REALLY making it to the top
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-On3Ya0_4Y)
Haven’t gotten up there yet but when I do I will certainly try to go higher.
It seems a little disappointing to realise the ‘top’ isn’t really. If you’re going to claim you’re at the top of something you shouldn’t be able to go higher. It’d be like climbing Everest and saying you’re at the top when there’s a few feet left. It might not be much but it still counts.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Me and 3 guildies made it up about 2 or 3 beams higher than you are now, but we had to chain portals down and back up to restock on the jumping skills.
We couldn’t see much further to go from there, but there might be a way, I hope. Was good fun getting there!
I can’t tell if you got higher than me or not, but I think I did pretty good.
I probably coulda made it higher but I flubbed a jump and ran out of Cloud Boosts early on.
I’m glad I wasn’t he only one who tried this.
I pretty much got to where you guys are. Don’t think you can quite make it to the top before running out of special moves but am happy to be proven wrong.

I made it slightly higher, but not by much. That top platform seems so in reach. I think 6 more jumps and I would have made it.
Would it be possible if you had a mesmer with a portal, to refill your number of jumps? I tried refilling my stack by using Spectral walk, and teleporting back. But due to the limited time on Spectral Walk, I’m rather limited to how far away I can be from the closest crystal spawn point. Maybe if multiple players worked together, this would be possible.

That’s how I felt after reaching the goggles. I was like “this is the highest dive?”, there are much higher places in the map. And then I tried to get there, and got pretty close. I’m hoping someone pulls it off.

With the help of another jumping puzzle fanatic guildie, I finally made it to the crow’s nest at the top of the scaffolding.
I love that ANet has made challenges like this available for those of us who are in love with the platforming aspect for GW2. Thanks guys!

There is no jumping puzzle or platforming. The only thing that will even get you that high up is to refill your charges on your jump with a mesmer most likely. Just a trick. I don’t think it was ever intended.
Great job Pallar! The view up there must have been amazing! I suspect you used mesmer portals then? Anyway, nicely done, and thanks for the picture as proof!

The very last jumps are very tricky and a fail probably means a death so your portal won’t be of use if that happens.
But it probably wasn’t intended yes.

You’re right, I did use a mesmer portal to refill my charges halfway up, but I’m working on a way now to make it to the crow’s nest without using the portal. Theoretically if you don’t miss a single jump and use your assist jump and lighting pull perfectly efficiently, I think it is doable. I’ll get back to here with a video if I make it.

I got pretty high, had 5 jump charges left and full lightning pulls, then changed layers and lost it all /cry

Awww, good effort though Adamantium, you got really high!

Nice, though I will point out the platforming aspect is pretty bad when compared to some games. It isn’t as terrible as some of the more popular mmos though. I wish they would do more with the portal guns, I still keep those around.
I totally need to try this while listening to The Fall from the Protomen.
Half my guild was working together yesterday to get to the top. I think they got as high as you can go.

Nicely done, you beat me by some hours for a portal-less run, but here’s my contribution as earlier promised.
I love that we both took different paths up the scaffolding, at least for the first 2/3rds or so of it. The playground aspect of the new zone combined with the jumping mechanics is what makes it so fun for me.

Great work both of you. It’s great to see these two different videos, and the different routes you took. And I’m glad to see it is possible even without the use of a mesmer portal.

i tried but u run out of jumps
I have to speculate that ANet intended this path to be jumpable for those who wanted the extra challenge, however they were precluded them from actually giving out any awards or an achievement due to the level of difficulty filtering out the vast majority of their player base.
As Smerec demonstrated very well the first video, ANet seems to have gone out of their way to construct a path up to the base of the scaffold requiring a maximum of one skill jump. After that, both Smerec and I make mistakes while hopping up the scaffold, wasting a few skill jumps, but we still make it.
If there was no intention of letting people up there, I don’t believe they would have arranged the supports in a fashion that allowed it. Furthermore, since you don’t encounter an invisible wall until you get atop the crow’s nest proper, they included traversable level geometry up the entire scaffold, which is a lot of work for an area that they don’t want people in.
