There’s only two Way Points, so I don’t see a reason not to make them free, especially with all the people who splat on the ground leaving me to revive them, and then when I fall to my death no one is around to rez me. I second this thread.

came here to say the same thing. in a zone like this paying 1.4 silver per mistake is going to add up quickly …

In particular with the messy controls of the wind aspect.

Not moving before you hit the power, no horizontal movement for you.

Let go of your movement key mid jump, get ready to splat.

Could just as well have tied these things in with jump and dodge while under the effect of the aspects, as having to reach for the skill keys mid-movement only favors those with specialized hardware.

Anet has always “best” ideas for gold sink. and wasting time. I came here after half year of break and it’s still going strong.

I would love to see this. But consider the reasons for them not to be free.

If you have just 500 AP on your account (very likely even for new players) you get 1 gold for free. That will cover 71 deaths without dipping into anything you had before this update.

As much as I would love to see them be free and I completely agree it would be awesome, no one is going broke from this so let’s tone down the melodramatics.

Use a guild bank.

Just bring a level 1 alt there and do it if gold is that much of an issue.

I feel sorry for new players that are low lvl who get bumped to 80 for this place and die alot and have to pay that 1 silver per WP. It’s not so bad for those of us at 80 who can make cash for this but think of those low lvls……

Ok, then put up a buy order of all your gold for something that will never sell like permanent hair style contract and then immediately cancel the order. All of your gold will now be in the black lion trading post pickup (this is how I always transfer gold from character to character most easily).

I absolutely agree with this post. I am spending a lot of money falling to my death.

At least make WPs free if you die. If you just want to WP up to the top, then you pay up. Seems a fair compromise. But every death due to a bad jump is starting to build up my resentment as it’s taking away my hard-earned money.

Please, please, please can we have a free wp?

Except you need to do this before you die. Unless they changed it since the last time I tried, if you have gold on you when you die, then find a way to get rid of it (send it to a friend, put a buy order on the TP, etc.) and have no money in your bank, you cannot waypoint for free and must either get sent money or wait for a revive. Just a heads up.

I found myself dying a lot, because I’m a terrible jumper.

I made a new low level character, and now I’m paying 5 copper per waypoint. I think I’ll be able to afford a lot more deaths before even coming close to one silver.

Obviously not a solution for anyone with full character slots, but if you do have the space, it’s a huge cost saving approach.

This one issue really turned me off to the whole area. It is as if the following discussion took place:

Senior Game Designer: “Team, we have a problem: Guild Wars 2 is just not sucking enough. How can we make it suck more?”

After falling numerous times trying to get past the Wind Adept I have to agree. Maybe pay for the uppermost waypoint, that I don’t have an issue with. I am not good at jumping puzzles – some folk have cognitive issues etc. that make those very difficult to do. Definitely not asking for easier just maybe to be able to get to a point where I can try, try, try again and hopefully get lucky to get over to the next area.

Only consolation I have had is the champions and veterans along the way I have been able to manage. Monthly champion is definitely in sight, lol….

Ok, tried again, used speed boost in addition to the Wind skill and got to first platform. Probably should have waited until speed recharged and used again because fell just using Wind skill alone… bit by bit, figuring it out…

Must have been lucky because tried it second time and boloed….sigh getting frustrating to the point of not worth it other than making the veteran/champion requirements for the day/month… Will give it a rest and try again tomorrow and see if my luck is any better before bagging this event as a no go for myself… Hoping at least today is a lag issue because of the number of folk. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Supported. I’m fairly good at JP’s and hardly ever fall, but I agree that making the WP’s free in Labyrinthine Caves would be a nice gesture towards the playerbase who aren’t.

I’m going to have to call you on this. You would have to die 143 times before making it to the top on a level 80 character. A low level character (which you should be on if this is that big of an issue for you) would be significantly more, upwards of 500.

There are ways to make this not an issue described in this thread multiple times: store your gold elsewhere or just make a low level character. You are refusing to fix the situation but continuing to complain about it.

ok but that would mean id have to spend either more gold, which is probably more than all the way-pointing, to get gems to get another character slot and roll a lowbie, or eat it.

already admitting i have no skill, i gave it my all and failed too much for me to handle. its all opinion anyways. i just wonder where all the money goes that players use for waypointing.

To be fair there is almost always a veteran or champion event going on in the area, so its pretty easy to remake the fee if you take half a minute to smack that ve goo around.

Yeah its true. There is no way for the game to see how much gold you have on other characters so it is free. You can also put your gold in a personal guild if you have one.

I believe it is , as ages ago a friend asked me why I was wp all around a map and at the time I was broke, and each nearest wp to where i died was costing me nothing to go to.

(this was just before he enlightened on the wonders of farming, Now i am his personal Gold farming slave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )

If money is a problem for you, send everything to an alt and waypoint for free. Done.

The greatest issue here is that jumps are highly sensitive to network latency. You have a choppy net = you’re dead.
