Shame on you ANET: Adnul Irongut
I have no shame. Anet wanted to create a god kittening awful NPC to play against that practically cheats against you, so I cheated too. Just use a box o’ fun and set it to petrify, and use it during the match. And you will just ooc constantly after every drink and heal up, no work needed.
Fair is fair IMO. They aren’t cheats if they level the playing field.
I don’t even know how long I sat there in petrification before he drank HIMSELF to death. It was ridiculous.
You two make it sound impossible….. I did it in an hour. Post food buff patch no exploits just Me vs Adnul. It’s difficult, but not as difficult as everyone complains it is.

It’s not difficult, at all. It just relies WAY to much on RNG.

I’m sorry, but in video game terms, isn’t that the exact definition of a cheat?

It’s really determined by how you want to interpret things. But to me, it’s not a cheat if it brings unintentionally broken content down to a reasonable level of difficulty.
However, if Adnul was designed to intentionally be this hard, then I would consider it a cheat. I find this hard to believe though, because there is a time-limited achievement (Grandmaster of Om) that requires you to beat Adnul to achieve, and at this level of difficulty it’s possible that most players would miss out on it.
In addition, to me any NPC that has to “cheat” to beat the player (healing faster than possible with a human player, etc) is bad design. This is not how difficult content should be designed.

Adnul’s actually been patched down in difficulty already.
The Adnul people are having issues with now is actually easier than he was before. Unsurprisingly, some people are saying the patch didn’t even do anything except for eliminate food buffs.

A thousand times this!
It’s just like in every other sport. You just don’t get better with two tries… Stick to it and you will get him. It’s as simple as that…
Well after almost a whole day, watching lots of youtube vids, dulfy’s guides, guides on this forum, in some instances simply copying the videos like for like, advice from guildies, I managed to get Adnul. To be honest it was pure luck that I managed to block his heal 2-3 times and then grind his health down with bluffs. Similar tactics tried throughout the course of the day and feel it was down to luck, I may as well have closed my eyes and mashed the keyboard.

I’m sure you’re the type of person that would tell me to keep trying @ The MF because I Just need to practice to get better at it.
This fight is nothing but pure luck.

Uhh, “Level” the playing field?
Also: Speaking as somebody who did actually beat Adnul (after the patch, it took me two tries), and then watched somebody else try him…it’s definitely all luck.
It took me two tries to take him out after the patch, and then I watched a friend try.
They still haven’t put him under the table, as far as I know.
It’s not an impossible game, but it’s completely independent of any actual skill against Adnul (and the NPCs in general, really, as they flagrantly break the rules). All you can really do is keep trying and hope it works out.
I am surely not.
Just heal properly and bluff the rest of the time. Use the special you get from the Sylvari when you have to drink and your HP is low.
That’s it. I’ve beaten him multiple times to see if he is really that hard and if I was just lucky.
It worked out every time I tried this.
If you have a rejuvenation booster (the kind you sometimes get at random from completing your daily, the kind that comes out of the black lion chests) it will make him a lot easier, without having to use the Box o’ Fun trick.
