35-40+ I turn all my graphics to the lowest settings. But that only works to keep me from lagging half the time. Fairly certain the skill laag alot of peeps felt last week in EBG was server side though.
Turn down the character model settings and you should be fine. My computer is very old (7 years) and it usually doesn’t have that much trouble. I’ve even tried recording in the middle of the nonsense at 20ish fps, lol.
It seems to be taxing more on the cpu than the graphics, really.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

I think this is the link Chaba is referring to on reddit;

Thanks Seeker! That may be the one.
This comment specifically was helpful to me:

It mentions Shadows being a big FPS hog.
@Mylerian, you can tell when it is a CPU/GPU issue when you’re getting slideshow frame rates. When skills don’t activate, that’s usually server-side lag. The options UI (F11) will display FPS.

change the “Frame Limiter” to unlimited and check the sync refresh rate/monitor its the last box.
the frame limiter does a poor job at lowering the fps and drops a lot of frames. while the sync refresh rate will not let you pass 60 fps or depending on your monitor (most are 60hz)
at the end of the day, its “almost” the same thing but sync works a lot better.
Depends on your PC. If you have anything near a GTX 970 and Intel i5 you can run max graphics with no issues.
