What we fight for? If we lose the keeps and towers, we lose nothing. We still have money, my armor and weapons.

I think we might add some goals to do wvw. In my opinion, I would add some rule like if our world lose a fight this week, we might pay more gold to buy stuff. Something like that. Getting boosts feel nothing. Or if we win a fight this week, we will get some special items or some titles or anything. I think we need a gold to do wvw.
by the way, I even cannot know who kills me in the wvw. because that doesn’t show the name but titles. I think we might let ppl know who kill them in wvw. It will be fun.

I play WvW for fun, because I enjoy fighting and killing people.
Giving disavantages to the losers in a unfair gamemode that plays 24/7 is one of the worst sugestions I ever heard.
Giving too much stuff to winners is also bad. Remember that WvW is unfair at it’s core design. It would make it only even more unfair with people stacking in the winner servers. That’s why rewards in WvW should be given for the acomplishments of the player itself, not the server. Reward tracks are a good example of this.
Showing names will only create more toxicity and salt. People will whisper each other for the smallest things. You can already identify people by other means. And if you really wanna know the name of someone from the enemy server, just right click him and block. The name will show up in the blocklist.

Same as Imperdigao, I just play for the fun and in my case acting like an idiot trying to fight a zerg with my minion master for example.

I had the most fun in wvw over the years hanging with friends and just messing around in wvw, but those days are long gone unfortunately due to lots quitting on my friends list so I just like to scout, roam, and siege troll pugs.

well the gamemode is dying because of imper and others holding those viewpoints. its stuck when u cant add anything of value. it hurts more when u take content out.

u cant expect anything to change or get better when u hold the mode to a Run and gun jump in jump out freeforall. we literally have 6 borderlands divided between 2 modes….and for some reason they all have to play the same way, which is a really dumb design at this point. but people exist who dont want to learn new things or change the easy-in easy-out mechanics we have now, so were all crewed. the mode is only killing itself with this lack of identity and catoring to 2 opposing groups of players. and there is no energy to redesign at this point….so were all stuck.

-wargamers have to find new ways to play to keep it interesting.
-casuals have to deal with being unable to shape or really matter in the mode, they are joining zergs and relishing in whatever victories are given to them, or running around solo learning and having fun……once they learn enough tho they turn into wargamers. and once wargamers get bored they leave. new players join in to keep this cycle afloat..but i mean why are people leaving? its cause concerns like the op are not being acted on to retain the interest of wargamers.

i mean its fun to plan a week with ur servers and guilds and coordinate contributions and stuff…..its like having a giant weeklong raid. wargamers plan, guilds commit to times, casuals jump in and give what they can……everyone is happy. wargamers have no reason to do this anymore now since there is no raid reward at the end of it….so the overall sense of community and things to do is low.

the solutions are easy to see and implement but the refusal to adjust things is keeping the ship sinking

Any of the veterans like myself who continue to WvW do it for the fun and the family.

We enjoy the excitement, not the rewards. We enjoy the victory, not the win. We enjoy the memory, not the trophy.

WvW is about friends, not loot.

PvE provides plenty of what you’re looking for in material gain. Changing WvW from what it is will only alienate the population causing the ones that hold it together to leave. If the benefits were too great for winning and the punishment too much for losing, everyone would transfer to one server and WvW would be no more. Yes, people already bandwagon to the winning server, but only the ones like yourself who care more about the number on the scoreboard than the time you’re spending with people you care about.

I apologize if that sounds condescending because it isn’t wrong of you, or anyone else, to prefer XP, loot and winning. It is a game after all and those things are often big parts of other games.

As far as I’m aware, the core of WvW, the players who are there day in and day out, the ones that keep that world turning, they, we, don’t care about anything but our friends and our fun. We don’t want WvW to be changed in the way that you’re asking so I can’t see you getting much support on it.

P.s. “What do we fight for?” We fight because we can.

I would go so far as to say that rewards for losing should be greater than those for winning.

  • The winners already have their bragging rights and kudos.
  • The losers need a boost (but not so much that someone could take the boost then transfer to the winning server for next match OR could spend all week winning then transfer to the low server for reward – yes, people would do these things).
Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

It’s the only real endgame material in the game!

Unless you want to farm and grind for legendaries, in a game in which they promised no farming or grinding.

Complained about WvW before it became cool.

I just want them to put up a good leaderboard (that we can sort based on field) based on player first. (possibly grown it if it succeeds to guilds but haven’t thought that far)

Something that says top k:d ratio, tower/keep captures (participated in), supply used to repair structures, camp captures, hours played … things like that. Something to help head hunt good players for certain roles.

Call it the Herald of the Mists or something cheesy. All stats refresh each week matchup so it’s based on current data – not some historic data about a guy who killed thousands years ago.

Also exclude Edge of the Mists – only include participation from the maps that provide warscore

Between a certain extinct dodo, an Anet team in tow leading around pve/pvp players (all of which trample over a lost and confused wvw player base), and the attention wvw seeks and so desperately needed (and is late), this scene is pretty spot on when you think about who is what role in this endless running in a circles. I would like to see a leaderboard for this, and I think the historical data for this will not have been saved by arenanet anyway unfortunately. But of course I also would be interested to see where I stand on those overall (sm caps, kills, deaths, times played).

The best thing would be if it would be a tab in your guild as well to see a ranking in the guild so it could become an ongoing competition in wvw guilds.

I think the first thing that should be implemented is a “serverwide” statistic though, because this is how we play in this mode and to avoid it being a headhunting tool in the first place.

I like how the WvW is setup but I’ve always thought the best pvp game I ever played was one many years ago (I believe it’s still around) but only because of the risk/reward of it. The game itself wasn’t great but when you went in the ‘wild’ you could lose weapons/armor/inventory. If you weren’t careful you would respawn only with your birthday suit on after being killed.

Back in the day (before I gave up the drinking) I’d put on some music, toss a 12 pack in the cooler and head solo into the ‘wild’ and get my pvp on. Groups were great too if you were in some sort of chat (like ts).

Getting back to the topic, I don’t think that can be added here but I wish there was some way to create an area where the serious minded pvp players can go and risk everything to potentially walk away with great rewards. You haven’t pvp’d until you pvp like that.
