Will we be able to get this back item this Halloween again? I do hope so, and as a skin this time.. It’s one of the best backpieces in GW2. PLS!!!

I also enjoyed doing the quest to get this… Very fond memories..

I really hope so, it is a nice back item. I didn’t do it more than once as I was strapped more for time last year, so this year I hope to get it on a more fitting character

it might not show up, the way to get the mad memoires last year was to find out what was going on with he mad king to find out what was going on (he hadnt been seen in 200 years so presumed a myth)

I actually hope we get to continue the hunt to append and upgrade it to rare level this year, and in a couple more years to make it ascended.

I hope so too, I was able to get it on my main, and just barely on one my my alts, but none of my other alts were even remotely close to being able to get it when it came out.

I hope we can get it again too, just because returning content for holidays is good.

But I doubt it.

@Heinel: I doubt we’d be able to expand it unless we start investigating Thorn’s post-mortem life. After all, last year’s was from childhood to death. We may get a Prince Edition though.

I actually hope not. I’m hoping that every year we’ll get a new skin of some sort that memorializes that year (like in GW1). Don’t get me wrong, I really like the skin, but I want new material for the most iconic time of the year for GW.

I do hope it comes back, actually. I made the mistake of deleting the plain version instead of storing it in my PvP locker, so I’d like to be able to pick it up again.

And all the times I remember that I just Destroyed this thing due to make more space on my bags, all it feels like a dumb.

I would like if a difrent back would be added this year.

From the screenshots it looks like the portals and clocktower are coming back, so maybe there’s some chance for that.

Maybe they’ll let us finish off the quest if we already have them started. I still have the precursors somewhere…

I hope that we can complete the quest chain again. I accidentally deleted the item earlier this year while cleaning my bank. Support wouldn’t revert and give it back to me.

They better let people get them again.

There’s many back items now. So you don’t see them around anymore. Exclusive limited items are always acquired by the same guys, who replace them after a while with new exclusive stuff, and then no one sees the stuff around.

The only limitation items should have is in time. “Get it now or you may have to wait a lot to get it again”. But they never should be “once in a lifetime” stuff.

Even if it’s after 7 years like GW1’s festival hats, everything should eventually come back.

And to everyone saying “this game has too many back items”: no it doesn’t. Most back items where temporary and can’t be obtained anymore so they don’t count.

I’d like to see them move the book in the direction of the zenith, hellfire/radiant skins.
(As in a reusable skin)

I love the look of the book. The game was so ‘new’ last halloween I had no idea that I was putting the book onto a character I’d rarely play once I tried some of the other professions.

I’d really like to aquire more skins but they are just not user friendly at all especially with most of the ‘event’ skins being backpieces.

I’d really love for this to come back. I’d also really enjoy the skins to be done the same way as the Hellfire/Radiant/Zephyr skins. I mean, once off makes it hard for me to decide which character I want it on. The Slickpack? Well, I want to put it on an Engi if I eventually get there. Unfortunately that won’t be soon. Now I have this thing rotting in my inventory. The Fused Gauntlets? They should’ve been made skins. I took heavy. Big mistake. Now I’m stuck with the gauntlets and I’d love to get a skinnable version for my Elementalist. I mean.. I have the achievement. Doesn’t that mean I’ve deserved the skin?

I vote they make the old versions tradeable, so the copies I still have in my mail from last year(because I don’t see the appeal of wearing a book on your back) can be turned into gold to buy something actually useful.

I’d hope for the same skin with different coloured flames, like the SAB skins. It’d be nice if the original could be a memento of the first halloween, without stopping people being able to get the look.

Or another, equally cool skin each year. That’s good too

It was only a trip to various sites for lore so I see no reason for new players to miss out on it. Additionally I think it would be good if Arena Net would expand on this and add another tier with new lore, new book and a new adventure.

Personally mine has been in my bank since I obtained them, not my style.

That’s a very good idea..

I also like the idea of different colored versions.. to reflect maybe the Mad queen or the prince or something… I just hope they bring the backpiece back..

I like the idea of seeing someone with an item and knowing they were around for a specific halloween or other event (karka shell). I hope they come out with something new instead.

Could we be a bit realistic here. Last years was a once-in-a-lifetime item based on the first return of Mad King Thorn to Tyria in over 300 years. The book was found as pieces given to ghosts as a way of understanding the story to Thorn’s fall and a possible clue to defeating his attempt to breach the barrier between realms.

Will the book return? No. It will not. It makes no sense at all for the book to return.

However, in light of all that’s said above, it’s still possible for a new edition in a series: the tale of Bloody Prince Edrick. That maybe a book that we get a chance to create through finding new info about him. Possible, though still may not happen at all.

Well, they did introduce a way of converting pve event items into pvp items after halloween, and I hope we have a chance to acquire previously released backpieces that were exclusively PVE before so that PVP players would be able to use them as well.. It’s not so far fetched to have those backpieces returned imho.

I sold mine to a vendor because it was transmuted and transmuted items show the icon of the base item used, not the skin… I realized it only a few days later…

I want a creepy crawly type of backpack. Something spooky looking.

Or very small tiny bat wings. I think my norn would look awesome with Asura sized wings. o.o

Part of me is saying “NAY!” – but it’s only because I’m elitist and I don’t want other to have what I have… just kidding
But to be more serious – if there would be choice between returning old stuff or new stuff with equal quality and imagination behind it like in first Halloween, I’m on new stuff wagon, hands down.
As for now, I think the mask took place of backpiece and I reall can’t foce myself to enjoy it looks. But it’s only my speculation.

That was just a singular idea, based on what I assumed. It could be instead a chain & key backpiece that’s a put-together attempt to try to relock Edrick back in his box in the Mad King’s Realm. That would make much more sense than another book, though both can be likely. Or, as others have suggested, it could be completely lore-unrelated and be a pair of bat wings (sadly enough).
